What a nice weekend I just had. Friday night I had had my granddaughter over to play. She is so sweet and just a joy to spend time with. I think this (9mo) is my favorite age. Every time I have her over she is doing some thing new. Then Saturday afternoon my sister and I took the kids to Hallmark for the big Webkinz Extravaganza. Where they each played games and had fun and came home with a couple more Webkinz.  After that I went out for a little shopping and came home with a couple of tops for work and a couple more casual tops for summer. Thank you Sears, buy one get one free sale!  I really needed them. Then the three of us headed to my sisters house and enjoyed a night of pizza, drinks and geeky play. I work with one other woman and about a dozen men. Most days I don?t mind it or even see most of them men because they run machines out in our shop. So unless they get a phone call or I have a question for one of them it?s like a two person office in here with us ladies. Not today! While I was busier then heck all day, most of the men were in here huddled around our extra computer talking about their nfl picks. They were like little boys! Even getting so excited at times I had to ask them to keep it down before I could answer the phone. Sounded like they had a good time but I am telling you, some of those men can be real serious about their nfl picks.

I have been really cutting back on my food portions and trying to eat a lot healthier. I am also increasing my amount of exercise and I am already seeing results. I have been feeling pretty good about it. Until this afternoon. I feel like I am starving. To make it even worse my boss and a few of the guys are in the office right now eating McDonald?s. One even has a sundae. I am so jealous!

I just opened our escrow statement for the year and I can?t believe it our house payment finally went down some. Down to $1268.00 a month! After paying $1500.00 for the past year to cover a mistake in the escrow, this is great news. All the more reason to enjoy a few drinks tonight! Whoo hoo !

I am so glad today is Friday . In a couple of hours I will out of the office and ready for my weekend to begin. I have a lot of plans for the next couple of days. Including spending time with family, including my granddaughter, tonight my sister, her husband and my handsome nephew tomorrow. Then on Sunday we have dinner plans with my parents. Which I am really looking forward to and some where in there we plan to fit in more of the yard work we started last night and tearing off some of our wallpaper. Wow, my weekend sure sounds busy but as long as it?s time with the people you love busy can be good. A couple of funny pics of Rebecca in her Underground hat from London.

I was up way too late watching TV shows off of my DVR last night. I think I fell asleep some where around 2:00am. Then my sweet little granddaughter Rebecca woke me up at 6:00am ! It?s so not like her to wake up that early. She is a real sleeper and usually sleeps in at least till 8 or 9:00am. That is why SHE is back to sleep already and I am sitting here with Allison sipping my Diet Coke and pushing myself in to the shower. I have to drive Rebecca home by noon and then this afternoon Allison and I have plans with my sister and nephew to check out a Webkinz Extravaganza party at our local Hallmark shop. I swear these Webkinz are like crack! Allison is so excited she is beside her self with anticipation.

Allison had a great time but was very happy to be home last night. She met us at the terminal with tears rolling down her face and great big hugs. Things were kind of hectic getting in last night. We really only had a few quiet minutes together before bed. I am looking forward to seeing her photos tonight that I dropped off this morning on my way to work and hearing all about everything. So far she told me as far as sight seeing The Eiffel Tower was her favorite. In fact she called us from France to tell us that before she even came home. We knew that while on her trip the best way for her call home any time she wanted was by using international phone cards. It just makes things a whole lot easier when it comes time to pay the bill because there is no bill. We have been big users of using calling cards while on vacation even before I searched GetMeCallingCards.com for the best France calling cards a week before she left. I LOVE to shop online! I have been spending a lot of time ?dream? shopping lately. There is some thing really fun and relaxing to me about being able to shop a dozen or more stores yet never leaving my desk. It?s kind of stress reliving for me. I started by updating my wish list the first of the month, because you all know it?s my birthday next week. Ya that?s right, 38 only two more of those bad boys and I am the big 4 0 ! Yesterday when things were quiet here at work I spent far too much time picking out and falling in love with a new dinning room set and living room furniture for our house that we so can not afford right now. I am such the dreamer.

Missing Allison

In some ways I can?t believe Allison will be back home tomorrow night already. These two weeks went by so fast. Yet there have been a lot of moments like this morning when I went in to her room to feed her bunny my heart kind of ached a bit. I really miss her. Two weeks is a long time for my eight year old to be gone so far from home. I also got her post card from France today. I can?t wait to hear all about everything.

I love it that I can track their flight online. I woke up and saw they had left London on time and will be landing in Washington this afternoon and then arriving in Detroit this evening. I can?t wait to pick them up at the airport and give my girl a big hug.

Not so beautiful

I woke up this morning with a bad head ache then with in an hour I was throwing up. I hate to throw up ! I am one of those people who will do any thing to NOT do it and wine like a little baby about it. It?s just about 5:30pm and this is my first attempt to focus my eyes and get down a few saltines. This was not the Sunday I had in mind. We even had dinner plans I had to cancel with my parents who just returned from three months in Florida. I am so not happy about being sick.

