The Most Important Rule In Any Business
2007-08-09 21:47:00 Last night, I eagerly started reading The Law Of Success by Napoleon I Hill. I was still in the first few pages when I came across something really striking?"It is the personalities back of a concern which find the measurement of success the concern will enjoy. Modify those personalities so they are more than than pleasing and more attractive to the frequenters of the concern and the concern will thrive." - Napoleon I Hill.Hill also adverts somewhere else that people don't like doing concern with corps or establishments - they desire to make concern with people. And what is more, they desire to make concern with people whom they like. In other words, people with pleasing personalities. It's not really rocket scientific discipline now is it?But just travel and have got a expression at the bulk of ads out there. Most companies desire to force their corporate mental image at all costs. And for what?It only turns people off in the end. You're much better off taking a personal app... Many neglect to make money online as they make not travel about it correctly and many others fear that the whole concern will be taken over on a corporate level.I will state you why Internet Selling will always last and why it is the concern to acquire involved with NOW.When little offline concerns collapse, they do so because they cannot vie with the large corps for one ground and one ground only - net income margin. The large corporation can afford to supply the service often as a loss leader at first until the competition is out of the manner before they can tramp terms up. The littler retail merchant cannot vie because of the operating expenses that they must pay.For online marketers,... More About: Marketing , Business , Internet , Internet Marketing , Profitable

Orkut Bug?
2007-03-14 06:23:00 Of late I have been seeing this in my Orkut home page. This page shows me that there are 5 unread messages (2-3 months back it was showing 3 unread messages) even when there are no messages in my inbox. Now when I click the unread messages, its still more interestingIt shows there are no messages in the selected folder. It also displays "showing 1-3 of 3" ? To confirm this I deleted all the messages in my folders, sent items, saved item and inbox, but it still shows as 5 unread message. Is it a bug or a mystery, only Orkut can tell. Technorati tags: Orkut

How to add recent comments widget in Blogger
2007-03-12 09:44:00 Hackosphere has developed a widget that lets you display the last comments made on your blog. This widget was made quite a few days back, but I came across this widget yesterday while reading Priya's Blog . You can specify how many comments need to be show (default is 10) and also the number of letters to be displayed in each comment (defaults to 100). This was developed soon after Blogger announced that they support blog feeds in JSON format also.I have made my recent comments block on the right hand side of this blog. If you have not used this widget and interested in using this one, Click here to get the code developed by Hackosphere. Technorati tags: blogger, BloggerComments More About: How To , Widget , Men

Great Firewall of China
2007-03-10 05:33:00 I read about the Great Fire wall of China from Nitesh Gautam's Blog. The Chinese govt has been censoring lot of websites based on their content. The greatfirewallofchina.org says; The Chinese government has a tradition of keeping its watchful eye on all media. Since the rapid growth of the World Wide Web in the 1990s they have constantly invented new ways of censorship to control the world’s most democratic medium, the Internet, as well. Not everything on the Internet, readily available elsewhere, can be accessed from within China. Some of the popular sites like Wikipedia are blocked in China. Checkout this section to know more about Great Firewall of China.I did a check for my blog to see whether its blocked or not and the results are here.Currently my blog is available in China (there is quite a few Chinese readers as well), but as the greatfirewallofchina.org says any site could be blocked any time. Rediff offers unlimited email storage free
2007-03-09 07:47:00 Here's good news for Rediffmail users. Rediff is offering unlimited email storage space for free. Currently the major players like Yahoo, Google and AOL are offering unlimited space only for paid members. So existing and new Rediff users need not worry about deleting mails. They can download videos and songs. Currently there are few players offering unlimited storage space for free and among them are the US based mail2world.com and Korean email services provider DreamWiz. Rediff.com has about 50.66 million user (as of December 31, 2006) - a 23% increase over the corresponding periods figure last year. The company believes the number of hits on the site will increase substantially. This is definitely going to give more competition to other players in this area.Technorati tags: Rediffmail, Yahoo, Google, UnlimitedStorage More About: Mail , Email , Free , Rage
Is owning a domain necessary for successful blogging?
2007-03-08 09:42:00 Of late I have been reading lot of blogs and almost 70% of them are hosted on paid domains, be it personal, technical or business blogs and only 30% of them are using the free blogging platforms like Blog ger (the one I'm using), typepad etc. So does it mean that having a paid domain is needed for a successful blog? Here are some of the quotes about having a paid domain for blogging.Jakob Nielsen, in his post Weblog Usability: The Top Ten Design Mistakes states thatHaving a weblog address ending in blogspot.com, typepad.com, etc. will soon be the equivalent of having an @aol.com email address or a Geocities website: the mark of a naïve beginner who shouldn't be taken too seriously.American Blogoshere says,If you have a highly successful blog on blogspot you are building up an asset for Google and not just yourself. They also have control of your site’s fate instead of you.Yuga in the list of Seven deadly sins of blogging says; I like to take emphasis more on the first bullet p... Firefox frustrating me!
2007-03-07 12:22:00 I have been using Fire fox for long time now and recently I updated to the latest version 2.0. After the update there seems to be a unique problem. Sometimes it happens that while surfing using Firefox, it stops connecting to internet and does not display any page. I tried refreshing the pages, but still it does not connect. The only solution is to close the Firefox session and then restart it again. First I had the impression that it may be because of the internet connection I'm using. But when the problem came up frequently, I tried connecting the same websites using Internet Explorer. IE was able to display the sites when Firefox failed to do so. This happens mostly when the number of tabs in a particular window increases. I'm not sure if the update has caused any problem to the browser (initially I was using 1.5), but the problem came up after the update. Is is the problem of Firefox? Suggestions and solutions welcome. To add to this problem, whenever I open a tab and enter an u... More About: Trat , Stra , Rust
Blogger vs Wordpress
2007-03-06 05:10:00 It has been 1.5 years since I started using Blog ger as my blogging platform and I should say I'm pretty happy with their service. Recently I read lot of articles pointing out the disadvantages of using Blogger when compared to Word press . To investigate how better is Wordpress compared to Blogger, I decided to get a Wordpress blog for me. My new Wordpress blog is nirmaltv.wordpress.com. Since the Blogger service is completely free, I'm just comparing the free service offered by Wordpress with Blogger.Firstly, one good thing I found for Wordpress blogs is that new pages can be added to the blog, but this feature is not available in Blogger. This is a feature I really wanted in Blogger, may be they will implement in future.Secondly for creating a new post, I think Blogger is better than Wordpress because they offer lot more options on font, size and colors. Although color and font options are available in Wordpress, one has to code this manually in code section.Another important thi... More About: Press
My blog went down !
2007-03-05 05:20:00 Today morning when I checked my blog it was not loading properly, only the first panel was loading till the site visitors. The postings were not at all visible. I tried to refresh my blog several times and nothing changed. It was difficult to check what was wrong with the template just by looking at the code, so I decided to use my old template and check it. Again it was loading till the site visitors details. There was some problem with the site visitor counter which was provided by GoStats. So I got the code again from their site, but the error was still there. So finally I decided to remove the site counter and replace it with another one from Hit-Counter. Finally my blog is up and running. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. More About: Blog , Down , Went , Fakta , Doof
Yet another weekend !
2007-03-04 07:47:00 Yet another weekend is passing by and time is nearing for the big occasion....This weekend was pretty similar like any other weekend, watching movies, roaming, some small shoppings etc. This weekend I went for 2 movies. One was the latest movie from Ram Gopal Verma-Nishabd. This is said to be inspired from Hollywood film Lolita. The movie is a short one and seems to be lacking the punch. The first half is pretty dragging and second half is the place where actually the film talks about all relationships. (Rating: 2/5)The second movie which I saw was Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. Its a fun filled movie telling the story of six couples on a honeymoon vacation. Though there is not much in the story, the way it is presented to the audience makes it watchable. (Rating: 3/5)Next weekend I'll be going to Kochi with lots of work to complete before the big occasion... :-) More About: Other , Weekend , Week , Another

