Bible Fight
2007-05-12 06:54:00
I found this link on a friend's website. It's a fun little game in which different Bible characters... fight. Every character has some special unique things only they can do. Noah, for example, will occasionally use the help of all the animals on the ark with him; Mary will throw a rosary at her opponent, etc. Anyway, check it out. It's fun!

YHWH

When Moses asks [God's] name and credentials, Yahweh replies with a pun which, as we shall see, would exercise monotheism for centuries. Instead of revealing his name directly, he answers "I Am Who I Am (Ehyeh asher ehyeh)." What did he mean? He certainly did not mean, as later philosophers would assert, that he was self-subsistent Being. Hebrew did not have such a metaphysical dimension at this stage, and it would be nearly 2000 years before it acquired one. God seems to have meant something rather more direct. Ehyeh asher ehyeh is a Hebrew idiom to express a deliberate vagueness. When the Bible uses a phrase like "they went where they went," it means: "I haven't the faintest idea where they went." So when Moses asks who he is, God replies in effect: "Never you mind who I am!" or "Mind your own business!" There was to be no discussion of God's nature and certainly no attempt to manipulate him as pagans sometimes did when they recited the names of their gods. (21-22)-- Armstrong,...

You scored as Roman Catholic. You are Roman Catholic. Church tradition and ecclesial authority are hugely important, and the most important part of worship for you is mass. As the Mother of God, Mary is important in your theology, and as the communion of saints includes the living and the dead, you can also ask the saints to intercede for you.Roman Catholic68%Emergent/Postmodern64%Evangeli cal Holiness/Wesleyan54%Neo orthodox50%Modern Liberal46%Classical Liberal36%Charismatic/Pentecostal25%Refor med Evangelical0%Fundamentalist0%What's your theological worldview?created with QuizFarm.com

To answer the questions of those who commented on my last entry, I will be in Denver most of the time. At some point, I will also go to Oklahoma. For now, visiting Kansas is not in my plans.

Sleep

I haven't been sleeping well for the last five nights. It's driving me nuts. Literally. I run into things and I say dumb things and then laugh for a long time. I think that I may actually be slowly turning into the lady whom I mentioned in my last entry. So, this morning when I woke up at 4 am, I was reading some Mitch Hedberg. Here's what he has to say about insomnia: "If you can't sleep, count sheep. Don't count endangered animals. You will run out."

Girl?
2007-04-24 05:48:00
A homeless-looking woman came into our church service on Sunday. This is not unusual since we rent the Klaipeda "Salvation Army" building for church, and often a homeless person will wander in and stay for the service and the tea afterwards. As someone put it, the woman was sort of together and sort of not. She would react to what people were saying to her, and the next minute she would start rambling about something and saying all kind of nonsense. But, apparently, whatever she was saying or imagining was really cool 'cause she kept laughing the entire time. Man, I wish I could tell myself something to even make me smile these days!..Anyway, I get very uncomfortable with these sorts of people. I really care about them and I'm sorry they have ended up as alcoholics or drug-addicts, but I never know how to act around them. She seemed to know how to interact with the people at church pretty well, though. As one of the families were leaving, she asked if the baby was a boy or a girl....

Rich
2007-04-11 09:34:00
Good news: I'm rich. Well, at least according to my school's financial services director. They took away a large part of my scholarship although they had promised that the maximum decrease would not exceed a certain amount. When I asked them how that happened, I received the following LAME reply: "In the meeting we also said that we will be reevaluating financial need. In your case financial need is 0 Lt." Awesome! Who knew--my financial need is 0 Lt!Mood: sarcastic and angry.
