4th Of July At Hosharian Brothers’ Place !
2007-07-06 03:17:00
We spent our Fourth of July at the Hosharian Brother’s house, with great BBQ, Pool, Fireworks, and of course a jamming session to be remembered as always!  I haven’t finished downloading all the photographs, but I decided to post a few that I have handy. As usual, I ate way too much, including 2 cheeseburgers, and 2 hot dogs. Yes, I ate them all, to the last bite :)            More to come soon…

A Favorite of Mine

I took this photograph in Marina Del Rey a couple of years ago on Fourth of July. It has remained as one of my favorite photographs. I thought it’s a good time to re-post this photograph.

Ultimate Gift For an iPhone User
2007-07-02 23:07:00
I ran into this amazing, and useful toilet paper dispenser for any iPhone user. You may ask why? Well, given the features in the iPhone, one while busy, can hear music, watch and/or hear a video podcast, check email, surf the net, check our photographs taken on the iPhone or imported into iPhone, watch a movie or a TV Show, and last but not least, call friends. Personally, I love it

A few shots with my new iPhone
2007-07-02 03:03:00
My wife, a typical skeptic of men’s gadgets, decided to shoot some photos with my new Apple iPhone. Within a few seconds, she was impressed with the ease of use, and I can tell, she really likes the features on the phone. I doubt she will ever admit how much she likes my new toy, but I will be working on her to admit. She, among many others think of me as a Gadget Geek…or better yet, a Mac Head. What can I say. Here are a few shots she took with the phone. The photographs are not bad for a phone camera, but it does have its limitations. Here is one I took on Saturday morning, after friday night’s crazy rush to the Apple store, waiting in line, to get my new toy. Overall experience of the iPhone: Just an amazing gadget. I have been using smart phones for many years, from Nokia to Treo, and I can tell you nothing has come close to this device. If you are an iPod user, I think this is a “must”. The best of all worlds…Great video iPod (with 8GB st...

Long Time No Post & A Very Hot Day
2007-07-02 02:50:00
I haven’t updated this site in so long, I can’t remember all the things that has happened. Since my last post, I moved, and have been busy settling in, and working. Anyway, today was a relaxing day at home. Doing just about nothing, and ended up spending a little time in pool, with none other, Honey. As usual, she wanted to, and got her wish to her daily swim run. She has been swimming almost everyday since we moved here. Today, I joined her, and she was so excited to have me in the pool with her that she would not stop for an hour, until finally she pooped out, and decided to join me on the float. Oh and I forgot…of course, I decided to take my compact digital camera to the pool side, and the moment I got in the pool with the camera, I tripped and the camera got all wet, and now it’s not working. My guess is the camera is dead permanently. So then, I went in and brought out my pride and joy, my Leica M8 and very carefully shot some photographs.

Wind After Effect - Los Angeles
2007-04-14 05:36:00
It was a very windy day yesterday. I could hear the wind all night long, and Honey even felt it when I took her out last night to take care of her business. So today, on my way to my long overdue car wash, I came across this scene on Pico Boulevard. One of the worker in the photograph is the proud owner of the sandwitched car under the tree. He told me that the city promised to reimburse him for the car, but having dealt with the City of Los Angel es in the past, I was thinking to myself, good luck buddy! I am sure they will deduct every imaginable depreciation or what have you, and cut him a small check after months of calling and filling out paperwork. Anyway, let’s sound optimistic.

100th Million iPod Sold
2007-04-10 05:59:00
Today, Apple issued a press release, stating that it has sold 100th Million iPod today. The first generation of iPods began to sell in 2001, and has been the most successful mp3 music player in the world, and has maintained its dominance since its introduction. Funny thing is that I was going through some boxes, and came across my first 10GB iPod. It was the beginning of my addiction to iPods, brought back a few memories, and thought about how many countries I travelled with this little gadget. I have bought several iPods in the past few years, and sold my older models on eBay, but somehow my first iPod got away from being sold in an auction. As new generations have been introduced, and as my music library grew, my iPods had to be replaced with new models, with more capacity, and more features. Of course, like most gadget geeks, I find every excuse possible to upgrade to a new generation iPod, and the current model I have was no exception. In fact my 60GB video iPod, is almost o...

