Mothers Day memories

Now that I have two daughters and a grand daughter it?s important to me that we make some wonderful mother?s day memories together. My whole childhood I can remember spending every mother?s day with my mom and my grandma. Every year we would go out to breakfast or lunch or even an early dinner. Some times we fit in a movie or depending on the weather a visit to a nice park. I can remember my mom always had flowers on the table that day. I am guessing from my older sister or brother or maybe my dad sent them every year . From what I saw each time, the card only read happy mother?s day. No matter who sent them, they sure made her smile and they added a nice brightness to our dinning room. I ended up putting off my quiet and relaxing time one more day and I picking up Rebecca for the night. I picked her up just in time to feed her dinner and fit in some play time before she started rubbing her eyes for bed. Rocking her to sleep tonight was the best way to end my day. I look at her and some times I just can?t believe how much I love her. She is just the sweetest little thing. Need evidence of her sweetness? Settling in

I heard from my mom yesterday to let me know they arrived safely and were settling in. Allison was already out side playing with her new little friend. Sounded like they were already having a great time.  I am so glad !!!  I have been way too busy to really miss her already but I have to admit it is a strange feeling when I get up for work and think about her being so far away and not in her bed.

I am so, so glad it?s Friday! I am seriously messed up today, I am so tired. I have been running around and awake way too late too many evenings in a row. I had such a hard time getting ready for work this morning. I think my eyes were more closed then open while I was blow drying my hair. So to say I am having a ?bad hair day? is an understatement. This weekend and up coming week alone is all about relaxation! While Gerry works nights and Allison is gone I plan to rent chick flicks and take very long hot baths. Camp out on our nice new big bed with my laptop and some yummy snacks and a glass of wine. R E L A X A T I O N !

Airport stress

I haven?t been blogging much the last few days so I could spend every moment I could with Allison before her trip. She even slept in our bed last night while her dad worked the late shift. Four hours ago Gerry and I took her and my parents to the airport. Passed out hugs and kisses and big smiles. Going to Europe is going to be such a great experience for her ! IF they get there!  I got a call about an hour ago from my step dad to let me know their flight to Chicago was delayed because of bad weather. That means they are going to miss their connecting flight to London. He is suppose to call me back as soon as he knows something. I feel so bad. I hate it that they are still sitting here in Detroit waiting for a new connecting flight. It can?t be easy with an eight year old. I hope they call soon with good news. Update - I heard back around 10:00 pm that they were rushed on to another connecting flight to Philadelphia and then to London. Putting them only ten minutes later of...

Double Feature Fun Night

Allison and my nephew took over the living room last night for a double feature family fun night. Two family movies, two kids, two sleeping bags, two pizzas, a couple dozen Webkinz and whole lot of fun. The kids seemed to really have a good time. First we watched Enchanted. I LOVED it ! We all agreed it was a very good movie. Both the kids told me how much they liked it, more then once. I guess it is one I?ll be adding to our collection. Then we put in Water Horse. Being as old as I am, I saw maybe ten minutes of this movie and was out like a light. I woke a few times and both kids had their eyes glued to the movie. That tells me it must have been pretty good. I just asked over breakfast and both movies got two really big thumbs up from these two. I guess our double feature was a success.

Three lazy hours

Cold rainy afternoons make me lazy. I just watched three hours of One Tree Hill reruns with out getting up off the couch other then to refill my glass of Diet Coke. I feel like I have lead in my butt, I mean I could really take a nice nap about now. If only I had the time. Allison should be walking in the door from school in the next twenty minutes and then we are picking up my nephew for a night of movies, popcorn and Wii playing. Should be a fun night. I guess I better get ready and get my lead butt in gear.

Unexpected day off

Our shop has been so slow that we had to shut things down today. Which really sucks but on the flip side for me I was able to take Allison to her bus stop and then get all kinds of errands done for her trip. I went to the credit union, grocery shopping, the post office, AAA to pick up Allison?s travel Visa for her spending money, I even had time to stop and play with my granddaughter for an hour. Now I am back home, back in my pj bottoms and on the couch with my hound, my laptop and a bowl of Pasta Roni, watching old episodes of One Tree Hill and it?s only noon. Yay me !

