one series done starting anew
2008-02-25 14:57:00 We watched the final episode of Sopranos on Friday night. We actually weren’t expecting it to end as we thought there were 7 seasons. *crazy HBO series manager who makes the final season part 2?* After 3 months of watching the sopranos I’m a little sad to see it go but happy I don’t have to mourn Tony and his gang any more. We’ll watch movies again on Netflix and I’m so happy about that. We did start Dexter over the weekend. Happily it started on CBS last week and we got to preview it before watching it online through netflix. Uber creepy…but I liked Micheal Hall in Six Feet Under and his dry humor is good in this show too..so three episodes in I’ll make it to at least the end of season 1. I have yet to watch a second episode of Nip/Tuck this season, after talking with friends they said it wasn’t that great but I’ll have to catch up on my dvr episodes to see what I missed. The whole season is over so I have a lot to watch. More About: Series

2008-02-24 22:53:00 Woody and I just got back from a lovely afternoon at the toy store and a snack break at Starbucks. I love this age. Woody just turned 3 in December but he is the most agreeable, pleasant little boy. He loves to laugh, explore, learn and enjoys just sitting and watching like his mama. We sat at the bar at starbucks watching the barista’s make coffee and his eyes and ears were so interested in everything. He barely ate his cookie. It brought tears to my eyes to think that this little boy will only be this way for a short time. Someday he’ll be begging to go to starbucks with his friends or he’ll want to sit at the table on the other side of the store away from his mother. *sigh* We’ve had a rough emotional weekend. If your one of my dear pregnant blogging mamas go read this, or this or this. A dear friend lost her baby on Thursday. She was 8.5 months pregnant. She was feeling sick, like she had the flu on Monday and was resting, then on Wednesday she felt worse... More About: Deep

2008-02-21 14:42:00 For the mass email this morning. I’m doing the Celiac Walk/Run on May 4th in Baltimore. Here’s my donation page if I missed you. Another interesting article about JFK and the possibility of him having Celiac. Still feeling a bit under the weather. It always seems to hit about 6pm. *sigh* Randy has been great though, taking on the boys as soon as he gets home. I’ve determined that Whey is the source of my misery. While I’ve been gf/cf for close to four months now some items that are gf (that are naturally cf) will have traces of whey in them. Good god this makes me miserable. I was talking to Randy last night about how will I ever make it a month on the road with nothing to eat but fresh fruit. His response was to buy a watermelon and that’ll be great for the whole day. uh huh while you and the boys eat hamburgers, fries and milk shakes. *sigh* (not that I’m bitter or anything) My GI specialist gave me no new advice. In fact I’m looking at f... More About: Guys
damnit there goes my design for the bathroom
2008-02-19 14:56:00 They had a matching toilet. *who buys this stuff?!* We hit the stores yesterday to start pricing our new kitchen…we are still up in the air about starting the kitchen before our month long travel to Yellowstone in June or after we get back from the trip. We decided on our granite counter tops and we think we found our flooring and our fridge/freezer *the fridge I found is awesome…I think I dreamed about it last night* I have yet to decide if I want a double oven or just a mack daddy stovetop/oven combo. Anyone have a strong preference one way or the other? In my mind I see a double oven but then I’d have to find a stove top I like which I have yet to find that isn’t 2000k. In other boring news…I ate something fierce over the weekend and I feel like my stomach is trying to take over my body. It’s the worst around dinnertime. Not my best time of day as it is. I’ve been eating nothing but rice the last few days but it doesn’t seem to &... More About: Design , Bathroom
Hooray!
2008-02-15 17:14:00 Roots started carrying Santa Julia in their stores! Hip Hip Hooray!! *still no gluten free beers* but one thing at a time is great!! Picked up a dessert wine tonight and it will be my motivation to get through the day today. Randy heads out for a game night tonight, on the heels of dodgeball last night. Oh yeah and we’ll be working our butts off to get MIL’s yard looking good. I did work on it Sunday and Monday and we’ll have Saturday and Sunday to get it all wrapped up. Have I mentioned that my MIL has not offered to help rake, pick up or take down any lawn/leaf clippings? That’s another post for another day.