Last Season of HBO’s Sopranos Set for Sunday Night
2007-04-08 03:03:00
Okay, I have to confess. Tomorrow, it’s the first episode of the Season Finale of Sopranos , and I can’t wait. Tony Sopranos and myself have the same name, but that is a complete coincidence, I assure you. Of course, the one question most Soprano fans are asking, is what is going to happen to Tony Spranos. Some speculate that Tony will get whacked, while others speculate that Tony will be arrested, and sent off to proison. HBO, where Sopranos airs, has kept the ending quite hush hush. In fact, the actors don’t even know how the show’s final episode will end. I susptect that the producers will shoot more than on ending, to avoid any rumors, or leaks. I ran into this video on Youtube.com that I just thought it was so well made. It’s a perfect video for those who have not seen or followed Sopranos over the past 4-5 years, and would like a recap before watching the Season Finale. So what do you think will happen to Tony Sopranos in final episode? he kills ...

Another Haircut Day
2007-04-08 01:46:00
I was long overdue for a haircut, and today was the day to visit my regular barber shop, Floyd’s 99 Barbershop on Melrose. As usual, the eclectic hairdressers were busy chopping away mountains of hair. What I love about the place is great music they always have playing loud in the background, and especially on Fridays, and Saturdays they have their DJ playing great music from his catalog of vinyls. As expected, there were quite a few people waiting to chop their heads, and no one really seemed to care to be waiting around, because they can always occupy themselves with the free internet, and pool table to keep customers occupied. Even more expected, I had my camera on me, and of course I decided to pass my wait time by shooting some photographs.

Election Aftermath!
2007-04-06 01:48:00
I was accidently doing some reading on the net, and was doing some search, when I ran into this Craigslist posting. So sad to see that people like this still live in Glendale, or anywhere in this city, state, country for that matter. Glendale has been known for years to be a racist city, and has had its history of the same. Over the past 25-30 years, many Armenians, as well as other ethnic origins moved to Glendale, and Glendale as a result of the influx has benefited, and prospered. And yet, in 21st Century, we still run into morons like the person behind this post. I hope that the Armenian candidates who stole Raffi Manoukian’s votes read this, and go to sleep tonight, realizing not only what they did not accomplish, but how they affected thousands of Armenians who live in Glendale. Also, a few people have asked me for the link to the official results of the 2007 Glendale Election s. So, here is the link, for the specific results.

Glendale City Council Elections 2007
2007-04-05 21:04:00
Tuesday April 3, 2007, was Election day in Glen dale, California. I was asked to help for one of my best friend’s brother, city councilman Raffi Manoukian’s re-election campaign, for his third bid to win a seat on Glendale City Council , by attending various precincts, and observe, and keep an eye for any irregularities. I went to Raffi’s election headquarters at first, where myself, and a few other lawyer friends, were asked to go to various precincts to make sure no voter was turned away for any illegitimate reason. Numerous people were on the phones, trying to get people to go out and vote before the polls closed. High school students were on board too, getting a first hand experience on campaigning, and elections, by calling voters. The race was tight for the two seats, and with 4 Armenians running along with other non-Armenians, the campaigns had become somewhat ugly. Unfortunately, the Armenian candidates decided not to re-unite, but instead decided to make p...

Sizdah Bedar Celebration in Encino California
2007-04-02 06:43:00
Today, it was the Iranian Sizdah Bedar celebration in Encino, Cali fornia . Thousands showed up, to celebrate the end of Iranian New Year, at a picnic held in Encino, California, among other places in the world. The picnic in Encino, as I am sure it is all over the world, is filled with various Iranian food vendors, and live music throughout the day. People from all walks of life, and all ages, celebrate this day with great food, and dancing, and today was no exception. I went to today’s picnic with my wife and her family, and we spent the day relaxing at Lake Encino, people watching, and I pretty much ate most of the day, between taking photographs, and taking a sip of my wine, that I hid in the ice box! Here I am, chasing the ducks for a pose for my camera! And here is me, stuffing my face with cucumber: The following are some of the photographs that I took today, and you can see more by clicking here , or on the images below.