Sick day

I was up first with my husbands alarm and then up with mine. Both times walking around the room trying to decided if I feel any better. I finally called off for the day and went back to bed. I slept until almost 10:00am. That is so not like me. I am not a sleeper. Now that I am up and showered I think I am feeling a little better. My head and all of my joints still ache pretty bad but I just ate and kept it down for the first time in over 24 hours. So, I think thats a good sign. I sure hope I am on my way back to normal because it?s pissing me off. The weather is beautiful outside again today and I am trapped here on the couch.

After a great time last night at ?girls night? I woke to a beautiful day here in my hood. I had all of our blinds and windows open since the crack of dawn. Even the hound is enjoying the nice morning. She has been out side chasing squirrels out of our yard for about three hours now. So far, I have read a nice email from my mom and Allison telling me what a great time they are having in London, cleaned the living room, showered and whipped up a yummy batch of blueberry muffins. My house smells so good right now. I love these kind of mornings. Life is good.

My boy Oscar

You know I love boxing! I have loved since the early 80?s and really fell hard when Tyson was in his hay day so to speak. he was ?the man?! As I got older and as I spent more time watching boxing as a sport I realized there is a whole lot more to it then just punching some one out. I have picked a lot of favorites over the years and have a list of boxers that I will make sure I watch when ever they are in the ring. One being ?my man? Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya. I know he?s a pretty boy and most fans either love him or hate him and I tried not to like him, I really did but I can?t help it. There is a reason why the Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. match shattered box office records. The two of them together is an awesome and entertaining night of boxing!  Now there is talk of a rematch happening some time in September. If there is one thing my husband could hand me for my birthday that would make me jump up and down it would be Mayweather vs De La Hoya tickets. I can?t...

My boss just walked in my office and said ?Hey Jenn, lets shut things down at 3:30 today?. I looked at him and said very maturely, ?sure, things have been pretty quiet today. I can do that?. In my head I am doing a high five and screaming YES ! Now, not only do I get to start my weekend an hour early but I get to go home and see my husband before he leaves for work tonight. Early morning shake

There was some shaking going on in my bedroom this morning! And my husband was still at work so it wasn?t any thing fun.. he he he. It was a freaking earth quake! It was the strangest thing. Just after 4:30 am some thing woke me and I felt my bed shake. It was kind of like a small vibration coming from under my bed. Being asleep I thought it was Roxy, even though she sleeps down stairs. I started to fall back asleep and it happened again. I got up looked around and went to the bathroom. Must have been a dream. Or a really big truck going down our street or some thing? Not even 5:00am yet I laid back down for a while. When I got up for the day I forgot all about it until I heard on the radio that around 4:30 am we had a small earth quake rattle us here in Michigan. Freaky !  We don?t have earth quakes around here. It?s been some thing like 20 years.

Tax day stress

Well, I came home from work and signed the tax papers, the checks and stuffed the envelopes, stood in line at the post office and handed them over. Now, as I lay here in bed all I can think of is how fast I stuffed them. OH GOD DID I ADDRESS THEM RIGHT?  I HOPE I DIDN?T MIX UP THE ENVELOPES? Okay, I am just being crazy and stressing myself out for no reason and if I did stuff them wrong, it?s too late now anyway.

I heard from Allison and my mom. Sounds like they are having a blast! They?ve been out doing a lot of sight seeing and have already been to Buckingham Palace and spent the day in Oxford and enjoyed fish & chips at a pub near the water. Tomorrow is their day in France. I sure hope they have nice weather. Here is a photo I found in my email this morning of Allison during their visit to Oxford University, and outside the pub with her new friend Morgan. I can?t wait to hear all about Paris.

My parents had to say goodbye to their beautiful golden retriever this morning. She had to be about the nicest dog I have ever known. So good and patient with all of the kids. She was part of our family for a long time and will be missed.

My weekend so far

It?s been a pretty nice weekend so far. I had the best visit with Rebecca Friday night and Saturday morning. She is such a happy and sweet baby, just a joy to be around. I even had the chance to dress her up all pretty for a party before she left. Of course I took way too may pictures and posted them on my Flickr page. Yesterday I saw my husband for more then ten minutes for the first time all week. I am so not a fan of him working 6:00pm to 6:00am ! I?ll be glad when he?s back on days but not as glad as he will be I am sure. Poor guy looks so tired. Today I plan to finish up all of our laundry and do some house work. Exciting I know but our bedroom is in serious need of some cleaning. It?s been way too easy to just close the door and forget about it lately. I am going to try and fit in some movie watching this afternoon. I have this one on my DVR from last night.  If I do, I?ll be posting about it here.
