Well now I know and you can too! Check out Magmypic.com. I took thw liberty of removing many of the spammy links that came with the generated code and just post the cover shots -_-

Japan related news snippets

My last Japan related news snippets post in October 2007 was caused by a full stomach and being unproductive. I am Legend - Behold the Star power of Will Smith
2008-01-15 21:47:00
Let me start by saying that without Will Smith in the staring role of I am Legend the movie would have deteriorated into a distasteful, second rate, watch and forget, science fiction flick. About the Film I am Legend stars Will Smith as Robert Neville a military virologist who might be the only human left on earth after a supposed cure for cancer turns out to a be a plague killing off most of the human and some animal occupants of earth and turning the remainder into violent, hyperactive, de-evolved mutants who fear sunlight. Robert’s only companion is a German-Shepherd dog named Sam, a final gift to him by his daughter and wife who had to be evacuated from New York just before the city was quarantined. Robert, who is immune to the virus affecting everyone else remains in New York to try and find a cure for the outbreak, search for survivors and pee his pants while the “Dark Seekers” reek havoc throughout the city at night. I liked the film but judging from reviews I have read i...

56 Geeks project reveals the geek in all of us
2008-01-14 17:27:00
This project agrees with my notion that everyone has a little geek in them. Some shutter at the thought, but I believe it's true. In my mind "Geek iness" has evolved from the old definition of "a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual". I am sure everyone can find and relate at least one "geek" on this list. Source - the 56 Geeks Project Geek @ Dictionary.com Geek @ Wikipedia

About Jamaipanese
2008-01-14 05:01:00
I’ve been blogging here for almost two years and I have never really got around to creating a proper “about me” page, so here goes ^_^I’ll be updating this page from time to time to time so check back every now and again. I am Jamaipanese, a young Jamaican male who has a great interest in Japan and its people for various reasons. I am what many people would call a techie and so I have a growing love affair with technology especially gadgets. I am also a big time car enthusiast who hopes to be able to start a collection of his various favourite models someday, that would we way cooler than my collection of movie tickets stretching back many years. I spend a lot of time watching anime, taking pictures and playing video games, too little time I think, I mean come on, who needs sleep anyway? One day I woke up realizing that most of my interests (anime, science, video games, cars, Godzilla ^_^, technology etc), originate from or are heavily influenced by a then mostly unknown (to me) p...

Sanyo Solar Ark – Solar Energy Generation Facility
2008-01-11 19:25:00
Sanyo is a well-known Japanese electronics company and a brand instantly recognizable worldwide. Sanyo’s Solar Ark is an ark shaped solar photovoltaic power generation facility located in the Gifu Prefecture of Japan. In my eyes the solar ark building is an architectural, engineering and scientific masterpiece. I just noted it as one of the places in Japan I would like to visit in a future trip to Japan as I want to see the solar lab and visit the solar museum housed within the facility. It’s free to enter the facility once it’s open and it’s boat-like features and name are obvious references to the biblical ark that Noah built to escape the floods. Infinite Solar Energy Unlike fossil fuels, bio fuels and other energy sources, the sun and it’s infinite solar energy isn’t going anywhere and the day the sun goes out is the day we are pretty much doomed as well. For more information and pictures visit the Solar Ark’s official website.

I shall tame the beast called the Japanese Language
2008-01-10 13:25:00
Yes I think of the Japanese language as a huge beast, but not an impossible task. It's not like I think I am incapable of properly grasping and using the language properly, it's just that process...a very long one and I have been incapable of sticking to that process and seeing it all the way through, I keep stopping it for various reasons and then having to start most of it over again. I have found inspiration from a...., of all things, a comedic video about the "secret to learning Japanese" which pokes fun at persons who are primarily using anime to study Japanese. I don't use anime as my primary studying resource, I have tonnes of books, ebooks, dictionaries and notes but I think anime is a great supplementary source to hear Japanese being spoken...albeit sometimes unnatural, filled will slangs and overly dramatic. The video's underlying lesson is clear to me and renewed by drive to study because i now know the "secret"...perseverance! My last update in the class logs and ...

A guest post by a true J-pop Fanatic
2008-01-07 23:29:00
This is the first guest post on my blog. It was written by Justin from educatedwhore.com, a very cool guy and one of my newest blogging pals. Don't let the name of his blog fool you as his site is well done and offers interesting posts on topic ranging from poetry to learning German to his general life experiences as a teenage growing up in California. Check out Justin's blog, why it is named "Educated Whore" and read much more about him. Kicking off the New Year right! I waited eagerly for the New Year to come for many reasons. I would be able to make new resolutions (that would be left unfulfilled) and I would get to see Ayumi Hamasaki's (浜崎あゆみ ) 9th studio album GUILTY. Ask any heavy j-pop fan and they probably would have said the same thing. GUILTY has been one of the most anticipated albums since it was announced. I didn't always like Ayumi Hamasaki. I always thought the she was at the top of the totem pole because she is drop-dead gorg...

Bioshock - Video game Review
2008-01-06 20:53:00
Many argue otherwise but to me Bioshock is the best video game to be released in 2007 in terms of a single player experience. 2007 was a wonderful game for gaming, probably the best year ever, I found myself bombarded with new release after new release especially in the second half of the year, but very few even came close to fun I had (and still have) playing Bioshock. About the Game Bioshock is set in the 1960’s in an underwater city secretly built in the middle of Atlantic ocean. The city was build by a rich tycoon named Andrew Ryan who had grand ideas of a land free of political and religious oppression, a land which he also nicknamed “Eden”. Stem cell research from a new species of sea slug resulted in the creation of “Adam” powered by a special but hard to manufacture serum called “Eve” which was used to create “plasmid” which offered various upgrades to any regular human which included everything from eye colour changes, to my personal favourite…shoot fire from your hands...