I haven’t written much, or posted anything all week. I am not sure how that works out. There are times, or weeks that I am not in the mood to write anything. In fact, I could be sitting somewhere eating lunch, dinner, or working and I think of something to write about, but then I get lazy, or distracted. Maybe this blog thing isn’t for me. Anyway, I have tons of pictures to post, but I have not posted them yet. Today , I decided to go to Sant a Monica Pier and shoot some photographs, and here are the results. Just click on any of the photos, or here to see the complete set of flash pictures. I will be posting more photos in the next day or two.

Apple’s 1984 Commercial Revisited + Behind The Scenes Video
2007-03-23 06:08:00
This week, almost on daily basis, the news networks have been reporting the Pro Obama & Anti Clinton commercial based on Apple ’s 1984 Superbowl Commercial introducing Apple Macintosh. Obama’s people have denied having anything to do with making the anti Clinton commercial that has been popping up all over the internet, including YouTube.com which has had over a million hit. Today however, Huffington’s people were able to track down, and identy the person behind the commercial, who turned out to be an employee for a Pro Obama campaign firm, who appeared to have fire this person in violation of his employment agreement, wherein he was prohibited to perform any campaign related activity on his own volition or time. The Apple’s 1984 Commercial has been voted numerous times, as the best superbowl commercial ever, and one of the best commercials ever made. The commercial that is based on Orwel’s 1984 book, depicts the IBM as the big brother. This commerci...

Another Day, Another Hanging in Baghdad
2007-03-20 07:55:00
The new so called Iraqi government, the new government that is suppose to replace the former brutal government of Saddam Hussein accused of killing thousands of his fellow countrymen, the new government supported by our wonderful current administration, the new government that is suppose to be the ‘hope’ of Iraqi people, has hanged the former vice president of Iraq. Unlike my usual posts that includes one of my photographs, I am happy to announce, that I was not invited to this hanging event, and therefore, I do not have a photograph to post. I am just so baffled as to how we replaced a government, formerly ran by a dictator, only to replace it with another government allegedly sponsoring death squads killing its own people, only because they are Shiite Muslims. I don’t know how many of you saw a special report by CNN on current Iraqi minister of interior who is accused of torture, and mass murder of individuals because they happen to be Shiite. Of course, he does ...

Anti War Demonstration - Los Angeles, March 17, 2007
2007-03-18 04:37:00
I woke up this morning, after an evening of the best sushi in Los Angel es , with an eye infection. Once again because of not removing my contacts for a few weeks, and sleeping in them. After a morning of excruciating pain, discomfort, and a quick drive to a local Rite Aid for eye pain relief medication, me and my wife were determined to get out, and enjoy the beautiful Saturday. First, we planned on going to Venice, and then we decided to drive through Hollywood, and to our surprise, we found out that most of the streets in Hollywood were closed due to a Anti War Demo nstration, on Hollywood Boulevard. Traffic was horrendous. Los Angeles as usual, got carried away, and city officials and local law enforcement decided to shut down street after street for the demonstration blocks away on Hollywood Boulevard. Being armed with my camera, we decided to park, and check out and see what is going on at the demonstration. So, we finally parked our car several blocks away, and made our way thro...

My New Discovery - Amy Winehouse
2007-03-17 03:17:00
I stumbled into a new, well new for me,  Amy Wine house tracks, that caught my attention immediately. Her voice is so strong, and the Jazzy music just compliments her voice like a glove.  While listening to her, I am reminded of Shirley Bassey. For those of you who don’t know her, remember the bond movie Goldfinger’s theme song? You can check some of her tracks on her website, including a couple of her videos. Go to her website at www.amywinehouse.com and listen to “You Know I am No Good” and “Back o Black”. Those tunes are just HOT!! I found this video clip of her singing with just an acoustic guitar, the song “You Know I Am No Good”

