Better Is One Day In Your Court - Sung by Kutless
2008-05-18 07:50:00 Whenever I am sad, or glad, or mad, I think of how these feelings are all going to be gone once we meet God in heaven. But while we are here on earth, the place that I am at peace the most is when I am at church, worshipping God; or when I am in the car by myself singing praises at the top of my voice. Truly, better is one day in God's court than thousand elsewhere.Below is a YouTube video and lyrics. I chose to post this particular version of this song by Kutless because it gives me joy to see a younger generation enjoying worshipping God in their own way. God looks at the heart and I think these young generation's heart is right with God.How lovely is your dwelling place, oh, Lord almightyFor my soul longs and even faints for youLord, here my heart is satisfied within your presenceI sing beneath the shadow of your wings(Chorus)Better is one day in your court, better is one day in your houseBetter is one day in your court than thousands elsewhere{Repeat}One thing I ask and I ... God Works In Big & Small Ways
2008-05-18 02:33:00 Amy from Signs, Miracles and Wonders is giving away fabulous prizes in celebration of her 100th post. Check it out here. I thought I'd play along. Afterall, it's an opportunity to share God's work in my life - and any opportunity to share God's work in our lives is a wonderful opportunity. her it goes:On Feb 5, 2008, I posted a prayer, a desperate cry for help and guidance from God.Then I posted this, more about that prayer... about wanting to step out in faith and lessen my hours of working outside our home.I took a step of faith and guess what? God honored that. Even though at the time when I cut back my hours at work I didn't know how we are going to make our ends meet financially, God paved the way. A few weeks (or a couple months?) after I made that decision in faith, President Bush approved the "Economic Stimulus Program" and so we have that extra cushion financially! I am loving the extra time I can spend with my kids without the financially worry. Thank you Lord.Go... More About: Small , Works
Sunday Scribbling: Soar/Sore
2008-05-17 09:18:00 When I saw the prompt for this week's Sunday Scribbling, an idea came popping into my head as to what I can scribble about. Then I thought I shouldn't. It's something I am dealing with... and probably should not post about until it's truly resolved in my heart... And so maybe a poem would suffice....SORE SPOTI was wounded, bruised and hurtNot many knows how deepNot many knows ...I thought healing would come quicklyIt wasn't that badso it seemsAnd yet even though the woundhave slightly healedand there are no more tearsThe soreness remainsAnd I know whyI know exactly whyIt's because the enemy saw my vulnerabilityThe devil saw my weak spotAnd just when I thoughtthe wound have healedthe enemy pokes and hitsSomeday this wound will healA scar might be left behindBut it will hurt no moreBut until thenI would have to bearAnd the enemyI have to fightThe enemywho throws fiery arrows in my headand makes me think of thoughts that are not mineand makes me feel emotionsthat should have be... When Our Prayers Are Not Answered ...
2008-05-15 09:27:00 We prayed ... hundreds of us...We prayed for healing. We prayed that the bone marrow test will yield a good result. But tonight, tonight Maisha posted that the test resultis not what we prayed for.The 2nd chemo they did at Kit didn't work. And the doctors are not recommending another chemo.Kit will come home to Maui ...And so I am asking God "why"?No I am not angry... it's not an angry "why"It's a why of a childwanting to know the reason... whyHave we not prayed enough?Have we not fasted enough?Didn't we have enough faith? Why is He not healing Kit?Maybe He still would...But if not, why? It's a hard news to take.I know God is sovereignAnd He knows what's best. But we are humans, and humans do not seewhat God sees...And so what do we do now?Do we stop prayingsince God will do what He wants to do anyway? And so when God does not answer our prayersThe way we want Him to,what do we do?***Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fa... More About: Prayers

Works For Me Wednesday: Public School
2008-05-14 04:33:00 In My opinion, there are two areas that a Christian Mom like me may feel insecure about. Those are: 1) Working outside the home 2) Sending our kids to public schoolBeing a passionate Christian Mom, I am surrounded by other Christian Parents who have strong convictions about those two issues. Most of my friends are "Stay At Home Moms" and many of them homeschool their kids. There were awkward moments at church when other parents would say something about how "they will never send their kids to public school" like the kids sent to public schools are doomed to destruction. It's awkward, very awkward for me to hear that and see the expression of disgust in their faces.Well, I am here to say that I work outside of home and my kids go to public school. "Public School " works for us. Yes, I have to closely watch my kids so that they don't pick-up some bad habits (like swearing because there are a lot of kids who swears in the public school) and yes I have to watch closely what they are... Tackle It Tuesday: Gardening
2008-05-13 06:13:00 It's time for Tackle It Tuesday . I thought I'd tackle something that I had been wanting to do for a long time but never got around to doing it. Today, I did it. I planted herbs in a pot - my herb dish garden! Not only did I tackle my herb mini-garden, I also transplanted a lot of the anthuriums (on the pots that were drying and needed to be transplanted). I just planted them all on the flower bed in the side of the house. Now I am excited to see them revive and bloom!I am thankful to Tackle It Tuesday because it motivates me to do the chores the fun way (fun means I take photos and blog about it :). Mothers Day 2008 - Happy Mothers Day Indeed
