The Heat That Gets To Me
2007-05-09 10:09:00
Perpetually optimistic and perpetually pruning jnetsworld. I continue growing my world despite disappointment and setbacks. But sometimes the heat does get to me and so I break out in heat rashes and get nosebleeds. It is never fun to feel compromised. I played into people's agendas this week thinking that I was in a clearing for friendship but later found myself in gallows of contempt.I won't take it too personally. In being a witness to my friend's pains, I was naive to think that I can offer some comfort and not be overtaken by strong currents. I have a slight sense of malaise from offering myself. If I feel exhausted and ill, I can only imagine the pains they are feeling.M: "You have tons of positive energy."J: "I spend a great deal of time alone to generate it."If I don't want confusion in my life, I clear out confusing situations and people. If I want integrity and stability, I surround myself with people who are committed and calm. Having "tons of positive energy" is no...

My student that I fired a couple of weeks ago has been ringing up my phone recently but not leaving a message. She is still studying the cello with a colleague of mine and standing on thin ice with her. She will be hard-pressed to find someone within my circles to teach her the piano..My "student" who was "older and wiser" gave me some insulting and unsolicited advice which showed her the door. I have since found TWO students and we are enjoying a mutually respectful relationship.A "friend" called upon me this past week to "save" me from the impending doom of this terrible world. I told him that I saw nothing wrong with this world and that I loved it as well as my life. His sentiment was dogmatic. His "saving" was unsolicited and I made a run for it (my front door). The sky was not falling. He was the one falling apart and I was in no mood to save him. He wouldn't want my type of saving anyway... I was the LOST cause... my downfall??? I'm a Christian... and in HIS eyes... LOST. Fu...

Romancing LA
2007-05-06 00:48:00
Ahh to love Los Angeles... It's a contentious subject to some. It's not that the smog has overtaken me or that I relish joining the parade of cars to drive 10 miles over a course of an hour.I think the challenge interests me. Los Angeles is my Mt. Everest for creating real human connections of substance despite the plethora of plasticity. Los Angeles is my martial arts stage where I learn to relax into becoming a master within the center of egotistic chaos. And despite the silicon cloned, tanning salonized, image proselytlized worshippers, I have found some genuine souls with real gold hearts. Roman cing Los Angeles has become my adventure, a true desert to wander through, to not be seduced by false paths and trust that I will thrive. There are some truly beautiful GORGEOUS souls that have a special shine and I'm casting those folks into my life; my world.Princess N and I are debuting our blogradio show in a few weeks. It is called Romancing LA. It's on life, loving your own person...
Going My Way?
2007-05-04 00:43:00
"We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls."Anais NinDespite feeling dizzy, out-of-sorts, and on the edge of a fever, I decided to venture out to Hollyweird for a late night chat with an old friend; Mystic.Personally, Hollyweird is not my flavor though the natives were amusing. And, of course, I was interested in seeing Mystic after ousting him from my kingdom a couple of months ago. He requested my audience and my stay-at-home and cosy-up-with-a-book plan wasn't going to work with his restlessness. It was a friendly night. We began the evening at a quiet hookah cafe and had a long, long talk over a badly prepared dirty martini at The Geisha House (chic place... shabby martini)...JNET: "What do you want or need from me?"MYSTIC: "What do you mean?"JNET: "I believe we all have reasons for crossing certain paths and I thought we were complete with knowing one another, having learned as much as we could before we must press on with our respective li...

My Three Crushes
2007-05-02 00:41:00
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." AristotleAside from my epic crush with the mathematician, I've entertained two minor crushes this past month; one with my dentist and the other with CH who lead the seminar I attended recently. The minor crushes in reality are pie in the sky and are fun to entertain. I get to learn a bit more about myself without taking life too seriously. (Though I seriously would love it if mr. epic crush would be done with school, have time to fall madly in love with me, marry me and be the one I share my applesauce with in my later years.)Sorry, I digressed. Back to my minor crushes that I am enjoying so that I can study my own patterns of thought. What do all these crushes have in common? Dark hair, fit bodies, read and study voraciously, (oooolala factor) sensitive to details and nuances, compassionate toward people, ambitious and excited in their work and well loved and respected among their f...

