Turning Anxious Thoughts Into Prayer
2008-06-09 17:29:00
I woke up today with many anxious thoughts. Monday has it's way of doing that to as I face the new week and think of the many things and chores I did not accomplish the week before and the many things and chores I have to do this coming week. I prayed and I was reminded of the verse "Cast your cares upon Him and He cares for you. I googled the verse so I can cut and paste here. I landed on a wonderful blog called:?But as for me, I will always have hope?? Psalm 71:14Yeah, that's the title of Lisa's blog. I copied this post and pasted here (sorry, without permission, but I will tell her after this), but I encourage you to go there and read her post for June 8. Amazingly, it's the same message and it's what I need to hear. So go there and read what she wrote. Here's what I copied:It is so easy to live lives full of anxiety and worry, but as believers in Christ we are called to trust in Him. Charles Spurgeon once said, ?Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of it?s sorrows, but only empt...

BUNCO At My House!
2008-06-07 08:00:00
Bunco ... at.my.house! to.mor.row night! TOMORROW NIGHT! Eeeekkkk!!!!! My house is a mess! I have not completed buying the prizes yet. It's panic time!!!And so I e-mailed my bunco mates:My house is a mess right now but it will be presentable by Saturday night. As much as I'd love to show off my house, no house tour. I'm keeping our master bedroom closed because that's where I'm going to stuff all these clutter. Maybe I should put a sign saying "Enter at your own risk" on the master bedroom door. And so many of my sweet bunco mates are offering help. The problem is I feel like I need to clean up for them to come help me clean up if you know what I mean. Now, as for what my hubby would say, "if you start cleaning instead of blogging, the house will be clean". Hmp! Doesn't he know blogging is the fuel that keeps me going!? ;)OK. Ok, I'll clean! I'm logging off now... I am!

A Welcome Like Heaven
2008-06-05 03:16:00
I shared about the home coming of our pastor Kit on this post. Kit was diagnosed with leukemia several months ago and after two unsuccessful chemo treatments on Honolulu, the doctors did not recommend another one. We are not giving up hope. Our trust is in God.So from Honolulu, they came home to Maui on Sunday afternoon. One of our church members put together and excellent slide show which I'd like to share with you HERE....Before you go there, I also would like to mention that I am blogging at the Johnsons' Ohana Blog. The "coming home" was mentioned there several times as an illustration of how our friend Joey will be welcoming us in heaven someday. When you get a chance, I encourage you to leave a comment for my friends Karen and Joe whose grief is beyond words at this time. And so this Thusday, I am thankful for:1) Eternal Life2) Family 3) Church and Friends4) Healing5) Blogging6) Rest and Peace In ChristFor more Thankful Thursday sharing, go to Sting My Heart.

"And he pitched his tent having Bethel on the west and Ai on the east: and there he built an altar." Genesis 12:8Worship is giving God the best that He has given you. Be careful what you do with the best you have. Whenever you get a blessing from God, give it back to Him as a love gift. Take time to meditate before God and offer the blessing back to Him in a deliberate act of worship. If you hoard a thing for yourself, it will turn into spiritual dry rot, as the manna did when it was hoarded. God will never let you hold a spiritual thing for yourself, it has to be given back to Him that He may make it a blessing to others.Bethel is the symbol of communion with God; Ai is the symbol of the world. Abraham pitched his tent between the two. The measure of the worth of our public activity for God is the private profound communion we have with Him. Rush is wrong every time, there is always plenty of time to worship God. Quiet days with God may be a snare. We have to pitch our tents where ...

Thankful Thursday
2008-05-29 07:11:00
This is one of those post... one of those post when I would just type away without any plan. I'll just let it flow because if I don't, I'd get stuck with trying to come up with a brilliant post, only to find out that I do not have a brilliant thing to say. I just want to ramble....Still am shock over the news about Joey. I am constantly praying for his family. I am helping manage a blog that our church set up for them, and what a blessing it is to be able to do that. And then I remember that today is Thankful Thursday . So, that's one of my "Thankful Thursday" thankfulness today.School is almost over. Summer vacation is here. We are thankful. My son would say a loud "amen" to this! Yes, this is my Thankful Thursday number 2.Father's Day is almost here. I am planning to do some posts on Father's Day. I did that last year too. Kinda like the "Mothers Day Series", only lesser post because it's almost here. Click here to see some of the older father's day posts. And so, ...

Fighting Fair In Marriage (Re-post)
2008-05-28 07:37:00
I am so terribly busy I decided to dug up some old WFMW post to use this week. Interestingly, the post below is a great reminder because my hubby and I had a "little fight" this morning. I thought this post might also be helpful to others:My husband and I's recent "blow-out" reminded me how far we've come in terms of "fighting in marriage". I thought this would be a perfect "Works For Me Wednesday" post. No, really, I am serious. My husband and I have grown in this area that I think it's worth sharing. What works for us? It works to know your spouses' "fighting style". It is a key. Not desiring to "win the argument" but to "win over the conflict, to find a solution to the problem". This is part of the big umbrella of we have to know our spouses' "communication style".So, what's our style?Hubby "thinks out loud". He doesn't think before he says something. He says it so he can think about it.I, on the other hand, "think before I speak". the problem is, sometimes I think ...

It Is Well With My Soul ...
2008-05-27 18:01:00
I am thinking and praying for my friends Karen and Joe. This song comes to mind. Think I need to listen to this song for myself too. I woke up stressed this morning. I need to lay it down to Jesus and trust Him instead of being stressed. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows roll;Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,It is well, it is well, with my soul.It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blessed assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,And hath shed His own blood for my soul.It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!It is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my s...

