2007-11-01 00:35:00
Want a cool but useful item for your desk or an excellent gift idea for the upcoming holiday season? The modern, aesthetic and futuristic looking magnetic floating display from Edmund Scientific uses patent pending magnetic technology to allow objects to float in a magnetic field. My favourite and the object that comes as default with the kit is the floating globe. There are numerous floating objects to choose from such as a clock, picture frame and even a space shuttle just to name a few. So check out www.scientificsonline.com for this and other great items, they have various educational toys, science equipment and unique gift ideas.

Japan to fingerprint and photograph all foreigners
2007-10-29 14:19:00
Japan is to fingerprint and photograph foreigners entering the country from next month in an anti-terrorism policy that is stirring anger among foreign residents and human rights activists. "This will greatly contribute to preventing international terrorist activities on our soil," Immigration Bureau official Naoto Nikai said in a briefing on the system, which starts on November 20. Read full story In these modern times and with globalization I must say that I am against the plans by Japan to document all foreign citizens inside and outside the country. I thought the days of the Tokugawa shogunate were gone? With Japan's role as a global leader, it's sad that they have decided to treat all non-Japanese people as suspected terrorists.

Cool Gundam Animation Video
2007-10-27 19:11:00
I just finished watching the 3rd episode of the new Gundam series Gundam 00. I'm high on Gundam right now and found a page a bookmarked many weeks ago from Anime Sugoi. I'll be writing up a Gundam 00 first impressions post in the next couple days, I just hope I don't get in trouble like the Japanese officials who were reprimanded a few weeks ago for doing something similar at work. There are a whole series of videos, so check them all out!

It’s a good time to be a Gamer
2007-10-26 01:30:00
Video games have come a far way over the years. While reminiscing I don’t need to go back too far to be amazed by the tremendous growth and transformation the gaming industry has gone through in the last 10-15 years. Information overload Currently we have a vibrant industry with different genres, platforms and games to choose from it can be overwhelming at times. Not long ago I used to be have to wait for months on end to play a special game and many of the games I was playing were many months sometimes many years old but I was just being introduced to them. Now with advances in gaming and in technology in general I find myself right in the know on any video game I am excited about, getting daily updates for a game like Super Smash Bros Brawl and even following developer diaries of games like Call of Duty 4 and Assassins Creed. Now there is barely any wait, as whenever a game is released if I want to I can be playing it a matter of days, not weeks or months like previous years. ...

What did English borrow from Japanese?
2007-10-25 13:00:00
The English Language has many loan words from many languages, but we don’t care about those other languages except Japanese right? We all (I hope) know about the cool words like “ninja”, “anime”, “karate” and “samurai” just to name a few. But what about the non Japanese enthusiasts among us did they know that words like “Tsunami”, “Soy”, “Tofu”, and “Kamikaze” are all of Japanese origin? A perfect example of a true Samurai Kusunoki Masashige If you ask me all these words look cooler when writing in their native style, but it’s cool to know little facts like these. View even more loan words from the Japanese language over at Dailywritingtips.com.

Codango Labs XSE Shopping Cart application
2007-10-25 05:37:00
Codango Labs just released a new ASP.NET application review of XSE shopping cart. They took XSE for a whirl around the virtual store and found that its extensive features and excellent technical support made it a solid ecommerce app. They did say that its one squeaky wheel is its UI, but nevertheless, it's a shopping cart that's ready to roll. zOMG! I haven't blogged for 3 days!
2007-10-23 20:06:00
Three days ain't that bad... or is it? I spent the weekend idling, watching anime, dreaming and plotting the demise of all the stupid people in the world. I've been dreaming about Christmas and all the "toys" that come along with the season, unfortunately for me I'll have to buy my own gifts so I've been busy dreaming about a new cam, an iPod Touch, a laptop, a new cellphone and a high end gaming PC. Feed free to by me anyone of these ^_^. Link loving and Appreciation Gordon has giving me his award for Blog of the Year! I am honoured and grateful, it's always good to hear positive feedback about my site. Special shout out to Leon who was also mentioned by Gordon as a great blog, although Leon's latest post about Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter is a little...um...disturbing -_-. Taylor recently went on a photo expedition and returned with some great pictures, I look forward to him helping me to sharpen my photo capturing skills once I manage to grab that Sony Cybersho...

