Thursday Thirteen #12: Award Winning Family Games
2007-11-29 13:31:00
We’re all so busy. Busy working. Busy picking up the house. Busy making dinner. Busy driving to soccer, gymnastics, music lessons, and girl scouts. And this time of year, busy getting ready for the holidays. So much to do, so little time. Sigh. That’s why I cherish game night with my family. There’s no rushing. No nagging. No running out the door and eating in the car. It’s our time to be

Thursday Thirteen #11: What My Daughter is Grateful For
2007-11-22 12:31:00
My second grade daughter came home from school this week with a list of all the things she is grateful for. I'm so grateful she said I could share it with you. Things My Seven-Year-Old Daughter is Grateful For: 1. I give thanks for oxygen because I can breathe. 2. I give thanks for my house so I don't have to live on the streets. 3. I give thanks for God because he died on the cross for us

What Curse Mommy?
2007-10-29 16:40:00
The Red Sox have won the World Series for the second time in four years! The last time was in 2004. Before that, well, there was a little bit more of a gap between World Series wins. 86 years to be exact. Up until 2004, generations of Red Sox fans waited almost nine decades to see what my nine-year-old Red Sox fan has seen twice in her lifetime already! When I share with my daughter that some

Thursday Thirteen #8: Our Song(s)
2007-10-25 15:00:00
Most couples have a song that they refer to as "our song." You know, like when you're driving in the car and it comes on the radio you say "Oh! Honey, it's our song!" Well, my hubby and I don't have just one song, we have 13! 1. Into the Mystic by Van Morrison (our wedding song: the traditional "our song") 2. In My Life by The Beatles (sung by Bette Midler for our wedding party song) 3. Two

Walking Moon: The Scary Story
2007-10-23 15:34:00
This is the first in a three post series about what went wrong at Girl Scout camp this year! I couldn't fit it all in one post! Two of my girls are in Girl Scouts, but only Sweet Angel gets to sleep overnight at the annual Girl Scout Encampment weekend. This is not because Sweet Angel is a Junior Girl Scout, but because Feisty Girl's troop is lame, overly cautious. Frankly, I hate camping, but

Thursday Thirteen #7: Being in My 30's
2007-10-18 16:00:00
Thirteen Things About Being In My 30's: 1. I am more self-confident. 2. I envy my daughters' smooth, clear, wrinkle-free skin. 3. I still remember how old I thought 30 was when I was a kid. 4. I now realize how young it is to be in my 30's. 5. I can remember college like it was yesterday, but realize college kids think I'm old. 6. I don't care as much about what other people think of me.

The Best Thing About Having a Tween
2007-10-16 15:05:00
I always love participating in MamaBlogga's Group Writing Project. This month's theme was "The Best Thing s About This Age." We were free to go in any direction as long as we focused on our children. I have three girls, ages 8 months, 7 and 9, and I can say without hesitation that I've loved all the ages so far. But when my first born started moving out of the baby phase, I was worried. Would I

I'm SO Pissed!
2007-10-09 15:13:00
I'm so pissed! Literally! Last week I saw the neighbor's dog piss on our mailbox. I immediately went outside and said to the teenaged girl walking the dog "Would you PLEASE not let him do that!" (This girl is not our neighbor's daughter and I honestly don't know why she's living there, but I figured if she's letting the dog piss on our property she can take responsibility for it.) The next day

Making Up for Lost Time
2007-10-08 03:47:00
September has come and gone, and with it several days I should've posted, but didn't. Several days I wanted to, but couldn't. More times than not, I said to myself, "I so have to blog about this," but never did. While living the crazy, hilarious, frustrating and frightening moments of the past month, I found myself writing the posts in my head. But that's as far as they went. Then I flipped the

I knew the moment I finished reading Blogger Brown is the New Black that I had to give my September Perfect Post Award to Jenny at Absolutely Bananas. I was up late catching up on my favorite blogs when I started reading this post. By the time I finished, I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to wake up everyone in my house! It took all my will power not to go upstairs and wake my hubby

Thursday Thirteen #3: My Pet Peeves
2007-09-21 01:27:00
1) When people don't wash their hands after using the toilet. 2) When complete strangers (frankly, anyone really!) touches my baby's hands. Those little hands go into her little mouth which then goes on me for her to eat. (This pet peeve made worse by pet peeve #1.) Think about it for a sec and you see why it's gross! 3)When people throw their cigarette butts out of their car window. 4)

Say Goodbye to Super Pooper
2007-09-18 16:07:00
Say Goodbye to Super Pooper . . . Hello Turbo Tot! Yes, the day has come to change my baby's blog name. Although she's only eight months old now, and technically not a toddler, no one has told her that. * So at 6 months she pulled herself up to a standing position. * At 6 1/2 months she started cruising around the furniture. * At 7 months she started walking with a walker toy.

Am I Still Nice?
2007-09-11 21:18:00
I'm embarrassingly late in properly thanking Mom2MomLounge for giving me this: Here I am being recognized for being NICE and my thank you note post should've been mailed written a few weeks ago! Tsk. Tsk. Obviously Momof3Girls and MidwesternMommy weren't aware of my faux pas because they gave me the award too! So without further adieu (wow, those two years of high school French have really

Motherhood is an Emotional Rollercoaster Ride
2007-09-06 18:18:00
Mamablogga has challenged us all to define motherhood in her latest group writing project. I'm looking forward to reading how other mothers tackled this question. To me, motherhood is an emotional rollercoaster ride with all the highs and lows, twists and turns, and nauseating moments you get from the one at your local amusement park. However, unlike your typical two-minute ride, this one

A World of Difference
2007-05-17 20:10:00
Two months ago I didn’t even know what a blog was. I was bidding on freelance writing projects and one of the employers required applicants to set up a blog account. A what account? Is that like PayPal? So I went to blogger.com as the job posting directed. Although I didn’t sail across the ocean in a tall ship, or rocket into the final frontier, I knew I had a discovered a whole new world. Well, new to me at least. Since then, my life has not been the same. I used to go to bed around 10:00 p.m. Now my husband calls from the family room as he hears me clicking on the keyboard after midnight, “Honey, do you know what time it is?” I used to say, “I don’t know anything about computers.” Now I know how to upload photographs, create a link and edit HTML code. I used to say, “I don’t see what the big deal is about the internet.” Now I have to endure the good-natured teasing I frequently get from my husband when I enthusiastically share something from the interne...