2008-02-14 14:45:00 Things have been a little hectic over at our house. I hope they will calm down soon so I can finally put my feet up and relax for 1.5 seconds or so. I’ve been training 5-6 days a week. Last night was a huge breakthrough for me. My routine is 2 miles on the ellipitical to warm up, 20 minutes on the bike (about 6 miles) and 30 minutes on the treadmill (about 2.5 miles). Last night I did my normal routine but I kicked butt. I don’t know if it’s because the gym was EMPTY or what…but I was moving and grooving. I did 7 miles on the bike last night in 20 minutes! I did two 8 minute miles on the treadmill! After my 8 minute miles on the treadmill I thought I was going to pass out but still had 12 minutes left on the treadmill….those 12 minutes I did an 11 minute mile…but I just kept thinking…WHY the hell did I sign up for this? What was I thinking? How am I going to swim for 10 solid minutes, bike for 20 minutes and then run for 30 minutes. I ...
such cuteness
2008-02-12 20:48:00 From Yael birthday party two weekends ago. I imagine them speaking on a very adult level speaking of politics, life, the economy…or just how the remote control on a tank works. You know important stuff like that. Cooper enjoying an ice cream cone that big brother does not know exists. He savored the cone and it took him over 25 minutes to eat it…but he enjoyed every second of it. Enjoying a moment with Pawpaw. Woody showing me the dead bug he found….niiiiiiiice. I see you. September 1989
2008-02-06 22:58:00 I just turned 15. I was naive, curious, silly, fun, shy. My obsession with music was budding. Two years before I was immersed in Kick (INXS), 1989 gave me Let love Rule. Let Love Rule led me to ballad rock that made me ponder life, love and authority. Listening to the lyrics made me feel like someone understood me. Someone got me. When your 15, you need something, anything to help you along with your journey through puberty. Fast forward to February 2008. Lenny Kravitz comes out with Love Revolution. OH MY GOD. Flash back to my former self. The childless girl. The single girl. It would be 2 years before Randy and I crossed paths. I was exploring my sexuality. I will never forget the long make out sessions to I will build this garden for us. (”temple of love, walk with the father won’t be a bother to touch the earth as it was”) I remember thinking, this is it. Music, love, life. This is the way it should be. I completely love this man (or boy as it was). What more d... More About: September

