Tsar Bomb, Lets Create Earth Quakes
2007-10-12 23:15:00
You’ll be amazed when you see this video [click here]; it shows the brutality and the destruction that could cause by a nuclear explosion. This three stage weapon nick named Tsar Bomb was actually a 100 megaton bomb design, and was the biggest nuke to be ever built; the size of the test bomb had to be reduced by half to prevent a nuclear fall-out. The bomb was dropped using a parachute to give time for the plane to reach at least 45km away from ground zero. The fireball reached the height of the release plane which was three times the height of world’s tallest mountain, Himalayas. It generated earth quake of magnitude 5.25 despite the fact that it exploded in mid air. The 50 Mt test was capable in principle of inflicting third degree burns at a distance of up to 100 km. After finding these facts about the bomb one thing came into my mind, if a bomb was exploded in a geological fault line, could it trigger earth quake? I think it could be done. An earth quake is generated by rel...

Understanding My Wife
2007-10-08 15:35:00
I was married for like two years , and more I spent my married life the more I understand how mysterious women are. Why can't they be simple like us ?I mean she can always tell if I'm lying just by looking at my face. These are the few facts I have understood (learned) about my wife, generally it applies to any average women (I think). This could be useful if you are thinking of getting married one day, its wise to learn from mistakes but smarter to learn from others mistakes.1. Best way to remember her birth day is to forget it once (I did it twice now i remember birth time also)2. If she tells you the same joke,story,gossip..etc for the 20 th time, never try to complete the story or to tell her that you already knew that. (Show the same interest that you have shown the first time, its hard,i know, but its worth doing)3. The day that you first met,day that you asked her,the day you first kissed her, color of the dress she was wearing ,first that ,first this, all these days are equ...

Just Before The Crash
2007-10-05 07:12:00
This photograph is taken microseconds before a plane crashed on the ground, photographer must have been really lucky. At first i thought this was a fake photograph but after some research found out this was actually a true incident. You can even see the pilots grabbing each other in confusion. This was a result of sudden breaking during the landing, pilots were only injured I suppose. Do you have any Idea what they were trying to do, are they are grabbing each other or trying to gain control.

One extraordinary fact about Seychelles is that , some times you can have a whole beach like this just for yourself. As you can see in the picture , there was nobody around except me, perfect place for photographers. If you have "Sex on the beach" in mind, this is the right place for you. Anorexic Woman

This is a shocking photograph of a naked anorexic woman, shot by Oliviero Toscani. This is result of a eating disorder common in the fashion world.Anorexia is an eating disorder where people starve themselves.Anorexics have an intense fear of becoming fat. Their dieting habits develop from this fear. Anorexia mainly affects adolescent girls.Read more, The stark picture of the emaciated French-born actress Isabelle Caro — who stands 5 feet, 5 inches tall (1.65 m) and weighs just 70 pounds (32 kg) — is accompanied by the words: "No Anorexia." Brand new helicopter
2007-09-27 10:05:00
I went to a tourism exhibition yesterday, and found this cool brand new helicopter parked just out side the hall. There was a team of people who wanted to promote their new helicopter service in Seychelles .I edged closer to have a look, a guy (probably the pilot) called me and said " Get in of you want, sit on the pilot seat if you want to see how it feels,” I was like " WOW,okey". That machine was really cool, the guy explained all the controls to me, but I was kind of afraid to touch any controls, there were 1000's of them. It’s hard to believe that thing could fly; I mean it was like a toy, the size of the engine could be similar to a car engine.me in helicopter, originally uploaded by poojitha. helicopter, originally uploaded by poojitha.

Save This Place
2007-09-26 07:09:00
Rocks & Beach, originally uploaded by poojitha. In 30 years time this beautiful beach and the small island in this picture will be gone, I would only have this picture to show my grand children that this was a place that i visited long ago. They will listen wide eyed when I say how I swam up to the island to watch beautiful fishes, and how many of them surrounded me without any fear. It would be like a fairy tale for them, when I describe how beautiful and colorful the coral reefs were. They will ask me what happened to that beautiful place and the fish. I would say “pollution killed the fish, Global warming destroyed the beach". They would definitely envy us being so selfish, for not doing simple things that could have done to save this place for them to see.