This is so cool ! Check out this Channel Island web site that is streaming live video of a Bold Eagle ?s nest. The baby was hatched yesterday. Allison and I just saw the little guy sitting with what we think is the mommy. It?s pretty fascinating to see. Boy the internet is an amazing thing.

S is for Sunday & Sisters

Yesterday I spent the day with my step sister and her daughter. They live a good distance away so we don?t see each other very often. So when we do I really enjoy it. First all three of us sisters went to noon mass with the kids and their husbands. Mine is the only one who wants nothing to do with that. Then my step sister and I took our daughters out for a little shopping, hair cuts and late lunch. The girls hair cuts didn?t go as well as we had hoped. Note - lesson learned about a walk in cheap hair place! I believe both girls will be getting a touch up cut real soon. We had lunch at Allison?s favorite local place, The Crazy Parrot where the girls were able to eat their lunch and drink their chocolate milk from a coconut shell and then dance like crazy on the dance floor. It was such a good time.

We are hanging out at my sister?s house tonight. Enjoying a few cocktails and good company. The men are in the ?man cave? playing their PS3?s, the kids are in the basement watching movies and my sister and I are hanging in the kitchen on line and chatting. It?s a much needed night of laughing and stress relief for me.

It?s really quiet and slow again today. Most Friday?s have been like this for the past six months. It?s really very sad. I work for a third generation small auto supply company. They have been in business over 65 years. This once was a booming place. Even when I started a few years ago, we had more then four times the orders coming in daily then we do now. These days the big auto makers would rather place their orders with an over seas company at less then a third the price we can make the part for even over ordering their parts by hundreds and then just weeding out the ?not so good? parts. Instead of ordering here, where we make it right the first time and stand behind it for years of use. Note, we have held the same prices for the ?big three? auto makers for years. I have decided to ride this job out the best I can. Out of the dozen employees that are here my job of answering the phone and quoting and processing jobs would be one of the very last to go. More Movie watching

I surprised my husband over the weekend with a pizza and beer night, complete with a couple of manly movie rentals. I picked up 30 Days of Night and Chaos. Chaos was nothing I thought it was. Even though we both enjoyed it, I expected high action and more things being blown up. Still, not really a bad movie. It had a few good twists and turns in the story and Jason Statham and Ryan Phillippe were both worth the time. Now, 30 Days of Night is another story. It was pretty good. Better then I expected. Lots of action and suspense, blood and gore. Some scenes were gross enough for me to hide my face but I still thought the movie was a lot of fun.

If you know me or have been reading my blog for a while then you already know how much I love music. All kinds of music from classic rock to hip hop and rap. Rap being my most listen to these days. I listen to music mostly when I am on line, at night, closed in my bedroom, with a drink on my desk. Finding and downloading music by the best rappers is my latest guilty pleasure. It?s my ?me? time.  http://www.rapartists.com is a great new website. It?s one I quickly added to my favorites and will be visiting often. I like it that the home page has a featured artist and lists of new releases and up coming albums. Maybe now I can finally match up an few songs to the artist?s that I have been looking for. Even the design of this web site is really cool, featuring my boys Snoop and Ice Cube on the banner. I couldn?t have chosen any better my self.

Easter Sunday

I hope everyone had as nice of an Easter Sunday as we did. We had a full house for breakfast and a nice dinner at my mother?s. The girls were spoiled rotten by the Easter Bunny, I am sure Allison will be on a sugar buzz for the next month or two. It was a great day. Wild snowy morning

I was up early this morning cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry. Ya, I am wild like that on a three day weekend. I am not much of sleeper so just not leaving the house at the butt crack of dawn is a treat to me. At noon today I have a hair appointment for a cut and color. Don?t think I am making any changes this time just a trim. Again, I am that wild!  But first, I?ll be digging out my car from all the yucky snow we got last night, three to five inches. I am so over winter! Does Mother Nature not know it is now spring? WTF?