Guardian of the Sacred Spirit Review
2007-10-20 22:30:00
Guardian of the Sacred Spirit (Seirei no Moribito) is finally reached it’s end and I thoroughly enjoyed the 26 episode long series that started back in the Spring of this year. Guardian of the Sacred Spirit is a beautifully animated anime in the fantasy, adventure genre that follows the adventure of Prince Chagum and Balsa the Spearwoman as she tries to protect the prince from first his father, then the warriors sent by his father to retrieve him and then from vicious ghostlike egg eater s from another world. The story of Guardian of the Sacred Spirit is refreshing, and the environment in which the story is told is believable and immersive. A small cast of characters are all developed over the course of the anime with special emphasis on the main characters Balsa and Chagum. The anime is not very action packed but the little action there is well executed and heightened by excellent music and sound effects. The later episodes of the series does well to close off the anime ...

FAnime Friday, check it out!
2007-10-20 20:33:00
Nanashi-inc.net is a really cool blog by 23 year old American Joana Rodriguez who is a big time anime fan. She has a nice little weekly feature on her blog called FAnime Friday in which every Friday she blogs about something anime and manga related with the intention of improving the anime viewing and manga reading experience of visitors. FAnime Fridays started way back in June so there are quite a few postings there to read and follow. The latest post about the lengthy delays between episodes of ultra popular series like Naruto Shippuuden and Bleach is an excellently written one and she even wrote about Claymore which is one of my favourite anime a few weeks ago.

Procrastination - Start getting stuff done -_-
2007-10-20 03:00:00
My personal promise to stop procrastinating and to just get stuff done is paying off. I’ve been successful in personal tasks but my day job is the one area I am hopeless in. See why it’s important to like what you do for a living? I’ve been thinking about doing some radical changes in my life lately and starting in the New Year I will make steps to do more than just complain about problems and just start solving them. I am in the process of making a huge “to do list” of problems in my life to solve and goals to achieve in the coming year but first I need to stop putting things off or allow myself to be negatively influenced by persons or uncontrollable events in my life. The negative influences are easy to get rid of but the procrastination is a bull I’ll have to take on by the horns. Like most geeks I turned to Google for a cure and it delivered a great page with tips for overcoming procrastination; I’ve printed it, I’m reading and I shall be victorious! Do you procrastinate t...

One Year Since Garo Died
2007-10-19 04:35:00
Its been one year since Garo died in that awful bike accident. Today was an overcast and gloomy day and me and my coworkers spend most of it reminiscing on his positive memories. All of his friends will be coming together this coming Sunday to play the sport he dominated us all in; football. Garfield was an excellent football player and I feel that is a fitting tribute to his memory and a great idea for an upbeat get-together, plus I don’t mind all the food that will be there after the ball games and all the girls that will be showing up. Garfield "Garo" Gray After football his skill was with the ladies, so I am sure there might be a couple needing a shoulder to cry on or a “wanna-be” Garfield trying to score some goals on the field to cheer for. The last time I played some football it was because my boredom was at an all time high because I had no electricity for the first couple days following Hurricane Dean.

Otaku smashes ATM screen to “meet anime character inside”
2007-10-17 18:38:00
When I first read this I thought this was some sick joke are a misunderstanding but it turns out to be true. A young woman in China reported to be in her 20’s smashed open not one but two ATM screens. An anime character appearing on the ATM screen to help customers transact their business was seen by the Chinese woman and she having the wishful thinking that the anime character was inside the machine smashed it open because she wanted to see the character that was inside the ATM. After smashing the first one and failing she went on to smash another one thinking she’d have better luck! Everyone is wondering which anime character was “inside” the machine and so am I. Assassin’s Creed – A Truly Next Generation Game
2007-10-16 19:56:00
I play a lot of video games but lately the market has been flooded with a lot of over-rated and underwhelming titles. One game that I am looking forward to because it does a lot to stand out from the crowd is Assassin ’s Creed . It will be out in late November for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC and is being developed by Ubisoft. Altaïr is Arabic for "the flyer" or "the bird" I am impressed so far by the videos, trailers and develop diaries being released by the game studio which is excellent in kicking up hype for the title while slowly divulging information about the video game. More than like I will be playing this game on the Xbox 360 later this year and it is one of the many titles I am excited about that is coming out in the next two months. I’ll try to best to review this game or give feedback on it when I eventually play it. Till then check out the latest video about Sidequests and Target AI. More Assassin's Creed Videos