How To Torture Slaves
2007-09-24 07:10:00
I visited the museum in Victoria recently. The most interesting things were the tools they used to torture slaves, some were designed to stop them from running away, like long hooks around the neck which prevents them from venturing in to the thick forest. Its hard to believe that humans were treated like this few centuries ago. Once I heard some where that Africans were once displayed as animals in zoos, don't know if that its true but I'm proud that sri lankan history was never tainted by such inhuman acts, maybe because of Buddhist culture. But some believes that slavery still exist in different form even today, only difference is that they don't use chains anymore.

Lobster ,A Gadget to Beat i-Phone
2007-09-21 05:32:00
This is a modularized conceptual multimedia device, which means each module attached to the central control module has a different function like phone, camera and Mp3. Advantage of this device is that we can decide which module to buy or not.The device looks like a lobsters tail when all the modules are attached and it could be wrapped around your wrist. This futuristic design has an MP3 module, a GPS one, a hard drive, a camera, a mobile phone and a heart rate monitor. If this kind of design comes in to market, it would surely beat i-phone, I was dreaming about something like this. This attractive concept device is designed by designer Danilo Mangini.

:-) Turns Twenty Five
2007-09-18 17:54:00
Twenty five years ago university professor Scott E. Fahlman used ,a colon followed by a hyphen and a parenthesis -- as a horizontal "smiley face :-)" in a computer message. he posted the message to an online electronic bulletin board at 11:44 a.m. on September 19, 1982. He believes that he's the first one to use :-) since nobody ever claimed to have invented it before him . Eventually other emoticons were invented by the internet users [ :-( ;-) :-D :-p :-S :- ] . I think he changed the way we express ourselves in the internet, I've always got a better feeling when some one type :-) than typing "I'm Happy or thats funny" . Hey i think i invented one too, type (:-)) when you use google chat, it will bring a complete smiling face (just kidding). Actually i got this idea when i was chatting with a friend of mine, maybe it was used before me. Anyway " Happy :-) Day". Read the full story.

Taleban Attacks Buddha Again , WHY?
2007-09-16 18:22:00
Statue in PakistanWould you destroy Taj Mahal because it was build by a Muslim? Would you destroy the giant Pyramids in Egypt because its a Muslim country? I know the answer, its big NO, right? These things don't belong to a specific religion or a race, they belong to the whole world, these things portray the development of man kind, they are treasures, they belong to US! , not everybody think like that. Today I was shocked to here that a giant Buddha statue in Pakistan was destroyed by Muslim fundamentalists group called Taleban . This is not the first time they did something like this, in March 2001 as Afghanistan's then rulers destroyed the 6th-Century Bamiyan Buddhas. The Taleban said they were offensive to Islam , it was the biggest Buddha statue in the whole world.Bhamian Statue in AfganistanThe statue destroyed recently which is 2200 years old was carved into a 40m (130-foot) high rock,it was considered largest in Asia. I can't understand these people, they are erasing t...

Universe, Bacteria & Myself
2007-09-15 05:11:00
This is a small thought occurred to me today, not that small though, it’s about the universe. I usually try to compare myself to the vastness of the universe, go out on a starry night lie down on the lawn, look at the stars and wonder how far it could go, how many beings like you doing the same thing at the same moment and wondering are we alone, you’ll feel really small, but you’ll enjoy that. Let’s say bacteria got the brains to think and reason and so on, so there is an intelligent bacterium who wants to understand its environment and why he’s there. At room temperature and normal humidity, Escherichia coli (E. coli), bacteria found in ground beef that causes food poisoning, can live for a few hours to a day.So within that short period of time it’s impossible for him to even find out that there is a night & day, or at least that he’s living in a piece of meat. Even if they pass down the knowledge for generations to come, it’s nearly impossible to think that th...

Escaped a Crocodile
2007-09-10 17:06:00
I like to present this as a short story, but this story is based on a true incident which happened to me when i was very young. Hope to see some helpful comments like you did for the previous story.I was very young at that time, probably 14 years old. We used to swim in the river near my home .Its the largest river in sri lanka , called Mahaveli. I don't know how many times we were punished by our parent for going there secretly, rivers are very dangerous, more dangerous than the sea, specially for inexperienced. The place we used to swim was ideal for swimming. I mean ideally dangerous, large rocks emerging here and there made currents coil in many different directions. At that age we were always attracted to danger, don't know why, used to brag afterwards on how we almost got drowned or how the current dragged us so far down. Once I almost got drowned, caught up with a strong current and went under water to emerge further down the river, gasping for air and coughing at the same ...