Tokyo World's forth most Important city, Number 1 in Asia
2008-01-05 18:10:00
Tokyo is the capital of Japan and according to a recent survey by the Independent Newspaper it is the most important city in all of Asia and 4th most important in the world. Cities were ranked based on various criteria, including population, economy and influence. I'm not surprised by Tokyo's high ranking, after all it's the largest metropolitan area in the world, hosts various internal events regularly, at the cutting edge of technology not to mention a cultural behemoth. Tokyo City Official Site London, New York and Paris were ranked 1st to 3rd respectively. Read News article and souce I wonder if Kingston could ever make a list like this in my lifetime?...I have to be honest...it's highly unlikely.

Loving my 2008 Pekochan Calendar gift
2008-01-04 17:42:00
My blogging pal from Jdonuts sent me a 2008 Pekochan calendar 2 weeks ago all the way from Japan and I am happy to say it finally arrived. It arrived just before my blog outage issues so I was unable to post about it till now. I love it and I have already added it to my little collection of Japan related gifts which include chopsticks, a headband and a Momotaru book from Tomoko sensei. I have to be defending it from various assaults from my younger sister though as she keeps trying to snatch the stickers that came with it. Thank you Contamination for such a great gift, now I feel compelled to send you something, but I don’t know what, any do you anything of particular interest from Jamaica? He also made a hilarious “public service announcement” as the possible reasons I was MIA recently. All 5 of them are hilarious, with my favourite a tie between 1 and 2: 1. A team of crack otaku ninjas abducted him and dragged him away to a secret laboratory in Akihabara. 2. The domain has bee...

Blog outage and Frustration with my Domain Registrar
2008-01-04 11:03:00
After a little under 36 hours , my blog and all my other websites are now back online. For some strange, unproven reason my domain registrar (godaddy) disabled all my domains for suspected FRAUD! I have rarely been more angry and frustrated in my entire life, how can they just lock my account and disable websites for an unproven reason without even investigating or warning the customer? Now I realize that my problems with them are not over as they refunded my payments at the start of this issue but when they recharged and re-enabled my account the re-charged more money than they refunded! Feeling like a second rate customer Hours of buying phone cards and talking to their mainly stupid customer service reps have pissed me off mostly in this issue, because it seemed like because I was an international customer from Jamaica and seemingly because I am black and “unimportant” they treated me like I was some unintelligent ape! I seriously believe that this issue would have been rectifi...

Assassins Creed Review – Playstation 3 version
2007-12-27 17:04:00
Assassins Creed was one of the most highly anticipated games of 2007. I will start by saying that it doesn’t live up to all the hype and to me is not an “exceptional” game but in today’s console gaming world even high budget, heavily promoted games like this will come across as “regular” when put side by side with other great games like Bioshock, Halo 3 and Mass Effect (I recently started playing this ^_^). Story and Experience The game follows the ancestor of Desmond Miles who is kidnapped and brought to an unknown facility. The ancestor of Desmond is named Altair aka “the flying one” and the main game begins in the 12th century during the heights of the Christian crusades in the middle east. Three huge and uniquely designed cities, Jerusalem, Acre and Damascus are where most of the game takes place as Altair goes around assassinating targets while slowly unfolding the story. I don’t want to get too much into detail but by the end of the adventure there are enough twists in the ...

Entrecard – A great blog promotion Tool
2007-12-26 06:30:00
Do you have a blog? If the answer is yes my next question will be, are you using entrecard? If you answer is no then you are missing out on a great opportunity to drive visitors to your blog. Which blog owner doesn’t like their page to be viewed by as much people as possible? Entrecard is a program I signed up for a few days ago that I wish I had signed up for sooner. How Does Entrecard Work You sign up for the program through their website at Entrecard.com, copy and past a small code that displays the entrecard widget (available in three sizes) somewhere on your blog, preferably in the sidebar or somewhere above the fold where it is very visible. Now other entrecard users who view your blog will have the opportunity to “drop off” their card on your page and when you browse other entrecard user’s blogs you will have the opportunity to do the same. This dropping off and receiving cards allows you to earn EC credits which you can then spend to purchase 125x125px places on any blog y...

Many people look forward to Christmas for for the gifts, seeing family and friends, traveling, or many others reasons, but I look forward to Christmas for the FOOD! That may come across as surprising because I am a very skinny fellow, but I look at the positives because unlike everybody elseI don't have to be watching my weight or counting calories - the benefits of of super fast metabolism. Just realizing this is the first image of me on my own blog...so much for a good first impression -_- I have been to two Christmas luncheons so far plus a customer appreciation day at a restaurant that I order lunch most days when I am at work from. The second of the two lunceons today and now I sit with a full stomach and lazy typing this message but still giving thanks for my many blessings. Any Plans for the Christmas Holidays?

Herbert Henry McKenley - A Great Jamaican
2007-12-13 23:15:00
I have been meaning to write this post for almost two weeks now but my internet connection problems, pre-Christmas workload and my coverage of the death at the calarlions.com blog has caused me to delay it. When I started the Calabar Lions blog for my old high school a few weeks ago I never dreamed that I would be blogging about the death of Herb McKenley. more images at detailed news coverage at calabarlions.com Herbert Henry McKenley was a great Jamaican and a hero to me and many other persons who thought highly of a man who has achieved so much during is long life. “Hustling Heb” as he was known by his teammates during is athletics career is still the only athlete to have reached an Olympic track final in all three of the classic sprint events, 100, 200 and 400 meters.