2008-02-05 23:00:00 When your finally getting the hang of your SAHM gig you finish your laundry, dishes, serving snacks/dinner, you sit down to actually play with your children and the phone rings. Or the doorbell rings with another offer to cut down that tree in the front yard. (yes we know it looks like crap it’s on the long list) I was just thinking to myself hey this gig isn’t that bad. If you take away the whining and the constant begging for donuts life isn’t that bad. We got up this morning, Cooper is finally getting over his 10 day cold and Woodrow woke up with the congestion/mucus snot. (oh well) We have a pretty good morning playing and enjoying each other. After snack at 3pm.;It happens. I realize yes, this gig does indeed suck. Woodrow puked, not once but twice in two different rooms. I throw him in the shower and he pukes again which makes me puke. Something about water soaked puke makes my stomach just turn. Just when I thought about how great this summer will be&helli... More About: House
sweet beautiful love
2008-01-31 21:27:00 When you become a parent you long for certain moments. When your child will smile, talk, walk, run, jump. When you have your second child you have the same hopes but there is a catch. You want your first child to like, love, get along with you second child. This does not always work out. But, for better or for worse they are stuck together. Evenutally or after 2 years and one month I can finally see some sweetness coming from Woodrow. We were in the car yesterday driving back from PawPaw’s house and Woody says “I miss PawPaw. me: Already? We just left 30 seconds ago. W: yes, I love PawPaw. me: I know you do. He loves you too. W: Cooper I love you. Your my best friend don’t ever leave ‘kay? Coupe: ‘kay. W: oh thank you Cooper, your a good boy. me: wow. Do you know what you just committed to Cooper? Whiny bitchy sick husbands
2008-01-31 20:59:00 You know when your husband is so sick he’s a mean SOB? That’s where we are this week. Randy got poked in the eye while playing basketball tuesday night…ever since then he’s been a disaster mean ol mess to live with. he gets grumpy, whiny, depressed and bitchy when he’s sick. It’s annoying. I do not need my head biten off because the kids are screaming, running and acting like toddlers/little boys. Don’t snap at me or the boys because you feel like shit. 2008-01-31 20:54:00 Thank you for writing in to Five Guys. The only thing on our menu that contains gluten is our bread. Our beef is just 80% lean ground beef with nothing added Our hotdogs are Hebrew National Brand our fries are just potatoes, soaked in water, and then cooked in 100% peanut oil. Nothing else is fried in this oil. We also offer Heinz ketchup which does not contain gluten Our bread does contain eggs, soy and dairy. Our bread is toasted, but usually on a separate grill. However, there is always a chance for cross contamination, so please be cautious. We do, however, have many people with Celiac disease tell us that they can eat at Five Guys. If you are interested in nutritional information, please visit our website and click on the menu section. Did you read the part about the french fries?!! Holy cow that is GREAT NEWS. Must find time to get to a five guys sometime soon. By the way my Gluten free dairy free/whey free diet is going well…I’m finally in a gre...
It’s done. Over. Turned in. Check written.
2008-01-28 22:48:00 My nails are bitten off, my hands are dry. My son is now signed up for preschool 5 days a week from 9-1 starting in September. ack. Woodrow was the 12th kid to sign up for the 4’s class so he’ll should almost definitely get in. The director said sometimes there is a fluke thing that happens to put you on the wait listing but she said it’s more than unlikely because only two families signed up from the church. I’m feeling pretty wonderful about this school. It had an open registration so no long lines, waiting to see if you’ll make it in. It’s semi-affordable. It’s from 9-1. Sweeet. That means Cooper and I can sign up for swim classes or gym classes and still have time to have lunch together. AND I don’t have to worry about standing in line at two preschools on Jan 31st to get into one of them or be put on a wait list for both of them. Woodrow had his first gymnastic class with Xander and Ava today. He did so well and I’m so happy... More About: Check , Written
I’m diving in…
2008-01-25 15:01:00 I’m doing a Triathlon. It’s this one. Seems easy right? When was the last time you did laps in a pool? Yup..that’s the only part I’m worried about. Jessica told me she was doing it and it’s really something that’s been on my 100 things to do before I die so..what the heck. I have my workout schedule and have the Swim Center and open gym hours up on my fridge. I’ll be hitting the swim center this afternoon to see how bad my swimming skills are. I might drop off the blogosphere or I might end up bitching more. Only time will tell. Another fun thing Jessica told me about is this. Looks like a blast to me. We’ll probably go to the February dance party. More About: Diving
Do not disturb
2008-01-24 04:04:00 Because I’m on VoIP I should really try to utilize my Do not disturb feature on my phone. Anytime anyone calls me between 5:30pm and 6:30pm I completely lose it. Please do not call me during those hours. If your my sister or my parents and your house is on fire…okay you get a free pass…but if it’s not an emergency do not call me between 5:30 and 6:30pm. I will bite your head off. That hour of the day I’m stressed, counting down the seconds until Randy gets home and the boys are at the edge of their good/decent moods for the day. I only bring this up because this is the SECOND day in a row that my favorite MIL has called me at 5:45pm and would not shut up despite my desperate pleas to get off the phone with her. More stress from her today. Do not try to speak to me when I’m making dinner/calming the kids down and trying to feed the dog. I’m stressed and do not need your stress on top of mine. Overall we had a pretty good day. We had a fun...

