BlogCamp
2006-12-02 15:33:02
Chennai city happens to be the proud owner of India's most active bloggers, ours is the prime, numero uno blogging community among all the metropolitans in India. True to its fame it is also going to host Inidi's first Blog ging Unconference. What is an unconference - It is a gathering where people come to learn about a certain topic (in this case blogging) but to attend the gathering they must be a part of organising it. they can either deliver a lecture themselves or help administratively or can help with the pre-event publicity and to cover the event live by blogging, podcasting, videocasting, etc. What can be learnt at BlogCamp - It is going to be asia's largest unconference where top names from the blogosphere and commoners like me are gonna share information on an equal platform. You can learn about metroblogging, RSS, P2P feeds, journalism thro blogs, blogging as profession, moblogging, copyrights and expression, vlogging, censorship and more...When and where is it - Its goin...

Mistaken Identity...!!!
2006-12-02 15:33:02
After about a month I woke up at 6AM today to drag myself to college and collect my Hall ticket. Actually managed to catch the bus on time in my stop which in my case is an achievement worthy to be blogged about. Anyway, the short story unfolds..After collecting the hall ticket, meeting Humanities Dept. Prof, hanging out in the canteen, having lunch and wasting four valuable hours in college driving each other mad with 'mokke', at the fag end of the day ganesh and myself are standing outside the canteen, my back turned towards him as i was breezing through the notice board. After realising that not a single notice there was put up in the last month I turn around and there's a first year mumbling something to Ganesh. Ganesh is unable to make head or tail of the junies gibberish and so I butt in, "What do you want?"Junie replies, "pyaar." Puzzled, I ask, "Huh!!??!! What??" He repeats "pier" and to that I respond "excuse me." Finally he manages to gather enough courage to say "Im sor...

Effects of Boredom.. Dedicated to DG - DreamGirl
2006-12-02 15:33:02
In a desperate attempt to post something interesting on the blog I have decided to let my mind run wild and have given my fingers a life of their own. Considering how mundane the day has been with everyone I know from college other than myself making a sincere attempt to study for the fast arriving end semester exams, reality posting is out of the question.A gifted blogger would have probably written an ode to a useless day, a post over run with sarcasm that would have had you rolling on the floor with laughter, but I shall refrain from wiping your dirty floors with your dirtier clothes (if any) and instead write a spontaneous post in a truly extempore style.I fell in love once, yes even me and it was the best time of my life. I hoped it would last forever alas college came and I was forced to wake up and get off the bus. The serene experience however left a lasting memory. Thus I shall narrate that dream..There I was, standing in the beach just as the sun set my pants rolled up jus...

2006-12-02 15:33:02
I know Im relatively new to the blogosphere compared to most of my blog buddies whose links i've put up in the side. Anyway, some details about my blog. Also known as 'Self-Jaalra.'1. Google PageRank ranks it 3. WooHOO..!! I know thats only 30% and if I got as much in a semester exam, I'd have an arrear but hey.. Its google not AnnaUniv so WooHoo..!!2. In RantingHuman's blog, out of the available 40 links (excluding the archive's and previous posts) the link to my blog is the sixth most popular link.. If u were to visit his blog and scroll over the link to my blog available in the left sidebar, sixth one from the top, a box will pop stating so.3. If you search for 'udan' on google,my blog turns up on the fourth page. Information courtesy, Bob&Jill a couple in Georgia, USA who are starting a farm named UdanFarm and came across my blog. They had mailed me to find out what 'udan' meant. Where 'udan' comes from, find out here.4. In a certain test my blog was rated such..Hmmm...