Why Aren't YOU Dating?
2007-04-30 20:25:00
"At the first kiss I felt something melt inside me that hurt in an exquisite way. All my longings, all my dreams and sweet anguish, All the secrets that slept deep within me came awake, Everything was transformed and enchanted, everything made sense."Hermann HessePrincess N and I are writing up our first blogradio segment. Seeing that "dating" is our favorite tenuous subject to tackle and that we have polarizing opinions over the topic, we thought it might make for an interesting show. With my enjoy life and the sanity that singleness affords me, I've had debate with love warriors who claim that I am a nonsentimental goodbye girl. Goodbye Mystic, goodbye ABC, goodbye Mr. B, goodbye dear 3 kings...etc... It was brought up among the sisterhood lastnight, why aren't they dating at all and why do I have a silly parade that I let walk on by.Something truly exquisite... that's what I want. It's easy to not mourn my solititude when I know my prospects are very far from a dream I have in ...

Within the Eternal Space

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." Henry Van DykeThe mathematician... the mathematician....I visited this place of eternity with him. That place where time stops and moves quickly. How? Why? I usually travel alone and yet he managed a seat next to me. He still manages to do so and I haven't seen him in a while. Why am I still traveling alone and why did I meet him?I can have my fill of life and be blessed with my tea cup overflowing; emptied and filled again with new people and experiences and yet, the mathematician is that quietest voice I hear. And it makes me laugh like I'm watching a pink bunny with batteries before me. But my pink bunny doesn't just pace mechanically and aimlessly. It dances, sings, plays, writes and sleeps peaceably full of dreams. How amusing and very sweet. Has he given me the Eternity that mystics speak of? What to do...

Minding the Boundaries of My Piece of Heaven
2007-04-17 22:26:00
I let go of a student today. She was also someone on my forgiveness "stage" during this past weekend's exercise. K had not shown up to her appointments with me for the last three consecutive weeks and during my brief calls with her all she could say.."Let's reschedule, I'll call you later." Later came and passed. I sat in my teaching studio minus my student another week. I left a message on her phone."K, I am a bit confused here. I am at the studio and you are not here. Perhaps you are on your way. Please call me." She did not return that call until three weeks later. She showed up at my home today wishing to resume her lessons and then she wanted to discuss paying me less since she wasn't going to meet me at the studio. And that is when I got that I had to let her go and that I was giving her her final lesson."K, it is true that I must be compensated with money for my time teaching but there is something more valuable than dollars here that needs to be valued and that is...

Struck Down By The Weight of A Feather
2007-04-17 05:58:00
"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it."Mark TwainThe weekend was full of interesting conversations. The most engaging ones happened alone in my head. With the coaching of Christopher Howard leading a sea of souls through their individual journey, I docked front and center before the stage with my eyes closed like everyone else for the "Forgiveness Exercise."Was it a visual meditation? I don't know how to label the experience. It was profound... and a refreshing break from intensive lectures on neurolinguistic programming, the UNconscious mind, imprinting, hypnosis and the history of personal development technologies, psychology, and psychoanalysis. In the dark private space of my thoughts, I was asked to bring before my "stage" people I had known through-out my life. We began with childhood friends and then moved through the phases of life, recalling those that we felt we wanted to get complete with and be free of any energetic ties that...

Making Suggestions Into My Subconscious
2007-04-17 05:53:00
"There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."Nelson MandelaI'm blowing a kiss into my mind...What is your UNconscious mind and why the hell should you CARE???Let's see, consciously, you get to choose what you want to wear, what to eat, what you want to think about at a given second...Your unconscious mind meanwhile helps you with the stuff you don't want to spend every moment concentrating on DOING... when to beat your heart, move the cells around, where to store memories, process your food.I learned this weekend that your conscious mind is dwarfed by the command system of your unconscious system... It's not a 50/50 deal. It's more like 95/5.Well that's good to not have to worry about what to do with air, where to direct blood and neurons...UNFORTUNATELY, the unconscious mind makes a lot of judgements from it's vast storage of memory that we may not be aware of at every given second.I attended a b...

The Secret People

What values motivate Oprah? How does the mind of Trump, Gates, and Buffet work? What thought patterns does a billionaire take on and where do I stand within that? It's a seminar. It's a party. It's a peel yourself like an onion and take stock of your life by kicking your own backside celebration.Freud's world of psychoanalysis-years-of-therapy program is grossly outdated by the new technologies of digging into the mind with Christopher Howard's "Breakthrough to Success" program.... a primer into a world where one can REPROGRAM oneselves from self-defeating habits and create roads towards a life that is open to success quicker than Freud can clean his false wooden teeth and return for your session.A certain "exercise" reconfigured my emotions over a certain moment within minutes. I cried my eyes over it for a second and was OVER it ENTHUSIASTICALLY. NO, silly, I wasn't BRAINWASHED... Hello Winking World...I miss the mathematician... my mythological god of an epic crush. He's wonderful because he's thus far managed to be the kindest human being I've met... as well as ambitious, sexy and smart. But he sailed off to academia to slay the doctorate dragon. And so this princess wondered....Are there more sweet princes in the world? Young kings?Off sailed away my mathematician and in came the magician; Mystic, with a ready story and twinkling trick to entertain the days away. Entertainment went only so far before I realized the whole program and got bored with the re-runs.The mathematician represented transformation and grace to me. I could not settle for the lackadaisical world of magic and tricks. And so, I banished the magician from my kingdom not wishing to tarry my days with the trinkets of false gold and not soon after came along Mr. B, a common man who professed for the good of mankind with lofty ambitions.Mr. B built wings of ambitous words, words, words but n...