2008-01-23 14:38:00 I finally met my neighbors this morning…while I was dragging the trashcans back into the garage. My hair was a mess and I was in my pajama’s…my kids screaming for me from inside with the garage down open. The neighbor says hello. It’s nice to meet you. She had her two dogs on a leash, her hair up in rollers and a pink and blue roller skate robe on. (I kid you not) She was probably my mother’s age. She said I see you have two children. They must keep you busy I said yes. Well…I turn to go up the driveway and she keeps talking and talking and talking. uh huh, uh huh, uh huh. *do you not hear my screaming kids?* Once I finally push forward and walk away she says oh it’s lovely to see a mom so involved with her kids. I said oh thanks…and she said the first time I saw you ‘you were riding on the tricycle’. I laughed and blushed the whole way up the driveway. I was wondering when this would come up. Raindrops falling on my head
2008-01-22 13:43:00 I was happily getting all my chores done yesterday morning when I popped my whites into the washer. Walked away from the washer and into the kitchen to do the dishes. Randy was in the garage trying to find some gadget to mount his fancy tv to the wall. He runs in and says something is um….Kara?! I look over and the ceiling is falling in the laundry room. Water is leaking all over the place and running down the walls. Remember how cold it is here? Well…that water was pretty darn cold. The pipe burst in 5 different places. What a mess. Luckily Randy could get up in the attic and fix the pipe. Thank GOD we were both home. Can you imagine coming home to a flooded basement and a flooded garage/laundry room? Do you feel the love?
2008-01-21 15:09:00 Last night I worked my butt off getting the office fixed up and putting away things in the storage room. I was up until almost 3am. Randy was up until 3am too but was playing video games all night long. We both went to bed knowing that Randy would get up with the boys. I got up with the boys this morning. This is not a post about how mad I am about this or how thoughtless he is…I got up because I felt rested and ready to go..if I made him get up he’d be cranky and grumpy and he’d yell at the kids causing me to be up anyways…so why bother him. Besides it gives me an excuse to nap later. Are you feeling a little unappreciated these days? Join the club I’ll have sign ups later. I won’t mention all the fifty other things I did this weekend that didn’t even get a second glance at from the hubs. Life is much better
2008-01-21 06:09:00 now that my pantry is stocked. We spent the day at the zoo. It was cold, but surprisingly crowded. There were four birthday party going on over at Amazonia so we ran out of there as quickly as we could and hit the Invertebrate house (my personal favorite) and then the reptile house. Woodrow had a good time until I asked him to pull his hat over his ears and he pulled it all the way over his face and fell flat on his face causing his nose to swell up and for him to bite his upper lip. Poor guy…he’s so accident prone like his mama. Oh the mommy guilt I felt this afternoon… Enjoying the butterfly exhibit. Woodrow actually said yum crabs. ha! Scary skull…Woody said take a picture take a picture mommy! um..yeah it’s a pelvic bone I think… Cooper loved all the microscope hands-on things. He couldn’t get enough of them..and was turning the wheel to see all the butterfly wings and bugs they had. And of course we all loved the stingrays&he... More About: Life
In laws
2008-01-20 14:18:00 As far as the last few Saturdays have gone we’ve packed up the boys taken them to soccer and then headed over to Grandma’s to help her get ready to sell her home. These past Saturdays have sucked. For me, the boys and especially my husband. Some random facts about my inlaws: I named my blog after them. “Do not try to understand them, because you can’t reason with crazy.” My mil is all talk and no action She is a complainer a loud one at that. She actually said yesterday that we were ruining her house. I think I punctured my tongue yesterday biting it so hard. If I had a large ladder to push her off of I would have done it yesterday. My blood pressure had to have been high because my ears were a bright shade of red all day yesterday. (I will referrer to MIL as She from now on) She called the HOA to complain about a tree hitting a neighbors fence. Not her own fence a NEIGHBORS fence. The tree is in her yard. The HOA came by and cut down the whole tree. ... More About: Laws

2008-01-18 03:43:00 The preschool tour: ‘eh. Left me feeling like what’s the big deal here? Most of the mothers there were stressed out. I swear to GOD it gave me the worst feeling in the world. They took a poll of how many mothers were there for the 3’s class and how many were there for the 4’s class…egads…the mothers in the 4’s class were pacing and stressing. It gave me a bad vibe. I have three more tours/open houses and all the applications are due Jan 31st. eeks. Decisions, decisions. The good news is all but one preschool is within 2 miles of our home. How awesome is that? I heart Olney. The bad news is I will never take my two kids with me on these tours/open houses again. Today was nice and all but only because I had Randy there to help me wrangle the boys. I can not and will not do this by myself. It would be a nightmare. Randy was ’sick’ today. He took his first official sick day today. We have been at each other’s throats most of ... I will not complain
2008-01-15 14:43:00 I will just digest more caffeine goodness. This weekend has been BUSY. We had soccer Saturday morning, the boys and I played and spent the majority of the day calming Cooper down. He was in full tantrum mode on Saturday. He screamed from 4:30pm until 6:50pm on Saturday asking for a goddamn Cookie. I was not losing this fight. Let him scream and scream and scream he did. Melinda can even vouch for me. *sigh* What a nightmare. Sunday we spent a good four hours at Ikea. I witnessed my first shoplifting experience at Ikea, and I even held the elevator for them. *sigh* We set up my craft room. Still have ALOT to do, but it’s looking pretty good so far. The book shelves we already had..so that’s why they do not match this room. We are cooking something great up for the office..more to come about that. Yesterday we took the boys to their art class. Woodrow still complained that he was bored, but he did SO much better this week than last. Woodrow *yes that’s a 3 eyed sn...

2008-01-11 14:33:00 Dh got up this morning at 5:30am. Left the house at 6am. The 3 and under in this house was up as well….running and chasing by 6:15am. Olie was the last one out of bed at 8am. I miss waking up at 8am for my job…. Randy has a HUGE presentation for the county executive today. I hope it goes well for him..I know he’s been nervous about it. When he gets nervous the whole house is out of wack. Thank God the weekend is almost here. Although that does mean more personal/family stress to deal with. *sigh* Randy started playing dodge ball again last night. They crushed the other team 7-0.
