It's December 19th already?
2007-02-13 03:22:01 To me it doesn't feel like December 19th. I have barely noticed that the holidays are here. In past years I always spent a lot of time out during this time of year. This year I have been out in public a minimal amount of time. Part of it has been the weather up here and part of it has been me just not wanting to get out. I will probably get out the next few days just to go and be around people and see how Montreal does Christmas. That and I still have to get Christine something! Anyhow I am off for today. Whatever happened to just plain athletic shoes?
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Yesterday I spent over four hours shopping for a pair of running shoes. I need them for two purposes. First I might actually do some running to make sure that I am in top shape coming into this drum corps season. The second thing I am going to use them for is drum corps season itself. Basically these shoes are going to get used, abused, and then used some more.Thanks in part to hip hop culture shoes that fit exactly that purpose do not exist in stores anymore. Shoes are all leather (well synthetic leather with the leather price tag) and look entirely too fancy to take out and beat the crap out of. Also these materials that they are using will never withstand the elements. They are designed to be worn with your baggy jeans and your phat pharm 3XL t-shirts. If that is your style then great, go and be an individual and spend $200 on your favorite pair of kicks.For someone like me who wants a certain look along with function the only option is to go online and shop directly from the man... 2007-02-13 03:22:01 After a 13 day holiday hiatus I have come back to the blogging world. After many parties and an entire Christmas spent in French I am going to slowly ease myself back into this!I already have a number of projects and plans for 2007. The first is getting myself back into the shape I want to be in. I need to come up with some kind of workout I can do without paying to go to the gym that will put some muscle back on my body. I have lost a lot of weight, but with the fat I lost also went the muscle. It is the price you have to pay in order to lose it though.I am also going to be starting work on a recruitment video for the Brigadiers. It may seem like it is a little late to put together a video for the 2007 season, but there is still plenty of time. That and this is a tool that we can use in the future, so doing the work this month will prove to help the corps for years to come.That's all for now. Hope everyone has a good 2007! More About: Back
We've Got New Cell Phones!
2007-02-13 03:22:01 On Friday night Christine and I went shopping for Cell Phone s. Telus is the only company up here that offered a buy one get one free cell phone deal if we signed up for a share plan. She really wanted to LG Chocolate phone as well for the MP3 player and they did not offer it online with the buy one get one free promotion. I went down to the store and talked with a sales person about this and he offered to sell the LG phone along with all of the accessories that were needed so that she can have more music capabilities with the phone. I got the Nokia 6265i which is Nokia's version of this same phone with a slightly better camera and different functionality. I did not get the extra memory or anything to utilize the MP3 capabilities of the phone or enough to store many pictures, but I will get this stuff in the future. Am I addicted to the internet?
2007-02-13 03:22:01 Laying in bed last night at 1:30 after surfing the internet a lot later then I wanted to I asked myself this question. I kind of recapped in my head what I had been doing online in the past few days. So I started listing the websites that I visit and that I am active on regularly. After making a mental list of all of these websites I decided that I do spend way too much time online.Lets start with all of the blogs first. Of course you guys are reading The LOUD Tour, but there are three other out there besides this one. The other three that I have are my Live Journal, my Xanga, and my SoulCast blog. The content of them may be similar, but the main reason for that is to point everyone back to here as well as to point them to a bunch of other cool things that I have found out there on the internet.So those are my blogs, now you have to factor in my friends blogs who I am checking out everyday. We have seen a day or two with very little snow so far this winter, but snow will make everyone happy around here! They are calling for 8-10 inches by tonight. Am I becoming domesticated?
2007-02-13 03:22:01 The thought had crossed my mind recently. It seems to be happening. Last night would prove to be another good example why.First I met with Christine so that we could both go and get our mouthpieces re plated with gold. The years of playing has worn my gold mouthpiece down to raw brass in some spots and hers as well, so this is something that needed to be done, not very domesticated stuff at all.On the way there I mentioned that I saw a good deal on some shoes that I would actually wear. If you'll remember right before the holiday I put a post here about athletic shoes and what happened to them, you can read that here. Well the shoe store did not have my size, but Christine found a pair that she liked and of course asked me about my opinion. She ended up buying some new shoes. Well I was determined to find some last night and I went to two other stores before I finally did find a pair that I could live with that were more about function and less about fashion. We ended up going to Nickels which is very similar to a 50's style diner which is owned by Celine Dion. Of course whever I go into a place like this I have to get two things that a diner like this was built on. I am talking about a hamburger, or in my case a bacon cheeseburger, and a milkshake. The first words out of Christine's mouth when I ordered all of this were, "ewww gross!" Yes Gross! I explained to her that this is not gross at all. In fact many burger joints were founded serving these two things on their menu's. This was the draw for a place like this. Her argument is that the taste of the hamburger and the milkshake do not belong together because they are totally the opposite of one another.
