It feels like I went to see Spankrock a month ago but it was actually Tuesday night. To be honest I don't remember much from the show; I was a little drunk and very distracted, or enthralled, those are interchangeable right now. What I did catch were some choice lines from songs such as:(White, black, latin girls) Shake it til you make my dick racistPut your panties onPut your pussy awayAss-shaking competition champooh that pussy gets damppump that– pump that– pump that ampI'm getting my mom the album for Christmas. The opening act was a JJ Fad-ish cutie pie called Roxy Oxy Cottontail. I love to see the ladies get raw. Her myspace is here: http://www.myspace.com/oxycottontail By the end of the show the stage was crammed with girls shaking their asses and boys trying to get their grind on. Just like any other drunken party.Check out their myspace here: www.myspace.com/spankrockOh yeah, some guy named Ghostface was thereJust one more pic. The D

The last couple of days have been unrelenting in trying to emotionally kick my ass. What I need now is an interlude to catch my breath.I saw this on an old friend's blog. We're not so close anymore but he introduced me to this song and we used to listen to it constantly while planning our Summer Of Love soundtrack.http://meerkatproductsltd.type pad.com/

Let's talk about first dates. I'm not an expert at all so I'm wondering; are you supposed to feel nervous to the point of nausea? That would sum up how I felt at about 6 o'clock on Saturday. But before I say anything about my date let's go back in time to some of my more choice first date experiences:There was the guy who left after the first hour and dropped me the gem of advice that no man would ever love me if I was going to be close to my gay best friend.I had a first date that the highlight was watching him play my playstation.I had a first date that turned into a weekend in Reno which would have been good if not for the fact that I used my semi ex-boyfriends car to get there and left the hotel receipt in the glove box. He was so pissed. It took years to live that down. How about the time I thought it would be a good idea to take ecstasy and eat fried rice with pork? It was really sexy. The coup de grace, I drove up to my date's house, ended up getting arrested, and he had...

snark·y (snär'kē) adj. snark·i·er, snark·i·est Slang Rudely sarcastic or disrespectful; snide.Irritable or short-tempered; irascible.Have you seen snarky? It's everywhere!! Everybody's doing it, from all the blogs to pasty faced white boys on MTV. If you don't know it you might recognize it as the overly sarcastic, slightly funny, slightly clever, slightly perceptive, right on the nose comments that people are slinging around these days the way "like" was popular in my youth, yes I'm old! Snark even has its own television shows such as "Best Week Ever" and "Celebrity Eye Candy". Snark is even powerful enough to make Perez Hilton a celebrity!!I like snarky, I remember when being snarky was strictly for the gays, the good old days. When I see Nick Zano being snarky on a dumb reality show for MTV I know that it's days are numbered.I should mention all of this came to me last night at one in the morning while I was in the hell of insomnia. Which reminds me that the r...

Something to add to the long list of things I didn't know

How is it that I didn't know that out of all the democratic candidates running for office only two are in support of gay marriage? Not surprising when you consider the democratic parties official stance:We support full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and seek equal responsibilities, benefits, and protections for these families. In our country, marriage has been defined at the state level for 200 years, and we believe it should continue to be defined there. We repudiate President Bush's divisive effort to politicize the Constitution by pursuing a "Federal Marriage Amendment." Our goal is to bring Americans together, not drive them apart. Source: The Democratic Platform for America, p.36 Jul 10, 2004Here's how the candidates breakdown:US Senator Joe Biden (D-Delaware) - supports civil unions but is against gay marriage.US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-New York) - opposes same-sex marriage but supports civil unions, and is also fond of ducking the...

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others

I was a strange little girl. I never dreamed about walking down the aisle, or what I might name my future children. In fact, I'm quite certain that when I was a little girl what I wanted was a hysterectomy. I don't think I knew what that meant but I knew that having kids just wasn't for me. Throughout the years when people have asked me if I wanted children, I've always said no. Their responses have always been the same, basically that I would eventually change my mind when I got older. Condescending? Yes. Frustrating? Yes. Understandable? Yes. A great friend of mine, who wishes to stay anonymous, wrote an article about Davey D’s article and Breakdown FM segment “Women Hold Up More Than Half the Sky within Hip Hop,”, it got picked up by the hip-hop congress website and now its created a stir. Here is an excerpt:"Most of the panel discussion from the 206 Zulu anniversary seems to privilege women as nurturers over all else. I have a great deal of respect for mothers in our co...

I got an interesting comment on one of my posts:Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "What's it gonna be?":Your "mother" issues is affecting your relationships with women, be it sexual or not.Wow!! I was really taken aback when I first read it. It seemed unbelievably personal and harsh to put in a semi-public forum. Being that the public for this blog is 60% friends that I have invited to view it, I immediately felt hurt that one of my friends would write something like that without considering my feelings first. That's when it slowly dawned on me that it wasn't one of my friends. I mean, to know me is to know that I'm not only aware of my mother issues, I talk about them at length (and with great humor, right?). And really, why would I be insulted by someone saying that I have mother issues? Everybody has mother issues. They might be completely unavoidable!! I hope my mom, who reads this blog, leaves a comment on this post about her mother issues!!That leads to the ...

