GOP Strategist: "Hilary Clinton Coming Over Hill with Pitchfork" .. and Oth
2007-10-15 23:30:00 For the last few months, I've been taking the train several times a month between Baltimore to my gig in Connecticut or New York City. And during those trips, mostly on Amtrak's business Acela service, I've always been amazed at the conversations people have on cell phones that are well within earshot of other passengers. They talk about acquisitions, firing and hiring people, competitive issues and so much other stuff that even if a few of them leaked or were overheard by the wrong person I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a good day for the person who is oblivious to their conversation being overheard. Today is one of the more exceptional versions. read more More About: Hilary Clinton , Hilary , Clinton , Hill , Linton
Virgin Fest 2008 Pictures - Baltimore
2007-08-06 05:27:00 I missed meeting Richard Branson by about 10 feet, and it was rainy on Sunday, but overall the 2008 Virgin Fest at Pimlico in Baltimore was...well..festive. A lot better than some horses running around the track. Here are some pics of Amy Winehouse and Regina Spektor I took. Specktor was definitely one of my favorite acts, along with the Beastie Boys and of course the Police (thus leaving no time for pictures for those two.). Amy wasn't bad, just a bit odd of a stage presence. Check out the cool reflection in the piano on the Regina pix! read more More About: Pictures
Alcohol, Firefighters STILL A Bad Mix
2007-08-01 00:22:00 In 2003, a beautiful, intelligent, driven 16-year-old firefighter was killed when the fire truck she was riding in was killed by a drunk driver. Sadly, that driver was driving the fire truck! According to Re/Max, I Need to Get a Life!
2007-07-31 23:39:00 What happens when you complain about spam from a real estate site, only to have a Re/Max agent go WILD when you ask everyone to not continue the spam chain? Here, you'll find out. And the end isn't pretty. Not only am I uncool, I need to get a life. Or do I? Earlier today, I got an e-mail from a newspaper chain that I placed a real estate ad on asking me if I was interested in some new advertising opportunities. Not a big deal, really. BUT, the classified rep who sent it mistakingly (presumably) openly CC'd her entire contact list of about 200 people. So of course, immediately a few folks hit the 'reply to all' button so all 200 of us got the complaint that was really just intended for the sales rep. In an effort to stop the presumed endless chain of 'replies' that was about to be forthcoming (including the first one that said "When we placed our ad we had no idea that we would receive crank calls and scam solitations. It is unfortunate and I hope... More About: Life , Get a life , Cord , Accord

I Want to Go to the Zoo
2007-04-02 07:14:00 A fun trip to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. on April 1st ... see some of the fun animals you too can see. Actually I'm a little fonder of the San Diego Zoo, there's a hippo there named Jabba that is just the cat's pajamas, and alot more animals will be outside in the summer so the photo gallery isn't all it can be.Here are some of the more festive pics ... click here to view all of them on Flickr. read more More About: Want
Peyton Does SNL
2007-03-26 09:08:00 I'm rarely disappointed about missing SNL, but this week looks like it was that 'one episode' a year that is actually worth viewing these days. Where oh where is Will Farrel when you need him. Looks like Peyton did a festive job nonetheless. Most of the clips of the "United Way" commercial have been taken off YouTube, but I highly recommend finding it and downloading it if you can. Funny stuff. Almost as funny as the Chronicles of Narnia song. Almost. read more