WORD UP: Behold, I Make All Things New
2007-04-09 20:25:00
Rev. 21: 5I can't seem to find a dictionary that gives justice to the word BEHOLD.It doesn't merely mean a fancy way of saying "looky looky" and it is not a gloried way of say "tada!"To "behold" for me means... to open one's awareness to that which is and has always been before one and to command one's attention to behold is to put aside distraction, breathe and become rigorously present to an unchanging truth. To behold is to be in the space of an eternal now and be free of the imposition of past and the imposition of "future's" demands. To behold is to be still... and in the stillness be renewed by re-claiming or reconnecting to one's original design...The one where God declared that all is good.Happy Easter.JNET

In The Stillness
2007-04-09 08:21:00
Easter service began with a thirty minute meditation. That is, 30 minutes of SILENCE with the lights turned down while sitting quietly among 3000 souls. This can be extremely difficult for some people. How does one walk from a life that runs on sensory overload to sitting still? In the silence, babies cooed and some cried. Most people were able to sit with their silence peaceably while others struggled with stifling coughs, habitual clearing of throats and knuckles and nervousness of not being subjected to a stimulus. In the silence, life is no longer a spectator sport and one is challenged with whatever thoughts like to take free range of the clearing space. I had a moment where I chuckled because silence is so hard to create with 3000 people. But I also had many moments at being awed that over 3000 people were striving to create that space together. In that space of 30 minutes, I found peace and awe... though in that very same space others ran their worries in their heads... wo...

Ambivalence is not someone to become bestfriends with and courting time with Indecision is a great way to lose one's self... literally. Not wanting to take Mr. B down a garden path and undoing myself in the process, I got off the fence and left the garden. I feel so much better.Curiously, distractions come bolting through the garden as soon as I tried to take leave with my happy decision. The phone rang and a ghost of Christmas past said hello."How's the sexist woman in the universe?" a vaguely familiar voice with an unfamilar phone number said...It wasn't exactly the most trustworthy voice... later identifed as the infamous X."How's your girlfriend?""What girlfriend?""The one you go home to every night and sleep with and just bought a house with girlfriend.""You know all about that?"(When you attend a very tiny private school, people sometimes keep you caught up with news you don't care to know. Bye Bye March Madness
2007-04-01 02:37:00
My darling world had a bit of a hiccup this month. Thank God for a fresh start with upcoming April. I landed onto Marc h with a slide onto homeplate full of scuffs and proverbial bruises. March was a shaky month for me despite clearing away the questionable Mystic, grabbing some free time to escape to Palm Springs for a weekend, enjoying a visit from mom and niece and gaining a new roommate and friend (we seem well matched thus far)....I could've done with a bit more hugs and a nice windfall of cash to make for a stronger rise after the dust settled but a shaky ascension is better than lying down to humor self-pity. It is still raining but I stand under my umbrella. Do I wish I had some company to sing songs with while I wait the storm off? No.I found myself avoiding certain phone calls and not answering to certain emails that seemed to want to steal the wind I had to muster myself with."Honey, I am sorry that I can't help you. You live in Los Angeles. If you moved closer to me...

Shaking The Reds
2007-03-27 20:18:00
Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?Paul Varjak: Sure.Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then - then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!(breakfast at tiffany's)***************Like Holly, I'm looking for that place of quietness and proudness where nothing bad can happen. Perhaps that is what makes people buy furniture and cats too....The world must be full of lucky, lucky people to h...

Me and Mr. B
2007-03-26 20:12:00
He's nice. We have a great time and enjoy conversation and music together. And yet I am not inspired beyond cheerful conversation."Darwin would love you." my roommate told me this morning after relaying how Mr. B and I spent the day together."Who's Darwin?""Charles Darwin, evolutionist... you know, survival of the fittest.""Of course, that Darwin...a geek for a geek goddess."Mr. B and I may have the neural connection to discuss literature, music and science but he doesn't make me laugh. Hmmmm. G made note of that last weekend while in Palm Springs with a few friends for a getaway. Not many people put me in a goofy, light or side splitting mood.Comedy is about style and timing. It's all very personal and I suppose what I'm feeling when the gags are going around are that the laughs are for a general audience. I feel like the message is "someone love me" with arbitrary affections. It's strange to hear a joke and become present to feeling unsettled.... but then again, self-depreca...