Marriage Is Hard Work
2008-05-27 11:12:00
It's Tackle It Tuesday time, and I am not tackling housework today. I am tackling "marriage". Anyone who's been married knows it's hard work to keep a happy marriage...This weekend had been a combination of hectic schedules, devastating news, and relaxation. It's ironic in a way because part of it is that it was a 3 day weekend and we got to spend a lot of time with friends, but part of it is the stress in my mind that "maybe I should use some of this free time to catch up with chores and personal tasks and projects" that I need to do... but didn't do.This week's little conflicts here and there arose between my husband and I. Nothing serious and thankfully they were resolved easily (compared to our conflicts before) ... nevertheless, I am sitting here in front of the computer typing a post at 11:20 PM because I am stressed by my own doing - by my inability to be firm with my limits simply because I am afraid to be accused to being too rigid and reason for our family's lack ...

Remembering Joey....
2008-05-24 09:44:00
Tonight I we received a bad news ...a very sad news ...our friend Joey died in his sleep...and I am sad ...very sad...Yes, Joey is a Christian...yes, Joey is now in heaven...yes, someday we will see him again...But tonight, tonight we are grieving ...We are grieving the loss of a friend ...A wonderful friend ...My heart goes out to Joey's family, especially his mom...Oh... I cannot imagine,No one can fathom ...the sorrow she is feeling right now....Yes, Joey is in heaven, but tonight,we grieve...we grieve the lossof someone we love...Joey was just a high school kid when we first met him. His family moved in to the house next to our little cottage. I still can remember his smile when I first met him. He was such a sweet teenager. His family is very close to us. Oh... it breaks my heart to think that he is gone.... He is the only son of our good friends Karen and Joe. He has two sisters, Jamie and Joanne, who he's really close with. The whole family is grieving .. and I ask that you...

Here In My Life by Hillsong

I have never walked on waterFelt the waves beneath my feet butAt your Word Lord, I?ll receive YourFaith to walk on oceans deepAnd I remember how You found me:In that very same placeAll my failing surely would've drowned meBut You made a wayYou are my freedomJesus you?re the reasonI?m kneeling again at Your throneWhere would I be without YouHere in my life, here in my life? You have said that all the heavensSing for joy at one who findsThe way to freedom, truth of JesusBought from death into His lifeAnd I remember how You saw me:Through the eyes of Your graceAnd though the cost was Your beloved for meStill you made a way!***UPDATED:This song will be my sharing for "Then Sings My Soul" Saturday meme. We received a sad news yesterday and I don't have much time to elaborate on how this song touched me. What resonates in me right now is the Bible verse when the Apostle Paul said: "To live is Christ, to die is gain".

Prayer For The Chapmans and A Tribute To Maria
2008-05-22 18:47:00
Maria Sue Chapman (2003-2008) Maria Sue Chapman, adopted and youngest daughter to Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, was killed Wednesday night in a tragic accident in the family driveway on Wednesday evening. She was LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital but for only reasons God can explain she went home to Him... not to Franklin as we all so desperately wanted. Your prayers are needed for all in the Chapman family. This is a family who has so generously loved and given to so many. Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman's completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago. These words are unthinkable to type. - Jim Houser (Manager) (taken from this blog, in memory of Maria)***For some details or background, visit Shannon's blog here.UP...

Oh The Buzyness......(Updated)
2008-05-21 05:42:00
It's not even Tuesday yet (started this post Mon pm) and I have tackled a lot already! Yahoo!!! Last night I went to bed a little bit "stressed" because I was not able to do the laundry, wash the dishes, etc. etc. and I have to go to work the next day. We had been very busy on the weekend that I didn't have much time to catch up on chores. But today, when I came home, I powered up and wash the dishes, (pots and and by hand, others by dishwasher), cleaned-up kitchen/dining area, and cooked dinner! I still have to do the laundry but I thought I'd reward myself with some blogging time (5 minutes :) )before I continue doing my chores. And so I have to tackle "laundry" tonight. Aside from that I also would like to be able to create an organized "family schedule" for the remaining days in the month of May and the upcoming month of June. I told my family we are having a "meeting" tonight. We'll write down ALL our schedules (we have weddings to go to, birthday parties, May Day etc...) ...

P.S. I Love You and More.... (busy)
2008-05-19 11:06:00
Tonight I decided to give myself a little break. I rented and watched "P.S. I Love You". This movie received some bad reviews but when I watched it, I like it. Of course I am a hopeless romantic kind of gal so it suits me. I can see why many movie critics didn't like it, but for me, it's romantic and I enjoyed it.Remember my Busy Month of May and Busy Month of June posts last year? This year's May and June are the same. It's busy, busy busy! It's Sunday 10:12 pm and I feel like I need another weekend. I'm not ready to go back to work tomorrow because I have tons of unaccomplished chores. We've been busy and the busyness will continue for the next several weeks...I took a peek at the Organizing Junkie Blog and saw that there are already about 89 people on the Mr. Linky for Menu Plan Monday. I will go back there and take a peek at these people's plan because I am such a failure when it comes to menu planning (maybe I can just copy some). My kids live on Pockets and Saimen an...

Joining China's 3 Days of Mourning ...
2008-05-19 11:04:00
BEICHUAN, China - China will spend three days marking the moment when tens of thousands died in a devastating earthquake, while hope of finding more trapped survivors dwindled Sunday and preventing hunger and disease became more pressing. The government announced an official mourning period starting Monday and asked China's 1.3 billion people to observe three minutes of silence starting at 2:28 p.m. ? exactly one week after the quake killed an estimated 50,000.* Photo and news excerpt from Yahoo.com