Apocalypto
2007-09-07 22:02:00
The movie Apocalypto is a gripping tale of a tribesman who fights to save his family from a group of blood thirsty Mayans. Mayan civilization is on of the greatest and mysterious civilization in the world. The movie recreates the rituals of Mayans and their culture. The movie is nonstop action and adventure, I would have loved the movie more if there was less blood, the heart ripping scene will definitely make you shiver. There was this hilarious scene at the beginning of the movie. The tribes men make fun of a guy who’s unable to make his wife pregnant, then one guy gives him a magic powder promising him that it would do the trick if he rub it on his penis before he had sex. So the guy goes home and try to apply his newly gained wisdom in to practice, but within minutes he comes out running crying for water to wash his penis, and his wife comes out and start washing her mouth, magic poison turns out to be chilly powder.
Sun Bird Nest Completed
2007-09-04 18:11:00
Sun Bird , originally uploaded by poojitha. I decided to keep the nest as it is, because I was feeling bit uneasy of removing it. They were very busy for the last 4 days, now the nest is almost complete, saw them bringing feathers to decorate the interior, actually its more of a comforting tactic i guess. They were placing the feathers inside and wiggle their bodies to make them flat, pretty cute. My door is a tinted glass sliding door, so its easy for me to observe the nest without being noticed by the birds.I hope they would lay some eggs soon, love to here them sing, they have a beautiful voice despite their appearance .

Sun Bird So Close
2007-09-01 20:59:00
I have a big problem to solve now, actually its right in front of my door step. I found it today when I returned from shopping in town. There was this nice plant always full of beautiful flowers in front of my veranda which spreads its creepers all over the place . It actually grew in to the veranda covering part of it, I didn't mind. But a bird (Seychelles Sun Bird ) has started to build a sweet little hanging nest on a creeper right in front of the door; actually I was thinking of cutting down that part of the creeper since it always brushed on our legs when we go out. It was fascinating to watch these two birds bringing dried out leaves and cob webs to build their nest. They have a very beautiful voice, if you care to listen. But the location they have chosen to build the nest is not very logical in my opinion. When ever I go out the birds fly away hastily and it makes me feel guilty. If they decide to lay eggs, I may have to use the back door; I mean I really feels uneasy in this...

Chimpanzee is my Auntie
2007-08-29 18:34:00
Photograph copyright Karen HunttIn 2003, study by a group of scientists revealed that we are genetically quite similar to chimpanzees. ‘That explains everything,’ my wife said, looking at me thoughtfully. I was surprised by the fact that humans are 99% genetically identical to the chimpanzees. The scientist who produced the evidence claims that the chimps (Pan troglodytes) should be reclassified as Homo troglodytes. This lead to a huge debate among the scientific community since this was clearly violating the historical classification schemes. In 2006, to make matters worse scientists suggested that earliest known ancestors of modern humans might have reproduced with early chimpanzees to create a hybrid species which eventually evolved in to modern humans (that explains 99%). Then in 2007 a study revealed that chimps may have evolved more than humans in the 6 or 7 million years since both diverged from a common ancestor. This is startling news, does that means chimpanzees are t...

Harry Potter Book For Free
2007-08-28 05:06:00
I’m a big Harry Potter fan, I was craving to read the latest book, but unfortunately I couldn’t find a book at the only book store in town, sold out I guess. Reviews and all those media hype was making me crazy, decided to take a drastic measure, downloading an e-book, a pirated copy. I did some extensive search of my own, bingo; I manage to download the book for FREE. This is not the right thing to do, I felt guilty, J. K Rowling needs to be paid for her amazingly creative work, and she definitely deserves it. But at the same time I should find a way to stop me from going crazy also, so I made promise to my self, read the pirated copy now (just to prevent me from going crazy, you know) and buy the book later.

