life even less blogged?
2008-04-15 18:56:00
…maybe not at all. It’s been a wonderful 3 years but I think that’s it now. It’s been very healing and I’ve ‘met’ so many lovely people but all things have their time. I’ve felt a strong need to “de-personalise” our webspace for a while, make our lives private again. May pop back with the ...

bits and pieces in brief
2008-04-08 17:17:00
been reading a few interesting things: Old Andrew from Scenes from the Battleground met Gordon Brown and tried to discuss bullying with him - go see… why do governmental types never seem able to hear anything past their own current buzzwords? We found the same with local govt… I’ve been a member of Pinecone Research for years - they ...

The previously mentioned scary road on Raasay, filmed by people cycling along it (not as scary as going by car I think). Doesn’t really show the terrifying bit but you do see the flying pigs sign Here on youtube

Found a gorgeous shop in Portree on holiday - Skye Batiks. They give you tea/coffee when you go in and are generally very friendly and welcoming. Puffin and Celtic Cross in background: It’s actually hot today (bear in mind I have lived here a long time and have a possibly skewed idea of hot). Brilliant sunshine. Took ...

2008-03-30 19:41:00
Basic vanilla sponge recipe like this one (minus the choc chips and pecans mentioned there obviously). Blend a punnet of rasps (keep some back for decoration) with a carton of Granovita’s Cream ovita (this is really thick like whipping cream) and some icing sugar - fill and cover cake with this It’s VERY VERY good!

Look Me in the Eye
2008-03-23 12:42:00
Just finished reading ‘Look Me in the Eye - my life with aspergers’ by John Elder Robison. It is a totally fascinating read on several levels. He has had an interesting life, developing amplifiers and special effects for Kiss and Pink Floyd in the past, moving on to the toy industry then eventually starting his own business ...

2008-03-18 09:12:00
3 years ago today was our first day of home ed. I can’t actually remember much about what we did but I imagine it involved a lie in and a lot of sitting around feeling relieved! I find it interesting to look back at the childrens school time with more objectivity now. The highly emotive ...

Lucy, Lucy, quite contrary?
2008-03-12 12:15:00
…lots of gardening been going on, between torrential rain showers. Weve planted up propragaters with various planned things: kale, brocolli (early sprouting), celery and tomatoes;  toms I intend growing on in the front porch. I won’t detail them but I may have nightmares about the strange plants the kids chose and that are now growing in their ...

Glasgow aftermath
2008-02-27 10:29:00
Glasgow in a bag has pride of place (out of it’s bag) - I’ve always loved little wooden buildings When we went to the school museum we discovered it didn’t open until 11 so were an hour early - hopped on underground and went into town. The result of this was naughty purchases in ...

The interim report of the primary review (quite interesting to read the real thing instead of media takes on it there) has spurned a flurry of home ed related articles which is great - I feel much good may come of this. More people will be aware of their choices at the very least. Usual state-school-apologist numpties ...

sanding down, Chinese New year and some films
2008-02-09 17:48:00