2007-03-21 10:01:00
I am tired and restless.I wish I could lean upon someone and not have to be so strong and steely... Wearing pink and pigtails yet having to lead, or plan or delegate polarizes me. After hearing so many discouraging stories this week, I still choose to believe that water exists for this flower...Overhead this week...Girl on dating guy for five years: "I found a girl's necklace under his pillow. He said it's been there since he's moved in. How stupid is that!"Girl on dating a guy for a year... has housekey and lives there part-time to a girl she found out was dating her guy also for the past year: "Didn't you see any of my clothes in the closet? Our pictures?Girl 2: "No, there was nothing. And I had a key too."Girl 1: "You must've seen my toothbrush..."Girl 2: "Was it red?"Girl 1: "Yes! That's my toothbrush! There are days when I feel like I have the world on the palm of my hand. And there are days when I feel like I've misplaced it.I've been feeling UGLY lately... monstrousfully UGLY.I sat with my imperfections this week and they laughed at me. Never mind that I have a mind and talents that bring me respect and admiration, never mind that I have a healthy and fit body that enjoys bikini summers, never mind that I have the support of friends and family that lavish love and compliments upon me.Love has a way of thinking everything is beautiful and overlooking imperfections. This week, I guess, I didn't love myself as much as everyone.I beat myself to a pulp. I magnified the ugliness that everyone overlooks...."What? You're getting braces? What for? .... What? You don't need to diet. You look great.... What? You're thinking of getting a roommate? You can afford to be on your own."The imperfections gave me terrific headaches this week... as well as a cold. I stayed home agai...

Love Is Friendship on Fire
2006-09-12 09:07:00
I've heard this saying of friendship on fire. It has been said by many and Bruce Lee even has he own version.“Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.”I love it. Because when I think of my friendships, they are like fireworks that truly light up my life? It's beautiful.I found myself in a bit of an attack last night from a round of girls that were not my friends. They were strangers... someone else's friends at a party last night."Well then you mustn't care about people if you don't care to call them.. If I don't hear from someone I'm dating within three days, I think it's wrong."But it's not wrong if you don't hear from your family or friends for a while? Seems a bit needy to me and egotistic. I hate talking on the phone. My own mother knows that and she doesn't hold it...

Adoring Albeniz
2006-07-10 10:46:00
by NebulaskiN.I planned on spending the weekend with Albeniz. I wanted to dig into Evocacion, a difficult piece that would demand that my head, heart and soul connect together... something that I have not had together in harmony for a while.I began memorizing Cordoba as well and it felt good to feel it.I adore Albeniz's music because it makes me think of the mathematician. It is what he plays for me on his guitar when I am with him as well as his own compositions. If what we believe about the multi-dimensions of reality is true, then I want to believe that when I play Albeniz; the universe will tell him that I am saying hello to him. I don't know if it's romantic rubbish. I just know how he is and all I can do is trust it as he disappears into his work. Does he hear me in the subleties of his silent moments and thinks of me?Meanwhile life has given me one heck of a road to travel and the lessons are challenging. Freedom and free will is quite a gift and I wonder how I might best n...

The Crushing Effects of Love

I fell in love last year. Being independent to a fault, I'm battling ways of being that undermine connection. So when I met (was set-up with) the lattice theory/ music theorist and was charmed by his lack of pretense and intellectual ambition and refreshing silliness, I walked smack into a wall of fear that I didn't see before me. I began losing my words and would be paralyzed into a box of silence. Maybe it was the rounds of name that composer and time signatures... maybe it's terrifying that he seems to be interested in me.We made it through that silent phase and he was engaged with his doctoral studies. I was able to buy time and figure out what was going on inside of me. That was interesting.I wrote my mathematican letters from my shadow (jungian) identity to entertain him and give him some insight in who I am. I also wrote him extremely whimsical nonsense just to blast away any notions towards becoming uptight (the inner battle) We became friends.Learning to identify and dist...

I don't know if we create it or if it's simply the way we are with everyone else ... It's nice that we come to the table from a space where I sense mutual respect and admiration mixed with flirtation (the respect and admiration being the main tool for flirtation). He is writing his thesis; a book that he wants to write for a general audience. He speaks powerfully and honestly yet he is restrained and has control over his thoughts and emotions. I understand it. He is sparing but generous. He can be a man of few words who listens, yet he speaks well, eloquently and is self-expressed. He is unattached yet consistent. He is a non relationship that keeps occuring and creating itself. As for ...
