Interesting little creatures

Toddlers say some pretty amazing things. Sometime they are funny, other times they are silly…and sometimes you wonder if they meant to offend you. Reading the Oh the Joy’s post about the difference between boys and girls reminded me of a conversation Woodrow and I had last night.  Last night I took a shower with the boys, mainly because they both begged me to. I have not showered with them in oh…probably 8 months. I’m generally never around them naked. Not because I don’t want them to see me most days I’m grabbing something out of the closet and running downstairs to make sure that they haven’t killed the dog or locked out a certain 2 year old outside. (yes that happened when we first moved in…I couldn’t find Cooper and Woodrow was laughing hysterically…..he pushed him out the front door and the poor kid was standing freezing on the front step not saying/screaming…just standing there…thinking this is a ne...

what a Target employee thinks when she walks into the ladies room and sees a 2 year old toddler trying to escape from a stall, a 3 year old saying ‘Hi I’m Matthew I’m three and I’m peeing. What’s your name?’ My 3 year old puts his finger to his lips and says ’shhhhhh I’m pooping.’ Nicccce. I’m sure that’s just what she needed to convince herself that a teen pregnancy might not be such a great idea.
Messes and Masterpieces
2008-01-07 21:57:00
We had our first art class this morning. Woody spent the whole morning telling me how bored he will be in an art class but we went anyways. Both boys were very tired..and Cooper wasn’t exactly keen on getting messy today…but Woody seemed to enjoy it. Cooper’s masterpiece Woody’s masterpiece This class was a blast…but it was CROWDED. We moved to the 11am class because the 10am was packed. Hopefully next week will be even better than this week.

Drama, stress, life and other randomness
2008-01-07 00:08:00
We’ve had a lot of drama in this household over the last couple of months. The drama between Randy and I have been nothing compared to the drama outside our walls. I do not cope well when stress directly affects me. I talk A LOT. I bitch a lot, I cry a lot. Stress does make me want to drink a case a of beer in one sitting, but I generally do not. I will try to hunt down chocolate or sweets…but the no gluten/no dairy thing is holding me back. I find that all I really want to do is nothing. Sit in front of the tv watch L&O Criminal intent until I walk upstairs and crawl into bed. Last night I put the boys into bed, went upstairs to watch tv while Randy vegged out in front of his Xbox. I found that my stomach was in knots and just couldn’t relax. I got in the shower and tried to let the water wash over me and let the stress melt away. No dice. I got into my favorite pj’s, found my favorite socks and got into bed ready to dive into a good book. I was to tens...

I finally finished HP7. The ending not so great…I thought it was about 50 pages to long. Yup that’s right. As I was plowing through I was thinking this is my favorite of the whole series and then I read the last 100 pages. To understand me a little here’s a secret. I always read the ending first. I hate books that end badly. If you lead me up to an ending and then push me off a cliff leaving me saying WHAT THE FUCK/WHY? or anything like that I hate your book. It could be 500 pages of sheer genius but if it ends badly for me…I have been known to throw the book in the trash, at the wall or down the stairs. HP 7 just left me saying huh. That was neatly tied up….huh. I guess when you end a 7 book series people want the bows tied and the characters finally saying goodbye. Oh well. Over the last couple of weeks (while we were w/o internet) Randy and I have been on edge. We love each other….but the stress of the move, holidays, the boys birthdays, ha...

My google reader is at 1000+ My gmail box is at 204 unread emails My verizon email is at 981 unread emails (freecycle mostly). I haven’t even ventured into my message board communities and probably won’t until tomorrow. I have so much to write and catch up. On the upside my house is completely unpacked, we installed two new toilets, did an awesome job organizing the storage room. I finally finished reading a stack of books and I have only one hundred pages left of HP7 to read!!! I would have stayed up last night to finish it but by then it was 2:30am and I had to get some sleep. I reorganized all my books, magazines and cd’s. I’ve taken numorous trips to the dump, salvation army and other fun places to donate and redistribute the stuff we no longer want. My craft room in the basement is awaiting furniture so I can sew up a storm. Cooper’s birthday party is this saturday and all of our family is coming over. Close to 40 folks. Am I ready for that invasio...

