docklands toejam photomeet
2008-06-10 11:13:00
Whats the point of the of a photoblog meetup if we don’t blog about it. It seems that those who attended the Toejam Photocamp have been pretty busy lately and photographs and blogging has been slow. An official name has been chosen, after the first major meetup in May at the Toejam carboot sale. We have a Flickr group for photos and discussion of future meetups. Also at the beginning of the month Donncha setup IrishPhotographers.org, a single feed for all Ireland-based photo bloggers, meetups, competitions and so forth. Until I think about what to blog about next here are a few photos from the aforementioned Toejam Photocamp: panpipes the Jeanie Johnston After pints and most people leaving, Darren, Julie, Peter and myself went to find Windmill Lane, location of U2’s recording studio. we got a little lost, so Darren and Julie tried referencing the map, which didn’t have windmill lane on it anyway. we found it in the end We’ll have to start organising th...
radiohead, malahide castle
2008-06-09 13:28:00
Niceness isn’t found very often, as we all know but just last week I was offered, and subsequently given a ticket to the Radiohead concert at Malahide Castle , Dublin, by a friend who wasn’t able to go. That’s what I call niceness :) The concert was great, definitely better than I expected. Unfortunately the security guy ...

Sun, sand, sea… and mountains! Of course I would love to get away to a country far far away for a few weeks over the Summer. To enjoy a a different culture, the sights, the photos opportunities, cheaper goods and so on. This year, unlike the last I will not be jetting off to the US ...

dublin to cork - my 2 cents
2008-05-21 12:42:00
Something was mentioned on Twitter (once again) about a photomeet in the city I have been dying to visit for quite a while; Cork . Donncha suggested a photowalk in Doneraile Park in June, he’s available on 7th, 14th and 28th. But then he says this park is quite a distance from the Cork (city). I still ...

2008-05-20 00:58:00
That feeling I normally get before the blog awards of “oh my, I haven’t read enough blogs lately, or left enough comments. I will be asking everyone how they have been only for them to say ‘not been reading my blog? It’s all there.’ And I will have to say no. on the bus to dublin Thanks ...

Tomorrow is the Dublin Photomeet that has been hyped around the Irish blogosphere over the last few weeks. This will be the second photomeet I’ve attended in the last 2 weeks, and another planned in Belfast next week, then another in June… “Flickr photomeets are the new camera clubs” - Davymac 2007 Last weekend’s photomeet in the ...

twitter for music promotion
2008-05-08 15:06:00
For those unaware, Twitter is the latest social networking phenomenon. The main difference between it and any other social tool is that it’s based around what you say, in 140 characters, rather than how pretty your profile, your vast array of cool bands you like or all those super arty movies you like plus a ...

2008-05-07 09:25:00
As I approached the Ormeau Bridge this morning a very eggy smell made its way up my nostrils. Looking down, the bands of the were as low as I remember ever seeing them; muddy, dark and devoid of life, with a traffic cone or two and I’m sure a shopping trolley somewhere could be ...

kitty and the can openers! ep relaunch gig
2008-05-01 19:11:00
Tonight Kitty and the Can Openers subtly relaunch their self-titled EP at the Empire Music Hall, Belfast. Recorded in Dec 07/Jan 08, the finely produced CD contains five superb tracks, which often find themselves slipped into the the set list whenever they grace the stage. When the EP was first printed the band were unhappy with the ...

2008-03-16 16:30:00
This week went quite quickly, coming to an end that was well worth the wait. After work on Friday I purchased a 15-inch Macbook Pro from the Apple Store. This I am very excited about. It will be an interesting transition period from XP to Mac though hopefully it will go smoothly. I have lots of questions, ...

2008-03-10 22:07:00
When I first heard of Twitter I thought it was so totally ridiculous. Sending and receiving txt messages is not new. It’s distinctly old technology. So I signed up. After receiving some useless messages from some people I had added - the sort of messages that said, “Just got the kids to bed, now gonna have ...

Disappointingly, but also as expected, I wasn’t able to make it to the opening at 10am Thursday morning, though ...

2008-03-06 00:37:00
I’m feelin’ a little weird doing this. It was hilariously funny. They sussed it out and sent a nice little apology. Why am I doing this. Well just to follow up on the story. Maybe I should have just left it at that. But what the heck. from    Clint Word <cword@godtube.com> to date     Wed, Mar 5, 2008 at 10:36 ...

irish blog awards 2008 - part 1
2008-03-03 14:36:00
We awoke early on saturday morning, in true tourist style. I took my first photograph of the day by 9.20am, of Andy eating his very tasty croissant in a small café down by the quay. After breakfast we began taking photos for real. Heading to Temple Bar, Grafton Street and St. Stephen’s Green. Walking really is ...

2008-03-01 03:35:00
It’s 2am and I’m on Andy’s lovely laptop in the hostel. Having spent almost 4hrs on the bus from Belfast we were pretty tired and in desperate need of restroom facilities, so grateful of the fact that we had to get a separate bus from the airport to the city centre. Once we arrived we headed ...

I first listened to Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska album a few weeks ago. I tried hard to like it, but I just couldn’t. Each track has a story, more often than not quite a sad story, but the style of the album isn’t for me. However, that doesn’t really matter. What is important is that each of ...