Terps Tops Heels, and a Snowman (Well, Kinda) Smiles
2007-02-27 00:31:01 Not much to say here, but the Terps rock. For now. Duke coming up Wednesday. Is 10-6 and a share of the ACC regular season title a pipe dream? Probably. But second or third place won't be too shabby either. Besides the ritual of rubbing Testudo's snoz as you come into the Comcast Center (used to be physically inside Cole Field House), there was also a new Testudo to be seen following the six inch or so 'blizzard' that all 17,900+ fans braved (ok, so it let up before the game) ... pictured left. (Click Here for Full Size Pics) And after the game, getting some quality square pizza at the ORIGINAL Ledo's on University Blvd. in Adelphi (not to be confused with the less festive but still tasty franchise outlets) was nice, and a nice added treat was sitting across from Terp legend Tom McMillen. So hopefully, this joyful scene (pictured right) .... is just the beginning since we've got a few passionate players graduatin' ... read more More About: Tops , Miles , Snow , Smile , Mile
When Everything Goes Wrong: A Baltimore City Rookie Firefighter Lost
2007-02-25 06:28:02 A few weeks ago, Friday, February 9th, I was heading from Baltimore to Beltsville to a meeting with the National Volunteer Fire Council. As I cleared downtown on 95, I looked off to the right and saw a decent column of smoke. Looked like a pretty good fire. But it was pretty far from 'pretty' anything. Just hours later I learned that fire claimed the life of a Baltimore City rookie firefighter, 29-year-old Racheal Wilson. The mother of two was pronounced dead at Shock Trauma. Today's Baltimore Sun article entitled 'High Window, Trapped Boot: Fire Department report details events and mistakes that led to recruit's death' is a detailed, harrowing account of what went wrong in a row house that, from all indications, should never have been used for a live fire burn. While we're just in the first few weeks of the investigation, heads have already rolled. And it wouldn't be all that shocking if they are not the only ones in the long run. The head of train... More About: Lost , Fight , Everything

Nancy Grace, Matt Lauer and the Anna Nicole Disaster
2007-02-24 18:28:01 For the first time I watched Nancy Grace on CNN during the Anna Nicole Smith burial decision. I've pretty much avoided most of the Anna Nicole madness, but it was the middle of the afternoon and frankly nothing else was on, and people on IM were prodding me for details because, well, they knew I was in front of a TV and had nothing better to do at the moment. So the judge renders his decision, blah blah blah. Off to the 'react' from Nancy Grace. What a pitiful display. First, they start discussing whether the judge should have cried. OK, so thats a decent discussion since that was indeed a bit oddball, but given the entire circus of the thing, probably pretty normal. Then, before the body is even in the ground ... and only a few minutes after the sappy, crying judge rendered his decision, Nancy starts asking her panel what happens if someone else is later granted custody of the baby (based on the DNA results), what would be the process for exhuming the body. ... The Terps Final Three
2007-02-24 18:28:01 So Maryland whooped Florida State the other night. I nearly fell on my butt while walking from Los Panchos to the Comcast Center, but luckily I was in good company so I would have been saved I'm sure. Parking at Los Panchos is a good little secret since all you have to do is walk from the bridge behind the high rise, across old Lot 4, and right past Testudo (be sure to rub the nose), and into the Comcast Center. The game was far too close during the first half, but the Terps (namely D.J. Strawberry initially) got their jams on in the second half and blew the game wide open.Which brings us to this weekend, when Terps, 7-6 in the ACC now and continuing to build on the 20+ wins, take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Some Tar Heels fan on the ESPN forums (OK, so I really do have too much time on my hands), was complaining that Terp Fans are the absolute worst because, god forbid, they started chanting the FSU fight song (the chop) at the end of the game.read more More About: Final , Three , Fina
Google: Hosted Service Takes a Step Up
2007-02-24 18:28:01 Google has taken some significant steps forward in recent months as it seemingly moves to provide any and every service possible for Intranet, Internet and Desktop needs. This week, Google announced it has expanded its Google Apps series of products to the corporate environment with its 'Premier Edition', providing e-mail services (most specifically) that rival -- or in most cases destroy -- the capabilities of existing corporate e-mail. For a seemingly low $50 per user annually (free through April if you upgrade now), each corporate user will get an insane 10GB of storage with all the functionality of a traditional GMail account (which by the way just added the abilty on a Beta basis to now get e-mail from any account). Additionally, the Premier version offers APIs for business integration and single sign-on with existing internets, 24/7 support for critical issues (including phone support, which has been relatively unheard of from Google). And perhaps most importantly, the ... More About: Google , Service , Take , Host , Step |