My First Bat Mitzvah
2007-03-15 05:04:00
It was a busy weekend, beginning Saturday with one my friend Greg’s birthday party (pictures here), and Sunday, a dear old friend’s daughter’s Bat Mitzvah party. I had never been to a Bat Mitzvah, and like most people, I thought the term Mat mitzvah referred to the celebration, or the party. So, out of curiousity, I decided to check and find out what the term meant. It turns out, the term Bat Mitzvah means the daughter of the commandments. In essence, it means that the girl, generally at 12 years old, Ais now privileged to participate in all areas of Jewish community life and bear their own responsibility for Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics. My friend, the father of the girl was happy, and proud, and threw an elaborate party with several hundred guests to share the special event. I have known him since I was 16 years old, and I am not going to translate into number of years. Let’s just say, we have known each for some time. As you can imagine, he...

The Rush of Posting Images
2007-03-14 00:17:00
After a few days of not having posted anything on this site, I am now posting more and more photographs from various events and functions all in one day. I guess I am feeling good, and in the mood to work on some photographs. I posted aa set of photographs from a birthday dinner last week at a greek restaurant in the valley for our dear friend Medik. Cozy evening, with great food, and music, and a couple of self portraits! It had only been a couple of days since I got my new Leica M8, and it was an evening of mostly experimentation of exposures, and light. So see the entire collection of the photographs from the evening, click on the photographs below.

Another Hot Day In Valley
2007-03-13 18:06:00
We decided to take Honey to visit my in laws yesterday, and the temperature was in mid 90s, and it took Honey no more than 2 minutes before she decided to jump in the pool to chase fetch and play with Charlie’s balls. Of course, Charlie, my in laws’ rottweiler who is not too fond of the pool, was not too happy to see Honey in the pool chasing his balls. Despite repeated encouragements to have Charlie to jump in the pool, I am afraid Charlie would not take the plunge, and just would not jump in the pool, which was fine for Honey.

Greg’s BirthdayBash
2007-03-13 04:42:00
I have not written in a while. Too much going on, to focus, and sit with a fresh mind to write. I sold virtually all of my Canon camera gear, and ended up buying a new Leica M8 which I love. It’s taking a little time getting use to the camera, and shooting some photographs whenever I get a chance, but I decided to post some photographs I took over Saturday night at a friend’s party. As usual, Greg and his band played their awesome music in his studio at his house, and I couldn’t resist to take my camera and shoot some photographs. There were a few other events in the past week or two that I am still working on developing and post processing them, and I will add them as time allows. You can see the photographs of Greg’s party by clicking here or on the image.

Procrastination 101
2007-02-21 01:13:00
I finished work early today, not that I did much, and as usual, in the morning I promised myself to finish developing the last 3 undeveloped rolls of film, that have been sitting on my desk starring at me for a couple of weeks. In fact, one of the rolls is probably the last roll left from my trip to Asia. Sometimes I think I have a special skill at procrastination, and my specialty is finding reasons, especially really good ones, not to do a task, or putting a task aside to do later. So, this afternoon, I am destined to process and develop at least two of the rolls and see what is in them. Of course, the moment I get my chemicals together in the kitchen, and start the process, and I develop a roll of film, the excitement builds up, as I can’t wait to see how the roll of film came out. Generally, they come out great, with the exception of an incident a month ago, when I processed two rolls of film, and the film came out all fogged up, and I could not for the life of me figure...

Looking at President’s Day
2007-02-19 21:15:00
Cheers to our past presidents who had the vision to appreciate the future, and understood that music will withstand time. Even George, not George W. Bush, but the real George knew that an iPod was inevitable in every household nearly 200 years later. Abe, almost had it right, but fell just a tad short on his predictions. The real George of course, is dilusional, and doesn’t even have the vision to see that his decision to invade Iraq, was the biggest blunder in U.S. history. In fact, during his speech on President ’s day, he was still trying to sell his idea that the Iraq war, was neccessary to protect U.S. national security, and that despite the surge in violence, and innocent Iraqi’s being killed by dozens every day, that he will be victorious.