The Most addictive game I’ve played in a long while
2007-10-14 18:42:00
Throughout high school I tried my hand at various clubs and sports, from the cadet forces, to football, to athletics to cricket, but the sport that eventually held me was table tennis and I went on the captain the team for my final year of high school. A few weeks ago I was introduced to Rockstar's Table Tennis on the Xbox 360 and I’ve been hooked since. Who would have thought that a game studio renowned for violent games such as the Grand Theft Auto series could have created such an enjoyable and addictive table tennis game? I really need to start playing table tennis again though…a new year is coming…I need to make that my first resolution.

Japan - $317.25 a week for food
2007-10-13 03:42:00
Saw this post on a popular blog that I am subscribed to and the post asks "Ever wondered how you rank with the rest of the world in the amount of money you spend on food in a week?". I've wondered a lot and with a little consultation with my mom I realized compared to the rest of the world we here in Jamaica spend less on food. How Much it cost to feed the members of my Household? There are two adults (me and my mom) and two children (my 9 year old sister and a recent addition my 2 year old nephew) in my house and on average we spend a little over JA$5000 a week on food that works out to roughly us$75! I even factored in the occasional visiting relative and sleepovers. My Friend and Aspiring Model Latoya
2007-10-11 19:27:00
She is beautiful, she is smart and she held me at nipple point (not that I mind) and asked me to do whatever I need to help promote her career. She is my co-worker and very good friend who passes by my cubicle every now and again to help keep me from dying of boredom. The occasional lunch break with her is always fun although she always cussing me out for not seeing her more often. Due to contractual fine print on her part and with multiple offers from agencies coming in I can’t say yet who she is signed to (yet) but I see her going places in the future so keep your eye out for this beautiful face. A little eye candy every now and again on my site wouldn’t hurt and all, besides I do like robots but I don’t think they are sexy. I think she is though!

Playstation 3 struggling?
2007-10-10 04:05:00
The Playstation 3 launch frenzy has died down and after a long drought without any mega hit games available it seems the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii are pulling away in the next generation console race. It's not like Sony isn't trying to get their fat, black, blu-ray powered, cancer curing super computers out their doors. They have tried numerous promotions like giving away free blu-ray movies, they have tried slashing the price...twice, one pre E3 PS3 price slash and other PS3 price slash is happening now in Japan and Europe, heck they have even bundled games with certain systems. So why isn't the Ps3 selling? More Images in the Playstation 3 section of the Gallery I must admit that the PS3 is attractive (except the price tag) and I can see myself buying one soon especially after having such a good time playing Heavenly Sword and the demo for Folklore at a local gaming arcade, I will not even talk about my uncontrollable drooling whenever I watch new footage of Gran Turismo...

Japanese Officials/Otaku Reprimanded for Editing Wikipedia at Work
2007-10-07 09:08:00
"The Agriculture Ministry is not in charge of Gundam," said Tsutomu Shimomura of Japan's Ministry Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in his statement to the press related to the six bureaucrats reprimanded for entries on Wikipedia the popular Web site encyclopedia from ministry computers. Contributions related to the World Trade Organization and free trade agreements were cool but it was the couple hundred entries related to Gundam and other anime and otaku topics than landed them in hot water. Thanks Grant for beaming me an email with this amusing news item but whats funny about this is if this kind of reprimanding was to happen here in Jamaica I'd probably be on top of the list of offenders. I work for a government Ministry as well here in Jamaica and with all the anime I have downloaded on my office computer I would surely be more than just "reprimanded" for filling 3/4 of the hardrive with "cartoons".
