Last Thursday I had yet another job interview on a mission to secure my French Visa… This time it is to work as a junior PR executive for an Italian Brand producing luxurious bags and high-quality ready-to-wear garments for both Men and Women. The result would come out end of this week so if I got the job I would let you know what this brand is. There is no better time to wear flats than summer. And these classic Belle Vivi er flats from Roger Vivier will do nothing but flatter your feet to their full potential. I made a mistake of waiting for them to be on sale last season. They weren’t on sale… I was so disappointed that I ended up buying other things like a Chloe bag or a pair of Yves Saint Laurent shoes instead. This season is another story. I want them and I want them more than anything (apart from the Lanvin moccasins of course). I know they will look as good on me as they look good on the brand’s muse Ines de la Fressange. I want them now in every colour and every material.

I am appalled by this month’s American Harper Bazaar’s cover, lowering itself into some sort of a cheap tabloid by putting these two on the cover… Paris Hilton and Nico l e Richie. Hadn’t we got enough of these two attention seekers yet? An endless list of scandal, of sex tapes, rehabs, and prisons. And there are people worshipping them, loving them, etc, etc. I’m no moralist but these two are just plain rubbish. I almost pitied her when I saw her crying on the way to prison. Exactly this day last month, I mentioned in this blog about this movie Paris Je t'Aime. This movie is divided into 18 short stories representing 18 districts of Paris (There were plans of 20 stories for 20 districts but 2 didn't fit in). As usual, every first sunday of each month, you get free entry to the main museums of Paris; The Louvre, Centre Pompidou, and Musee d’Orsay. This month I took the opportunity to go to Musee d’Orsay after at least 6 months from the last time I went there. This place used to be a train station until it was turned into what it is today. The place is still as striking as ever, many many tourists and locals as it is free but the size of the place and the beauty of the art pieces there make massed humanity strangely bearable. I, however, arrived fashionably late at around 5 pm not knowing that the museum closes at 6. So after a little bit of Thomas COUTURE’s Romains de la Decadence (Romans during the decadence) , which is in the first hall, we were horded off… Thank god I’d seen most of the pieces there already otherwise I wouldn’t have forgiven myself. So long that men had been taught to be overly virile and rough and to see fashion as something deemed too sissifying for words. With much slower pace in development in terms of style and there are much fewer shops specialised in menswear, I am utterly delighted to at last see a whole department store devoted to Men's fashion. BHV or Bazaar de l'Hotel de Ville is an ancient department store best known for the DIY things for your house such as screws, hammer, knots, etc, etc and many things that you could hardly find elsewhere. Like other department stores, it also offers many other products such as cosmetics, garments, house decor, but with dubious identity because it's stuck in a state of limbo not being able to go luxe as it attracts the DIY crowds and can not afford to go right down to the rough side as it is too big to just focus on DIY things alone.Until recently, it has opened a new department occupying a whole new block and named it BHV Homme - BHV Men. When I moved into my old apartment in the 1st arrondisement of Paris (Louvre, Chatelet, Palais Royal) late December 2006, I became neighbours to a divine vintage boutique on rue de la Grande Truanderie. The owner is this cute little lady named Dominique Cesselin and the boutique is called Iglaine.With an extensive list of garments and accessories there I made that place my ultimate destination for something unique. It's never one to disappoint, from chic designer pieces to remarkable non-brands. I would spend hours and hours trying on everything the boutique has offer with the company of Mme. Paris is a city full of “musicians”. Usually if you take the metro, you have thick chance of meeting them, mostly they come with accordians,or mouth organs. Sometimes, they play violins and guitars with vocals and without. It is also not unusual to see someone with a big speaker, or Asians with their traditional instruments. If you come to Paris with an image of a Romantic City, these people never disappoint. Prepare your ears to the familiar La Vie en Rose, Besame Mucho, etc, etc. I even heard America’s Star Spangled Banner once… These music are offered for free but do also feel free to donate. Such musicians, albeit their dubious talent, cheer me up whenever I feel down and lost. They make my journey much more cheerful and memorable as if I was in a movie with a sweet backdrop in each scenes. Pictured above is no beggars. After a few weeks of cold breezes and rain, now the Sun is back in Paris again today and to welcome it back, I, with my SPF 50 sunblock, went out for a long stroll with my friends Warsha and Monique. We were greeted by thousands of blooms everywhere we walked… Well, of course… we walked from Warsha’s place through Ile de la Cite and then through the Pont Neuf which is an area where they sell flowers. Not bad for a Saturday morning to cheer me up a little from having to walk with too many tourists on the streets.