2008-05-12 08:28:00 This Mothers Day weekend has been wonderful. I am reminded over and over again how blessed I am and how I should be very thankful. For the sake of brevity, I will mention just the highlights of this weekend, and why it is indeed a Happy Mothers Day:1. N got to sing with the Worship Group today. At Hope Chapel. I am happy and thankful that she too loves to worship God and she's happy to help lead the congregation to worship through singing. As many of you already know, I love worshipping God through singing (even though singing doesn't like me ;)) and so this is a big deal for me. Here's a photo of the kids singing worship (Thank you Uncle Joe for "discipling" these little ones in worship):N made a clay portrait of me:2. G was complimented on how polite he is. G slept over with a bunch of boys at his friends house. It was supposed to be just a birthday party from 4-8 PM but the boys were having so much fun, the mom allowed for a sleepover to boys whose parents would allow t... More About: Friendship , 2008

Because We Love Kit
2008-05-11 02:40:00 A bunch of us ran the Na Holo Wahine 2008 5K Run. Since Kit (our pastor who is battling Lukemia at this time) is an athlete himself (he's actually an excellent athlete who did the Iron Man), we decided to dedicate this run for him. We are praying that the result of the bone marrow test on May 13 would be well - that there won't be any cancer cells left, so that he can start the bone marrow transplant ASAP. We believe. And this is what's in that shirt we are wearing(yes, that's Kit, the IronMan):And while I was running, I also prayed for Mike, Stef and Heather. I am also praying for Kate. We're beating cancer prayer by prayer, through love, through faith. Keep fighting - we're praying. More About: Love
On Waiting To Be A Mother
2008-05-10 10:16:00 A friend of mine is going through some tough times this month. They are in the process of invitro and the first implant did not take. It would have been nice if she got pregnant by Mother s Day , but she won't. They would have to wait for another month to try again. "All I wanted most is to be a Mother" she wrote. It broke my heart when I read that e-mail. She's been waiting for a long time. It's hard to be surrounded by friends with kids when you are wanting to be a mom and still couldn't.I previously blogged about this subject when my sister in law was waiting to get pregnant. The post can be found here. I am happy to announce that the waiting game for her is over because on February 14, 2008 she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Therefore I am continually be praying for my friend. That the next invitro implant would take. That she would be pregnant and will conceive and deliver an healthy baby. I know it can happen. I know it will.Cry Out To Jesus - Third Day (2005)To... So Much To Blog ABout, So Little Time!
2008-05-09 17:45:00 Are you sick of my Mothers Day s posts yet? If you are, I am so sorry I have more! The thing is not only do I have more "Mothers Day" stories to tell and thoughts to express, I also have so much other topics that I want to explore and write about. My problem is not having enough topic to blog about, my problem is not having the time to blog as much as I want to.But then again, that's life. Life always involves prioritizing - knowing what's important and what is not; knowing what is urgent and what is not.I took the photo of myself above to show off the lei my daughter made for me during their hula class last Tuesday. It's her advance Mothers Day gift. "There's more" she said. I can't wait!OK, I shouldn't be blogging right now. I have a list of things to do a mile long. I'd be back tonight... Telephone
2008-05-09 15:00:00 We taught our kids telephone courtesy very early on (as soon as they are able to talk and answer the phone). We have gotten a lot of compliments on how our kids are very polite on the phone. The 5 to 10 minutes we spent training them was well worth it.Here's how they answer:Krrrrinnnnggggg !!!!! (sound of ring varies :) )Hello. This is G, may I help you?Hi! May I speak with So-and-So?Yes. Please hold on.Here's how they are to call:Krrrrinnnnggggg !!!!! (sound of ring varies)Hello? Like Mother Like Daughter
2008-05-08 06:16:00 Nanay (my mom) called today to thank us for the money we sent them. It was bittersweet. Part of me is relieved knowing that they (my parents) are back in the Philippines, back to where they are most comfortable at; but part of me miss them being here....The photo above is one of the few baby photos I have. I am the second child in the family, I was born 15 months after my older brother. My brother has tons of baby photos - I don't. I used to give my parents a hard time about the fact that I have less baby photos :) ...My mom and I are different in so many ways, yet we are also the same in many ways. Bottomline, we both love being a mom ....***Hop on to "We Are That Family" for more Blast In The Past sharings :) More About: Mother , Flashback , Daughter
Sandwich Generation Celebrates Mothers Day
2008-05-07 09:00:00 What is a Sandwich Generation ? According to Merriam-Webster, it is a generation of people who are caring for their aging parents while supporting their own children .Even though both my parents and my mother-in-law do not live with us nor live close to us, I consider myself an active part of the Sandwich Generation. This Mothers Day , I am a mother to my kids; and yet I am also a child, a daughter of my Mom. However, instead of my mom taking care of me, it's me "taking care" of her, while I take care of my kids.On one hand, it's not a big deal. This should be a natural thing. I take care of my mom and when I am old, my daughter will take care of me. But life in this 22nd century is different than before. Ironically, even with all the high tech gadgets we have to help us in our daily living (like washing machines as opposed to washing clothes by hands), we are still almost always busy. Busy. Busy. And so sometimes our elder parents feel like they are a burden to us. Yes, s...