Of authors.. Foreign and Local...!!!
2006-12-02 15:33:02
I have a not entirely good habit of purchasing books to study from only two days before the exam. So I go to 'KAMAAL Stores' to buy a book for Electronic Devices. I ask the shopkeeper for a book and he asks me "ECE aa, EEE aa ille MECHANICAL aa..?"Thus starts my ode to authors, syllabi and Anna Univ. Why does it matter if Im in Mechanical, EEE or ECE..? Its the same subject.. Aah.. But the syllabus is different. Ok, that is acceptable I suppose. Contented, I decided to purchase the EEE version, a sensible choice considering I study EEE and true to the words of a friend, who does not study in the last minute, I purchased a local author. Mr.Bakshi.. Why is it so important to buy a local author.. ?? Let me illustrate. How a Foreign author writes a book-Step 1: Possess a high level of understanding of a subject and obtain a Ph.D from an esteemed institution.Step 2: Gain experience by either working as a teacher/lecturer or in the research field or in any related field.Step 3: Present d...

He has a son and is heading to Mumbai on official business.A sodabuddi Mumbaikkar(MbkR), a thatha (grandpa) who is self learning linear computer programming.A peter patti(PepA), an octagenarian who spoke only in English and was heading to Mumbai for the final ceremonies of a late relative. We didn't get acquainted on the first night, sagaro and myself climbed to our respective upper berths got comfortable. Ore azhagai kandeneSeriously, Mumbai is flooded with the bold and the beatiful. Every second girl looks nice and every fourth one looks ..........., yet to find a superlative to describe how good they look. The best part, you don't have to go to the hep centre to oggle at the babes, they're everywhere. Bah, forget Chennai, I've been to Bangalore and Delhi but those metros are just parched compared to MUMBAIIEEE...!!! Its every guys paradise, not only are these female specimens profound to perfection they are down to earth.. They actually travel by bus, by train, their choice of public transport does not start with the Autorickshaw..!! Simply put, they might just be a little lighter on a guy's wallet..NostalgiaSagaro with whom I went to Mumbai is originally from Mumbai himself. Having spent a considerable portion of his childhood there, he is by heart a Mumbaikar and the trip served a dual purpose of reconnecting with his Marati roots. I accompanied him on a trip down memory lane...

Im back for good...!!!!
2006-12-02 15:33:02
Ok..1. Chuck the Baggy in Banglore post.. Its too late for that.2. I have been outstation more in the first three months of 2006 than ever before in my life.3. My internet connection is so irritating, it keeps conking off once every four days.4. I called the hathway call centre, the office and the technical desk and blasted everyone from the security and janitor to the head of public relations like I've never screwed anyone before in my life.It was extremely satisfying, I got me net reconnected and my bill for the month of February has been waived.5. I announce my arrival back to the blogging world with this extremely uncharacteristic, unstylish and unnecessary post.6. Im sure I will have a lot to post about soon as I am off to Mauritius on 27th February 2006 from where I will be sailing to India in the MV Explorer as a part of the semester at sea program.Thank You.

Miles to go before I sleep...
2006-12-02 15:33:02
And Mile s to go before I sleep....!!I first encountered these lines during standard eight or nine, I still don't entirely understand them but I know they have something to do with someone doing anything sometime and thus doing everything anytime before he falls asleep. With my limited comprehension of the lines, I still decided it was a good title because it sounded more deep and insightful than "Things I'd like to Do" which sounds like a fourth standard kid writing his first essay.Statuory Warning: Assuming that since the title doesn't sound like that of a fourth standard essay the post will not be one can lead to depression due to disheartenment and crushing of expectations.Lately I've come to realise that at some point in life I would like to take over my dad's business and do justice to the family heritage, etc. But these two mundane years spent in Sri Venkateswara College of utter stupidity have made me realise engineering is NOT for me. So I decided to make a list of thin...