I wanted to repost this message that Michelle Rodriguez posted on her blog. I think it's an interesting alternative to "no comment"."May 2, 2007Hey guys, Long time no talk. Sorry about that I've bin running around once again like a chicken without a head getting this clothing line on track. I'm also working up a new hobby that will come in handy really soon when I move back home to the land of 'The Real', New York. I've bin downloading music and working with my DJ boys to see if I have what it takes to get the party jumping.I thought it would be a good Idea to completely disconnect myself from the hollywood world while I work on the clothing line, develop my own kid film project, and Learn to DJ. I think most adults are tainted, especially in Hollywood, so to refrain from ripping my clothes off on screen, playing the typical sex feen, or girlfriend role, I prefer to write the kid project I've had in my head since I was 15. It's time to write, it's what I got into the busine...

There are so many interesting things in the world to comment on right now. Imus and Rosanne have both made me think about what our positions in society really mean when it comes to race, gender, and sexual orientation. But I can't think or write about that right now when all I want to do is continue on with my L Word marathon that started two days ago with season one disc one. And I just can't stop.True to my geeky nature now that I'm seeing a woman I'm doing my research. And that's genuinely how it started, but now I'm obsessed. I'm 14 hours in and I can't stop. Even though I am in LA to visit friends and enjoy the city I don't want to leave the house until I've had my fill and I don't see that happening anytime soon. If anyone hears this cry for help please, please help me.

I've been wanting to post all day but all I could think about was whether or not I should quit my job. It's tedious, monotonous, and I'm convinced it's making me dumber. I've been saying that I am going to hold on until April 16th (it's when I'll have been there 6 months). Most of the time that feels like its too far away and some times I remember something my friend Peter said, "We don't quit jobs that are paying us". Therein lies the dilemma: even though I am miserable everyday and often into the evenings, should I quit a job that's paying me?? I don't have the answers or even the proper words to describe how I'm feeling about this so I thought I would describe it in a picture essay:And yes, I know I have a flair for the dramatic.

In the midst of my stupefying boredom yesterday, a little angel dropped the latest issue of Allure magazine in my hands. And thank God they did; I didn't realize how much stuff I needed to buy.Gap - the boyfriend trouser. They look comfortable and I don't own a pair of khakis yetClinique - continuous rescue antioxidant moisturizer. It says that eating antioxidants might not be enough to save my skin. I knew I'd been hearing SOS calls from somewhereDr. Brandt Lineless - it targets skin's newest nemesis, sugar!Clarins Expertise 3P Screen mist. It protects my skin from electromagnetic waves given off by wireless devices!Brian Atwood suede and gold sandals. I had totally forgotten that I don't have a pair of light colored platform shoes for the summer. Duh!!Nivea Smooth Sensation - I'm running out of lotion and this one seems to guarantee I'll get laid to boot.Laser hair removal - hair is gross!Ohmibod - an ipod powered vibrator that moves to the rhythm of the music. I think my p...

"I left the world of faith, of genital cutting and forced marriage for the world of reason and sexual emancipation. After making this voyage I know that one of these two worlds is simply better than the other. Not for its gaudy gadgetry, but for its fundamental values."Why do I like Ayaan Hirsi Ali?Well, she probably does more in her sleep then I do all day at work. But that might have something to do with untrained guppies being able to do my job. I'll list some of the things that have me fascinated:Former devout Muslim turned atheist and and critic of IslamSomalian born, Kenyan raised, eventually ending up in the Netherlands as a politician in their lower houseMade the film "Submission" with Theo van Gogh. The documentary is about the treatment of Muslim women. He was later murdered by a Muslim and a knife with a death threat to Ayaan Hirsi Ali was stuck in his chest. Her father was against female genital mutilation but her grandmother had the procedure done to her at five while h...

I think I'll probably start a bunch of posts like this: My friends kick ass!!! Mesha, Daria and I went to San Francisco. By choice!! As usual, San Francisco was a huge snore. I could go on and on about why San Francisco is so TYrone RODney (that's right, it's beyond tired, it's tirod), so let's begin. The weather sucks! There are no seasons, just days that look beautiful from inside the window then kick your ass when you're outside of it.The evolution wasn't televised in San Francisco and it shows. While San Francisco evolves in terms of rents and gentrification in every other area (culture, events, arts, etc) it feels like the Midwest. People are very content to put their innovative rebellion aside because they finally found a city where they're accepted for the individuals that they are.Piercings, multi-colored hair, vintage clothes, ridiculous glasses, and being white with a degree in black studies does not make you an individual. Get a personality and pass the word. The m...

New favorite quote:"For the better part of 20 years as a solo artist, the King of Pain has been locked in a Mexican standoff with the rest of humanity. We refuse to believe that he is deep; he refuses to believe he is shallow." - Stephen MetcalfI love that this could be about anyone in Hollywood, whether they're walking the streets or on our TV screens. Every time I go back to LA I'm amazed at how much time people spend talking about themselves. Not just in the stereotypically shallow ways of self-aggrandizing and plotting takeovers/revenge on "the industry," but deep inner journeys about every bit of minutia in their lives. From their cathartic journeys in that day's acting class to what exactly it meant when the cute coffee gave them extra foam, Angelenos can rape every possible word out of every bit of experience. And I was one of them! I loved sitting at the Coffee Bean for hours dissecting what it meant that when I woke up at noon for the last two days I felt extra tired. Wa...

Ok, the first cut is the deepest. Here it goes. This is my first post on a blog that no one even knows about yet. I am sparing my friends having to read this until I prepare them for the bad grammar, untied thoughts, and general disorganization of my writing style. My thanks to Salome for inspiration. Let's see how it goes! This photo was taken in Spain in 2005 but I thought it was a pretty accurate description of how mischievous I feel right now!
