My momma gets me lots of treats when she goes to the store. Today is Mommies Day so Halie, Kyma and me decided to give our momma the day off from bloggin (she still has to get us breakfast though) so I will be doing the surfing report today.Morning surfin peoples and happy mommies day to all of you surfin mommy peoples. Today the waves are very wet, taste yucky and are over your head if your are a dog and about thigh high and choppy if you are surfin peoples. It is also really, really windy here today and I have my Sammy the Surf Dog hoody on this morning so my ears don't fly off. 2007-05-12 13:48:00 Morning Dudes and Dudettes, here is your Paula the Surf Mom Outer Banks Surf Report for May 12, 2007.Well presently there is no surf in the Outer Banks this morning; we have flat and glassy conditions with a light Southwest wind coming in at 5 to 10mph and I wouldn't look for that to improve anytime today. Now the weatherman is saying that we should expect another storm to develop off the coast of North Carolina by Sunday and that should be giving us something to surf through around Tuesday.It looks like it is going to be a good morning to hit the beach as our air temps are currently in the 70's and our water temps have all gone into the low to mid 60's.Low tide today will be at 10:00am, and high tide at 4:17pm. I was coming off the bottom of a wave, driving straight up the wall, hit the lip and went to snap around when things went very wrong. Now I'm not sure how it all went wrong but before I knew it I was in a hold down for what seemed an eternity and then in shallow breaking waves, I found myself going over the falls and ending up in a major face plant in the sand. Well all of the big surf event of the past week has pretty much gone with Andrea, leaving us with glassy surface conditions, thigh to waist high waves and a nice morning for longboarders. Right now our wind is barely perceptible at 5 mph out of the south and our water temps are in the high 50's and low 60's. It is also a nice spring morning here in the Outer Banks ; our air temps currently are in the 70's and it is sunny. What we have out there surf wise will probably die off as the day progresses and tomorrow there won't be much of anything at all, but we do have another front moving into the area that should get things working again Sunday.Low tide today was at 9:05am and high tide will be at 3:17pm. Anderea has to be the earliest named storm I can remember and came three week before the start of the official 07 hurricane season. She is now moving to the south and things are starting to settle down some.Yesterday I went out when I probably shouldn't and for a while managed to catch some really great rides, that is till I took a major face plant into the sand ... this morning I sit here with a wrenched back, a knee the size of a basketball, and a face looking like someone took a Black and Decker sander to it. Yes it's still very windy here in the Outer Banks and our surf is still very big; We current have a 30 mph + off shore wind from North East, giving us wave that are nearly four foot over head. On the down side everything we are seeing is May Tag choppy and completely un-surfable with dangerous rip currents.As this storm starts to move off we can expect to see better and cleaner surfing conditions starting Wednesday and lasting till the end of the week.Low tide today will be at 6:21pm and High tide will be at 12:16pm. The sun rose at 6:03am and will set at 7:56pm. Thank You Easter Bunny.Surfing and Chocolate can both put me in a state of absolute contentment and ecstasy. If The Mystical Break at MP 18 was like the one in this video I certainly would not mind wiping out as much as I do.