Genetically Modified
2007-08-24 18:37:00
This picture is disturbing isn’t it? Is it possible to do some thing like this. An interbreed of humans and animals, I bet it would be done in the near future. Recently scientists created a genetically modified fish that glow in the dark. It’s called GloFish, patented and for sale at 5$ dollar per fish. Some people are against genetic engineering saying it’s unethical or against gods will. After successfully mapping the human gnome, we entered in to a new era of genetics. American companies are busy patenting our genes, more than 1/5 of our genes are already owned by some one else (more than 4,000 genes, or 20 percent of the almost 24,000 human genes, have been claimed in U.S. patents). You may not understand impact of this on our life, let’s say you want to invent a drug to cure some illness and that drug affects a gene which was patented by another company, you won’t be able to experiment that drug without paying royalty to the company which patented that gene. Can’...

Biggest Carp ever to be caught

This carp weighing staggering 290Lb was caught by a Tai fisherman who was testing his newly build fishing rod. Must have been a big surprise for him ,and for the fish too.I found this strange mythological belief in china, that if a carp can jump over a water fall from belove ,where they believe that a place called dragon gate exists, the carp can turn in to a beautiful dragon.Thank god that this one didn't jump, could have been a huge dragon.

Some times when group of people gather they share funny stories, specially in parties. This is one of the best I heard, that guy repeats this in almost every party & we still enjoy it, best told in my native language Sinhala, so I have a Sinhala translation below for those who can read. If you see some squares, don’t worry, it means you don’t have Sinhala Unicode font. One day a devoted Buddhist layman who used to visit the temple frequently for dharma talks found that the head monk had gone out for a sermon, so he decided to have a bath in the head monk’s bath room. While he was taking the bath, head monk returned and entered the bath room, unaware of his presence. He was naked, so he quickly grabbed a plastic washbasin which was nearby & covered his private parts. Both were speech less and unable to utter a word. The devote ,thinking of breaking the silence, ’I came here to ask the meaning of a difficult Pali word’ .Since Buddhism is written in a language called Pali, ...

300,beautiful !
2007-07-15 16:12:00
The moment I came home after watching the movie 300 ,I was compelled to share the thought with you. If some one asked me ‘How’s the movie?’ There is only one answer ‘Beautiful ‘.300 is about heroism in the face of insurmountable odds. I felt like reading a story book filled with most beautiful pictures, I have never seen a movie with this type of awesome camera angles, every frame of the movie is worth watching and picture perfect. It’s like playing the most expensive video game. The movie explores the bravery of 300 Spartans who fought to death against a huge Persian army; some argues about its historical accuracy, for them ,all I have to say is ‘If you want accuracy watch an encyclopedia’. The movie 300 will bring a new dimension to the industry, that’s for sure, so watch it and be a part of that history. Here are some screen shots.
Captured by men 6 inches tall
2007-07-13 21:15:00
These days we don't have much work, to be honest any work at all, students were sent to hotels to do their attachments and we have like one month until they come. Don't think its fun, for me it’s more tiresome than a normal working day, just sitting on your ass for 8 hours a day, not that easy pal. I have started reading a book to kill time, its unabridged version of Gulliver's Travels, I read it when i was very young and hoped this time it would be boring. I was wrong, I was absorbed in to the fantasy world created by Jonathan Swift(1667-1745), I traveled the sea to end up shipwrecked in the city of Lilliputs ,who are only about six inches high, They first captured me and treated me like a prisoner. But eventually I was granted freedom (I had to swear an oath holding right foot form my left hand and placing middle finger of my right hand on the crown of my head, and my thumb on the tip of my right ear) .Later I was favored by the king , specially when I captured fleet of shi...

There is a Treasure,Billion Dollars,Here is the Map,Find it if you can...
2007-07-11 18:43:00
There is a treasure in Seychelles, yes a treasure yet to be found. It belongs to a famous pirate Olivier Levasseur ,well known here as La Buse or La Bouche (The Buzzard). He was soaring in the Indian ocean from about 1720 to 1730, looking for ships ,to acquire their wealth. His biggest catch was the Portuguese treasure ship La Vierge du Cap. He hid it in an island in the India Ocean, treasure estimated to worth more than one billion dollars. He was a classic pirate, wore an eye patch to cover his mutilated eye. He was finally captured and hanged at the island Bourbon (today Réunion). When he was about to be hanged he threw a document at the crowd saying ‘Find my treasure, he who may understand it!’ It was a cryptogram, a wisely crafted document which was difficult to decrypt. Several copies of the document were made. Since then treasure hunter were tirelessly searching for the treasure through out the Indian Ocean. Finally the treasure was traced back to islands of Seychelles...