Verizon sucks. I won’t get back online until January 2nd. See you then.
Here we go…
2007-12-13 14:43:00
We are in the final push of moving and I’m freaking out a little. So much to do so little time. I’ll be online today but after tonight, I’ll be gone until late Monday. *Verizon is scheduled to show up on Monday sometime between 9am and 2pm.* How will the four of us survive without the tv and internet on Sunday?? Especially since the Survivor finale is Sunday night and we have no dvr to record it. eeks. Anyone want to invite me over Sunday night? *wink* We had a blast yesterday at the B&O Museum in Ellicott City. The boys won’t stop talking about all the trains we saw and Woodrow must tell you about it while jumping up and down and telling you every single detail. We must go back before the end of the year.
When your happy and you know it…

After a lovely call from Amanda this morning; *thank you Amanda you made my day just catching up with you made me smile* I got more good news from a friend that she is finally pregnant with her first child. Seriously where is this good streak coming from? LOVE IT. The boys and I have been dancing all morning. I’m waiting for my parents to come by so we can go out to lunch and shop a little. The boys and I are still a little sick but all this good news is making me giddy to get outside and experience life. To top off the morning Melinda just called to say that she’ll come by tonight to help me out! Woohoo. Thanks Aunt Lulu.

I had a great time last night. I was in such a wonderful mode driving home last night. I kept thinking as I was driving I’m not alone, I can do this. I got to the cooking class ten minutes late and I swear I thought I’d be holding everyone up. (I know I know…) But the room was packed! I’ve never met so many warm and wonderful people EVAH. Most were gluten free and dairy free. I got some great hints, some awesome recipes and even tried some Challah that I’m definitely making for Christmas morning to make French toast. It was delicious and tasted like I was cheating….it was that good. Not gritty or dry or gross. Yummy gluten free bread. I want to dive in this morning and cook but all my kitchen supplies are packed and sealed up. It will all have to wait until next weekend. I met a wonderful pastry chef out of Baltimore who runs a tiny kitchen in the city and she asked me to come in to see if she could offer me a side job. I was flattered but floor...

I’m also excited to see a Vegan restaurant that is also gluten free and it’s off Route 108. Can I hear a woohoo?! (so close to where we’ll be moving!)

Packing packing packing
2007-12-10 14:13:00
We completely packed our storage room, the shed and the kitchen yesterday. (the boys watched WAY to much tv this weekend) I’m getting really excited now and can’t wait to move. I keep dreaming of the new house. The boys and I are still miserable. I thought I was better but I woke up this morning feeling awful..and I don’t think it has anything to do with being up with the boys every hour of the night. *sigh* If these boys DO NOT take a nap today I might need to give them a serious talking to about their sleeping habits. I need to drag the boys back to my doctor so he can look at my ears again. I have to have an ear infection or something…my ears are killing me. Pass the kleenex…we’ll be using the whole box today.

Sorry about my last post. I didn’t include you guys in the email because well….we included all the friends we’ve known for FOREVER and they’ve helped us move 3 or 4 times…so we know they’ll help us. Besides I know ya’ll all have lives, kids and families to take care of. I was being nice keeping you off the list. If your volunteering to help…come on by. Either at part 1 of the move or part 2. We’ll meet at the old house at 9am on Saturday December 15th and we should be at the new house by 12:30 or 1pm. So feel free to pop over and help for an hour or two if your able. Something cool I just got in my email. Click and donate to help Celiac Disease sufferers. Jules from Nearly Normal Cooking will be hosting a showcase of gluten-free foods to sample on Saturday December 8th at Roots in Olney from 12-4pm. I’m going to try to pop over there amist all the packing but I’ll be catching her gluten free cooking class on Dece...
Letting it all hang out post
2007-12-07 14:52:00
Randy and I were laughing last night about how well we mesh together. We both value loyalty a LOT. If your our friend we will be loyal to you for well….until you break our loyalty. Or you do something unexpected that breaks the loyalty or we do something to you that breaks your loyalty to us. Where am I going with this…well we sent out our email begging our friends to help us move. (our loyal moving friends that helped us move into this house) Yes we’re moving ourselves. I’ll give you a moment to realize how cheap we are. We send out the email and the horrors one of our friends says he doesn’t do manual labor. Sorry. Randy said last night, ‘huh. He must not be my friend’.  I said what? Of course he’s your friend he just doesn’t want to help move all our crap. I don’t blame him I don’t want to do it either. Randy said what? Your telling me he’s my friend…when someone turns you down on something you auto...

Music will always cheer me up
2007-12-06 20:27:00
While I debate about taking a nap while the boys are sleeping I’m going to sit back and listen to all my favorite tunes on my Ipod. Music will always cheer me up. Especially if I listen to my library of mashups. How can you be upset when Jay-Z is singing 99 problems to the rhythm of 99 luft balloons. Or when your listening to the BeeGees and 50 Cent sing it’s your birthday. Hopefully I will forget all about the restless night I had and the hectic chaotic morning I had. Potty Training sucks especially when your in a power struggle with your son over where he should be going to the bathroom. Behind or on the couch is not acceptable. However funny you might think it is. Who knew an Ikea couch could hold so much urine….