Translated the title reads, 'Diwali spent with the Poli ce .'This diwali morning, I spent time at the Shastri Nagar Police station.. Not because i got into a drunken brawl after the late night party the previous night but because...I had woken up that morning, really early (3.45AM), lit fireworks, had an oil bath and dressed in a new 'kudtha'(ethnic long t-shirt). Headed out with family to visit relatives, distribute sweets, wish everyone a happy diwali and in general do the spread goodwill, love and warmth routine.Half way through our joyride, with aching jaws(due to flashing smiles that stretch beyond the limits of human lips), a sick stomach(tooo many sweets) and constant cursing for having selected to wear the full sleeved kudtha in the sultry weather, my dad received a call. It was the driver. The conversation in brief:Voice In Phone(VIP): Sir, oru chinna accidentDad: Oru Nimisham. (Passes phone to mom)Mom : Enna aachchu?VIP: Amma, avan dhideernu break adichchutaama. Movie : Ghajini Language : Tamil (must not be dubbed into any other language)Genre : Mystery/Thriller - (Yeah Right..!!)Rating : 100 (On a scale of 100000000000...........000000000)What went Wrong...???!!!You are provided with a new interesting concept, a succesful hero, a beatiful heroine and two hit songs and you still want the movie to be a total waste of time and money(which is saying a lot cos i saw the movie only cos i had nothing else to do and in Theyagaraja where the ticket costs some thirty bucks).. Then you should contact Mr. Murugadoss scribe and director of Ghajini, Surya's latest Flick (I beg of him to not flick anymore like this)..The movie has Surya a rising star in the lead, he has done his job decently enough and it has Asin the latest, hottest heartthrob of many (including yours truly). The concept is new, interesting, appreciable and as in most cases stolen from hollywood movie, in this case 'Momento'(info courtesy : a friend). So they got the right lead pair a...

The Coll ege is NOT my Parent...The following words are an outburst of a student facing the ban on cell phones and the prescription of a dress code by Anna University. Reader discretion is advised. The college plays an important role in getting its students ready to face what lies beyond campus walls, but instead its trying to portray a problem free life which will make students enter realm of reality unprepared to face existent life problems. In school, our teachers protected us, they taught what is right and punished us for committing mistakes. College is not meant to extend the same service, it is supposed to encourage thinking and should teach us to analyse for ourselves the nature of a given situation.Anna University is imposing rules that are subsidising the true principles based upon which the institution called college was once started. College is a bridge helping us crossover from innocence to truth; these laws meant to strengthen the structure are only slowly causing it to c...

If u care enough that is...Blogging isn't easy, I jus realised to maintain a regular, good blog one must be highly innovative and also possess an admirable control over his medium of communication (mine - mostly english) to tranform lipid everyday occurences into interesting and funny textual media that transports the readers to a world of succulent smiles, thus making an onlooker looking at the person reading the blog, wonder what content in the PC monitor (laptop/palmtop/cell phone as case maybe) has rendered the person with such a satisfactory expression..On a free weekday (free - no college, day - tuesday), at noon, I have situated myself behind the keyboard (or in front, based on point of reference) to get myself effectively into the habit of blogging regularly, a decision that was inspired by the last one hour that I spent ...

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMThere are a lot of articles written stating the growing pressures on the students due to education curriculum, vast syllabus, etc. But, it is of course necessary to study updated syllabuses and keep up with the constantly improving technology. The constant complaints about college life not being as much fun as it was and pressures of students having greatly increased, where do these then arise. I think there are primarily few reasons, such as....1. Growth of population. This has led to of course growth in competition and need to survive. Thus more students are doing engineering while number of jobs is still comparitively less. Thus students try to compete with one and another. However such a competition is healthy as it only helps bring out a person's entire potential.2. Ideas fed into students minds by parents and media. Students come into college wanting to be treated in a completely different manner and expecting there to be an atrocious level of freedom handed ...

2005-07-25 07:19:00
Peer Group s..!! ----- INCOMPLETEWhen you step into college from school and you have a large congregation of people of different backgrounds, characters, faiths and paths under one roof. Physically enclosing them into one sphere is a task easily accomplished by leading them into large cubes and seating them within cuboids (class room and benches), my addiction towards geometrical description will end here. Having brought them together physically, the institution's requirements are met but to unite them mentally is easier said than done. College signifies different things to different students. Some see hope of life filled with excitement, others see dreams of a different environment where they can sport a new image different from what they were in school. College life to most is synonymous with wild parties, wilder girls (and guys), access to alcohol and FUN. I decided to attempt and part the crowd into sections of people having similiar interests and desires and bring to light the ...
