2007-08-11 11:09:00 HTC TyTN is a Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone with 3G and 3.5G support, WiFi and a pull-out QWERTY keyboard.I waited for the iPhone to come out, and was very disappointed with the technical specs. Sure, it looks pretty. But who wants a pretty brick? I'd rather wait for the 3rd generation to come out. Meanwhile, this is my new toy!! Thanks Mom, and thanks Dad, for gifting me this :)

She was out to shop. She was almost through her budget. She saw a Swarovsky pendant. Fell in love with it. Called me. Announced that she has found a gift which I can give her.What is the perfect gift anyway? (What CAN you do with a right leg? :P )I still remember, how it happened, it was such a bummer! (well, figuratively speaking.)There is a place in Hyderabad called Paradise. Its named after a hotel on that road by the same name. Evidently it grew from its "tapri" origins and now it owns the entire road and the locality is named after it, talk about being successful. They make some of the most awesome biriyani I have ever eaten. Sandy had a couple of hours for his connecting flight, so I decided to play host and show him this place. It didn't hurt that it was en route to my uncle's place.Little did I know how much it would cost me. Thats when IT happened. Never jump out of a bus, even when its stopped. 2007-06-13 17:07:00 (Gautam, Isha, Gunjan - see, I'm blogging stuff again... :) )Sandy, Gunjan and myself had left Nagpur and had taken the Air Deccan to Hyderabad. (My ticket cost me 5 bucks, and I was so proud of snagging that ticket.. lol)Air Deccan is a good plane to go in, for short haul flights, if you are alone. They don't give boarding passes, and people here lose their dignified nature and do all sorts of crazy stunts to get the seats they want. As if the plane will fly away without them, after they have checked in.Anyway, this flight was no different. We had a crowd of fairly RUSTIC marathi people. They actually throw handkerchiefs (ST Bus style) to signify that the particular seat is "reserved"!! :pThey were boisterous, to put it mildly. They insisted that they want to stand during take off, refused to put on their seat belts, and generally proceeded to justify why people laugh at them. Friends and family have entered new phases of life by either getting married or engaged, or changing jobs.First up - Puneet's marriage to longtime sweetheart - Bhavna! Namit, Gary, Happy, Parag, Sandy and yours truly spent a lot of time emailing each other and "replying all" and deciding on gifts."Champagne!!" says Gary."Absolutely no alcohol!" says Gunjan."Uh.. 2007-05-06 12:09:00 You just HAVE to reach Chennai on time for office.Due to major screw ups by Kingfisher and the Makemytrip zombies, you are not notified that your flight has been canceled, and thus you are left standing without an umbrella after the poop has hit the fan.Flight s taking off right now are full. Two options... Jet at 0615, or Kingfisher at 0900.You are majorly tired, after nonstop traveling and freaking out and partying over the weekend. Don't really care what flight to take, just want to sleep. You proceed to do just that. Airport trolleys make wonderful leg rests.Three hours later, you wake up with a start. Its 0500! 4 hours more to go for the Kingfisher flight... This is gonna get boring, frustrating, and no way will you be able to reach office before lunch.You get a crazy idea.Jet airways. 2007-04-30 12:15:00 My parents are in Kuwait, and it has been ages since I have seen them. Yes, I have been out of home essentially after my 12th standard.. Off to Chennai with Girish and Amit for IIT entrance preparations.. Engineering at WIT, Solapur.... MBA at SIIB, Pune... Back in Chennai to work... I used to go back home only intermittently. My neighbours don't know who I am! :P My bro is like me, away from home since his 12th standard. Dad was in one city, mom was at home and then joined Dad after he got transffered to Kuwait. All this staying away makes my parents miss their two kids... Mom wrote a really heartwarming poem, which has touched me a lot. I am posting this here, hope you like it. Assuming you are not THAT thick skinned, you are expected to ensure that such a thing does not happen to you again, right? So, you will usually go to the airport early, let's say, three hours early, for a DOMESTIC Fllight. Maybe wait for an hour till the boarding pass booth opens, and stride over to the cute gal sitting at the King fisher counter.God really played the cut late, this time. Budding Cricket batsmen will appreciate this. Play the ball as late as possible, leaving the wicketkeeper grasping at air.I was the wicketkeeper, so to speak.Picture this scene. I walk up to the booth. Keep my heavy bag (whew) for check in and give my ticket to the Kingfisher gal. The problem which this demonstrates does not have a direct solution posted anywhere else, and believe me, I have looked.I was making a timeline on an Excel sheet, which has the standard start date, number of days required to finish the task and thus the estimated end date. There is nothing in the standard excel formula list which will take care of your requirement, which is to calculate the Ending date based on the Start date and number of days required to finish the job, and also skip the weekends which come in between.Here is what I did.Here is what I had. Let us assume that the Columns are on "D", "E", and "F".The date cells are formatted as Dates.What were the complications? Weekends might come in the period of the timeline. i.e., if the work extends to the second week, if you simply add the number of days required to finish the job, you will lose two days in Saturday and Sunday.Solution?