Things that suck…
2007-12-06 14:06:00
Waking up at 3am feeling like a mack truck ran you over. Attempting to sleep on the couch alone and your *almost* three year tries to snuggle with you and your feeling miserable. Your head pounding and you just took two advil two hours ago. Forgetting to buy soy milk. No milk in your morning coffee. Two hyper toddlers who only want to venture out in the snow to pile it up and shovel it away and all you want to do is sleep, sleep, sleep. Having no sick days as a sahm. Hearing a busy signal when you attempt to call your physician. Taking two toddlers with you to see your doctor.

Packing and life
2007-12-05 13:58:00
I’ve been spending most nights packing so I have little time to blog, play scrabulous or do much of anything else. Yesterday I really wanted to start packing up the shed. So the boys helped. While I got very little done. I have this long long post in my head about how the stress of moving gets played out in your relationship, your parenting skills and your cooking. Please stick with me as the next two weeks fly by and we move, unpack and get settled. As a side note I will have no wireless access from December 15th through December 18th. I’m already trying to map out how I can access the internet during those three days.

Soccer cuteness
2007-12-05 13:50:00
We signed the boys up for soccer this winter. Saying that they love it is an understatement. Cooper was having a blast running after, kicking and jumping for all the soccer balls. He had a blast. I can’t wait to take them again on Saturday. So fun. After soccer we took them to get pizza and brownies and the boys actually shared a brownie with daddy…well cooper mostly ate it..but they ’shared’ very nicely.

our first broken glass incident
2007-11-29 17:02:00
in a store that is…. I was in the juice aisle at Target this morning and Woody picked up two sparkling grape juice bottles and I said no Woody put those down we don’t need them. He said NO in cart. I said no Woody put them back and before I could take them away from him he smashed them down on the floor. Sparkling grape juice all over the place, all over my jeans and shoes. *sigh* Luckily another mom was behind me and said she’d call someone for me. I thanked her and the Target personnel was very nice about it but man…..what a mess.

Yesterday the boys helped rake the backyard for the last time. There were so many leaves Woody insisted on helping. He did great and got the concept of moving all the leaves into the woods. What a little helper! Cooper was to busy to help. He was busy jumping into the leaves and bouncing again and again in them.

Emotional wreck
2007-11-28 16:08:00
Amid the stress of selling/moving/packing our house I’m also dealing with the loss of my Father in law. It hit me hard on Thanksgiving day. We had just come back from Randy’s grandmother’s house and we were at my mom’s house and I was smiling at my dad talking to my son. And it hit me. I didn’t see Randy’s dad today. He will never smile at my kids again. He will never hug them, touch them, love them again. He’s gone. I started bawling my eyes out. Isn’t it weird how you just get hit emotionally like that sometimes? I couldn’t stop crying. Randy even said to me oh man we’re in real trouble when your parents die. Today would have been my father in law’s 56th birthday. Happy Birthday Randy Sr. We miss you so very much.

Home inspections
2007-11-21 14:53:00
Our house had it’s inspection last night. The house we are buying is on Saturday. Have I mentioned how much I hate the whole ‘people snooping’ through your stuff experience? Oh I don’t know if it has ANYTHING to do with the fact that our house was robbed in November 2002 or anything where they took everything out of every nook and cranny we owned. ooooo GOD it bothers me to have people in our home when I’m not there. I got home last night and the inspector didn’t close our blinds just left them danging up in the air on each and every one of the windows…I don’t care that he checked them just that he didn’t put them back. grrrr Then I go downstairs and they took everything off my shelves to check out the back wall on our store unit. They wrote a note saying they moved it to look to see if their was water damage. (um okay……whatever) but put my damn stuff back.  grrrr I’ll be so happy when this process is over. ...

We got the settlement date we wanted. December 14th. ack! We’ll be moving before Woody turns 3. ack! We signed all the important paperwork tonight and our house has it’s home inspection tomorrow. I’m actually very interested to see what they find. Randy and I have worked very hard on this house and the only things I can imagine they’ll find a problem on is the windows and one of the gutters…but I’m sure there is a lot more that could be wrong with it. It should be an interesting day tomorrow. We read our home inspection report from June of 2007 on the house we are buying tonight. The house we are buying was sold to a relocation company in June of 2007 and has been on the market since then.  They did all the standard inspection reports and part of the disclosure paperwork included all the results. It was a good read and we shouldn’t see anything unusual on our inspection report. Or so we hope. The house has been vacant since June and there ...