Staying Alive In a Software Job
2007-03-02 06:32:00 Recently I came across this interesting article written by Harshad Oak. He writes about the state of software industry in India and how to survive in this cramped work culture. The solutions which he suggest also seems very much realistic in nature. Here is the article: Before I started working for myself, I spent some years in some of the top IT companies in India and still have many friends working in various software companies. I wrote a blog recruiting like crazy, about the same time last year about how Indian companies are recruiting like there's no tomorrow and the possible consequences. However I was avoiding writing this particular piece as it seems like an unpatriotic thing to do, to tell the world how bad the working conditions in software companies in India have become. And there's always the risk of excerpts being used out of context to bash up IT in India . I am now writing this because I just keep hearing horror tales from the industry and it doesn't seem like an... More About: Software , War , Ware , Live , Soft

A Trip to Malabar
2007-02-26 07:34:00 It has been quite a long time since I visited Mala bar. For those who have not heard about the word Malabar , its the northern part of Kerala (India). The Northern stretch of Kerala as a whole is said as the Malabar Region. Malabar is also my home town, where my grandmother stays. I decided to give her a visit last week. So Saturday early morning I reached Mangalore Railway station and boarded the Mangalore-Chennai Egmore Express. The train started by 6.40 am, late by 10 minutes. I took a single seat as i knew there would be heavy rush once it reaches Kerala, so I would be on the safe side taking the single seat. It has been a long time since I traveled by train during day time. Generally I take the train when I go to Kochi and that would be by the night train. Traveling through Malabar region during the day time was a great experience with the lot of beaches and rivers on the way.Few snaps of MalabarI took few snaps of the greenery and rivers along this coastal area. Promoting Vista
2007-02-17 14:14:00 The new Windows Vista Campaign and promotions seems to be picking up fast. Yesterday I went to Cafe Coffee day outlet and I was surprised to see Vista posters and cards everywhere in the restaurant. Bigger surprise came when the waiter handed the menu card to me, another Vista card. The menu was in the form of the windows logo and had lot of promotions for Vista and titled-"Windows Vista, the WOW starts now" CCD's New Menu CardEven after opening the card there were logos everywhere inside it. There's a new item in the menu called Windows Vista WOWffee priced @ 40/-. But what is the connection between these two? Microsoft seems to be so desperate to sell Vistas, but lets wait and see how popular Vista is going to be. With the Vista launched last month, we can expect more of such promotions and campaigns in the coming months.Technorati tags: Microsoft, Vista, CafeCoffeeDay More About: Promoting , Prom , Promo , Romo
