FYS Victor Perera!
2008-05-29 06:01:00
Idiotic, foolish, pathetic, useless! What else would you have to say about the newest traffic (jam) plan in town? Even the cops didn’t know the proper routes. On some roads, only about 25 meters are made one way. To by-pass those 25 meters, you’ll have to drive additional one kilo meter! I asked one cop by the road “how to get to Jinaratana Mawatha?” and he pointed his hand and said “there”. WTF

Shadow Conspiracy
2008-04-21 14:00:00
May be I’m bit late to comment on the latest development in Sri Lankan politics scene; “Battle of the Wansas”. But, I anyway thought of punching in few of my thoughts about the incidents. It was exactly an year ago that Mangala Samaraweera “UN EXPECTEDLY” kicked out of the SLFP, without any warning. It took Sri Lankan politics by stun. “What? SLFP without Mangy?” was the exclamation in many

Who will fight to rescue "Prabhakaran"?
2008-03-27 10:45:00
These are two news reports grabbed my attention today. I will not make any comments, but simply post then here with the sources (As I do not have much time to punch in my thoughts). But I will put forward only one question to those devoted "human rights" and "free media" activists of this country. (Whom I suppose would not have any answers). Now what you have to say? You talk much about "

"Amnesty worried about media situation in Sri Lanka" But They are Not Worri
2008-02-07 08:25:00
We heard this news yesterday, and as usual Free Media Mudalali's (FMM) jump up in the air, repeating the same Mantra. But curiously enough, AI seems not to be much "worried" about the recent terrorist attacks in Colombo, in particularly the one which killed 7 school children of the same school. When performed a search for keyword "Sri Lanka " on AI official website, these are the results

A Local NGO Supplying Bulletproof Waistcoats to the Terrorists
2008-01-31 17:01:00
Are you still wondering why certain NGO pundits think that this government is the worst ever government we ever had? Well, no doubt, they are deeply shocked by the losses to the LTTE, under this government. That is why they are now taking sub contracts of supplying even military equipments to the LTTE. Or, are they trying to bring “peace” to our country by supplying bullet proof waist coats to

Stumbling through some of the Sri Lankan blogs featured on Kottu, landed me on this post by David Blacker about the Galle Literary Festival. I wasn’t much interested about GLF, or this post in particular, but there was one funny thing caught my attention. And that “funny thing” is nothing in relation with the GLF, and this post is no way going to be another “critical review” of the festival. In

Sirasa News First Does it Again. Attack on X-Ray Base, is not News for them
2008-01-23 18:59:00
After a tough day’s work, I came back home and settle in front of my TV, to watch the news at ten, to see what the local electronic media have to say about the days most talked about news; SLAF attacks on X-ray base. I already knew, most of the story from Defencenet, and Dailymirror, but I just wanted to re-assure the news on TV. (Just like in the old days, where we read the morning newspaper to

2008-01-23 18:58:00
Six new political parties were registered today, at the elections secretariat, and one of the parties is said to be “Okkoma Wesiyo Okkoma Rajawaru Sanwidanaya” (All are Citizens All are Kings Organization). When I first heard that, it reminded me an old Sinhalese action movie “Okkoma Rajawaru”. If I’m not mistaken, the abbreviation of this party is going to be OWORO. Or is it, OVORO. Maybe OWORS

2008-01-23 03:54:00
This is a major headline in some of the daily newspapers out today. Few weeks ago when I posted a similar story on this site, some people asked me to give links to official news websites, to confirm the story. And, I've responded to them in a later comment. I guess now, they have a reliable source to cross check the validity of my post dated 13th January 2008. It's the head of the state who

Sunday night, I was watching TV with one of my old friends from school days, and we were talking about the present situation in the country. During our discussion, I told him about the things being discussed on these issues on some of the blogs featured on Kottu. And my friend (a 32 years old guy, who works as an Economics teacher in a reputed National School in Wayamba province ) naturally asked

Government Launched the Product. JVP will do the Marketing
2008-01-03 16:25:00
Politics is all about marketing. In marketing, you always have to maintain the Top of the Mind Awareness among your customers. If you loose the attention of your customers, even for a day, your competitor will quickly grab the attention away from you. This is what exactly happenned with our government. 2007 came to a dramatic end, with Mervin Silva showing off his stupidity once again. It was

Voice in Colombo's two cents!

I was away from the Sri Lankan blogosphere for a "long long time", and had my mind made up for "not returning". But, the recent incidents taking place in the country, triggered me to read what the others say on Kottu, and started reading and commenting on few blogs. This morning, I started to write a comment for one of Sittingnut's posts, and suddenly realized the "comment" is becoming too

Ever since I started this blog, Sirasa tv used to be a heavilycriticized organizations in my blog posts. My criticism was mainlyaimed at their indirect bias towards the LTTE, in many occasions. Butthese days i'm enjoying watching Sirasa TV a lot. NOT because of theT20 world cup. And its not because of the Sirasa Superstar either. Itsabout something more entertaining. It's the big battle between

You may remember their earlierdecision of omitting the word 'Mr' from their news stories, as aprotest against the GOSL's request to stop using that title for LTTEleaders. This time they are reporting the death tolls in north eastern war, asa summation of LTTE deaths and security forces deaths.