What Did Not Work For Me: Ezzo Parenting
2008-05-07 03:13:00 Works For Me Wednesday is doing a reverse today. Shannon is asking us to share what does not work with us or did not work with us. Since I am on a Mothers Day Theme this two week in my blog, I thought I'd share something that didn't work for me as a mom. You guessed it: Ezzo Parenting .I felt compelled to share this here to let "new mothers" or "expecting mothers" know that the principles taught in the books written by the Ezzo's are not for everyone. In fact, there are only a few parents I know who were successful at using it. Yes, I know a couple who raised their 7 kids using the Ezzo way, and yes they are healthy, polite kids... but my point is, it is not for everyone. Certainly didn't work for me.The problem with the Ezzo parenting is that they labeled it "God's Way" when in fact, there really is no direct connection to God's way on this kind of parenting. And that's what I don't like about it. One of their book/series is titled "Growing Kids Gods' Way" and many y... More About: Work
And That Has Made All The Difference (The Joy Of Adoption)
2008-05-06 05:54:00 For years Mother?s Day made me cry. More than just cry. I would hide in the corner and sob. Fine introduction to what I love best about Mother?s Day wouldn?t you say? But the truth is I?m an infertile. And for infertiles, Mother?s Day can be the toughest day of the year. We look around at our friends and sisters with a jealousy that hits us to the core. We wallow in a silent self pity that only a few can understand. That is what Mother?s Day used to be for me. That changed in 2007. May of 2007 I celebrated my first true Mother?s Day. The first time I received a Mother?s Day card from my son and he had actually scribbled in it. The first time I rolled over in the bed and he said, ?Happy Mother?s Day mommy.? I have to say, having my child be able to tell me he loves me on my very first Mother?s Day was the best gift I have ever and will ever receive. You see? I am the mother to an adopted child. My son is from Russia. My husband and I started the process of adopti... More About: Adoption , Mothers Day , Made , Difference

Working Mother (Bits and Pieces - Oh, Just Venting)
2008-05-05 10:34:00 This is going to be my first "vent post" on being a working mom since I cut back on my working hours (work outside our home). I was so thankful that I was able to reduce my hours from 36 hrs a week to 25 hrs a week that I actually did not talk a lot about being a working mom since then. (OK, I vented once but took it off line after a day.. just because...)But tonight ... I am feeling the "stress". I feel a bit frazzled. There are 3 important projects/tasks at work that I am handling and they are all urgent. Since I work less hours now, I have less hours to accomplish these at work and I guess it piled up. I was planning to go to work this weekend to catch up but I didn't. There were just too much going on.My son G had his Taekwondo testing last Saturday, so we were at the Dojang for 4 hours watching him being tested. He did get his "red belt" Congratulations G!Then at night I had bunco. My friend Karene hosted this months Bunco and she did an excellent job! Next month I'... What's True In Life Is True In Blogging
More articles from this author:2008-05-03 16:43:00 I did it again. Once again I got carried away by the sudden surge in my blog traffic during one of the "Bloggy Give-away" week, that I decided to hold my own "give-aways". The thing is, building traffic isn't really one of my goal for this blog. Sure I love it when I get many visitors reading my blog but I like visitors to come because they get enjoy the posts they read (or get encouraged, inspired, or motivated by it) not just for the give-aways. There is a time and place for give-aways, but it should not be my focus.Doing give-aways, promoting it, and building readership entail a tremendous amount of time and effort. But I do not have a lot of time alloted for this blog. I love blogging and enjoy it tremendously. However I find that when I get too focused on blog traffic, I get stressed instead of enjoying it.FOCUS. I need to focus on the purposes of my blog. I need to remind myself why I blog and why I love doing it. I need remind myself of my goals. I need to make it clear... More About: Life , Blogging , True 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
