Meet Sparky!

Sparky was a stray, who had terrible mange. With treatment, his skin is now free of mites, but his adopters returned him because he does not like their other dog, and needs more training than they can provide.Sparky is 2- 4 years old and is neutered, and is in need of a home where his owners will learn to train him to have good manners. He cannot be placed with other dogs, children or cats, and a fenced-in yard with adopters with breed experience will be given preference. Meet Murphy!

Murphy, a Pomeranian, Chihuahua mix, was found running the street and was posted in the paper and signs put up everywhere to no avail. They finally found the person that had owned him and it turned out Murphy had been stolen six months earlier. So now Murphy is looking for yet another home. Murphy has a wonderful temperament and seems to have been taken care of by someone.Currently, Murphy is being cared for by P.A.W.S. - Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Meet Budda!

Budda is a very sweet and gentle-natured Rottweiler. He would love nothing more than to sit by your side and have you pet the top of his head all day long. But when he is not getting loved on, he loves to romp in the yard with his doggie toys.Budda is currently being taken care of by The Woodford Humane Society. They are a non-profit animal advocacy group in Versailles, Kentucky. They serve as the shelter to all the homeless, unwanted, unloved animals in Woodford County, and also accept animals from surrounding counties and even other states.Among the services that the Woodford Humane Society provides is education about animal welfare and low-cost spay/neuter services. Several events have been sponsored by this Adoption Center over the years including many offsite Adoption Events and our Annual Freedom Fest event. Ernie, the cute pup featured in our logo is still looking for a home!Is he cute, or what? Ernie, a young Straffordshire Bull Terrier, is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle! His foster mom says he has quite the delightful personality. He's happy, but not hyper, and gets along great with non-alpha dogs and cats too!He would do best in a home without small children. Like many big dogs, he may bump a little kiddo over without meaning to. He will need a fenced yard.Ernie loves to go for walks, and walks well on a leash - even on the busy Monon Trail! He's crate trained and housebroken. He sleeps in his crate at night, but can be left alone without being crated during the day. Ernie likes the two cats that live with him. Meet Gilligan!

Gilligan is a two year old, lemon and white, male English Pointer. He was turned over to a shelter in Texas by his original owner because he would not hunt. It was stated Gilligan is "too nice to hunt".An owner surrender into a high kill shelter is usually very bad news for a dog. But not for Gilligan! A wonderful lady saw Gilligan and was dedicated to getting him a second chance. He was pulled from the shelter and brought to OnPoint Rescue at a chance for him to find a home with a family that understands Pointers are more than just "hunting dogs".Mr. Gilligan is beginning to settle in to his new foster home. Meet Lily!

Lily (born in 2002) is a sad bi-product of a nasty divorce. For four years, the girl lived protected from the "outside world"...she never went to the beach, dog park or to visit relatives. Beyond going to vet when needed, she enjoyed cuddling on sofa with the family and backyard play time.Sweet, pretty Lily is healthy, housebroken, playful, great with people and other Labs (either sex) but shy with everything "new". It takes a little time for her to relax and display the adorable Labrador temperament and love of life, living to please her human. Lily can't go to "the city" but will do well in a suburban environment, enjoying yard play and relaxing leash walks around the neighborhood, beach and park.Lily is currently being cared for by Long Island Labrador Retriever Rescue in New York. Meet Kenyon!

As part of our series this week for National Dog Week and National Deaf Awareness Week - we would like you to meet Kenyon!Kenyon is a young (4-5 years old), blue double merle Australian Shepherd. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Georgia where she had just weaned a litter of pups. Kenyon is a loving soul and although she has sight impairment, she does fantastic once she learns her surroundings. She is also deaf, but is learning touch signals very quickly!Kenyon is incredibly sweet, and very intelligent. Kenyon is crate and house trained, and has not had a single accident in the house since her Foster Mom has had her. She goes to the door and politely “asks” to go outside. Kenyon is relatively quiet, too. She has only barked a couple of times and that was when she was playing with her foster brothers and sisters. As part of our series this week for National Dog Week and National Deaf Awareness Week - we would like you to meet Bonn ie !18-month-old Bonnie was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia the day before she was to be euthanized. When she arrived in her foster home, she was an adolescent cattle dog with no training whatsoever. She bounced off the walls, the cabinets, and the people in the home. She is now turning into a wonderful little dog.Bonnie is very smart and learns quickly. She has learned the signs for sit and down and is picking up more each day. He has already learned some touch commands, and he picked them up in just a few minutes. He can sit, lie down and come when you stomp your foot on the floor. He walks perfectly on the leash. He's so smart, he could be on TV! Nine-week-old Amira is current on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and has been given flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Meet Penny Lover!

Penny Lover is a beautiful little pug girl. She is quite a character, fun loving and happy all the time. She is not much of a barker and gets along well with other animals including cats. She is looking for a new home as her previous owner couldn't keep her any longer. Penny Lover is a five month old puppy, pretty well housebroken and up to date on shots. She is looking for a forever home this time. She is on the small side and will be smaller as an adult than your average pug dog.She is currently being cared for by Limberlost Animal Rehoming Cause in Berlin, Wisconsin. They are a dog rescue started to help the retired breeder dogs that come out of large commercial kennels. These dogs are either sold unaltered at auction , in the newspaper or put down when the breeders are done with them. As long as a dog is not spayed or neutered. Baja is a shepherd/collie mix, about 8 weeks old. He is neutered and currently being cared for by the folks at Animal House Shelter in Hutley, Illinois. Animal House is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), No-Kill shelter for all breeds of dogs and cats.They have been open since June 2002 and have rescued, rehabilitated and adopted out over 7,000 dogs and cats to this date! This sweet little girl just wants someone to love her. Maddie was picked up as a stray in Alabama. She looks like she's just had puppies recently. Even though she hasn't been treated very well, she has a wonderful temperament. She ignores other dogs and cats and she loves people. She's just a sweetheart. Maddie is a black brushcoat female, approximately 3 years old. She's a tiny little thing, only 35 lbs. She has heartworm disease and will begin treatment on September 14, so she won't be ready for adoption for at least 8 weeks. Clifford was found roaming the streets of Hilliard, Ohio last August.He was so thin and had a bad case of worms and fleas. He is do wonderfully now having put on weight & gained a sense of security. Harry Potter is 6 1/2 year old, English Setter. He is good with other dogs UTD on routine shows and has been neutered. He is an owner/foster surrender who is currently being cared for by Happy Tails Humane in Franklin, Tennessee.Happy Tales Humane was founded in 1996 to provide the area with an animal shelter that does not use euthanasia to make room for additional animals. HTH operated as a “virtual shelter,” housing all animals in dedicated foster homes, until 2000 when a shelter for the cats was opened in The Factory at Franklin. All of the dogs in HTH’s adoption program are still kept in foster homes, though the goal is to one day open a shelter where both cats and dogs can be housed on-site. Patrick needed some surgery to removed some benign polyps, but he is absolutely fine now and ready for adoption. He is a friendly, happy and typically curious Shih Tzu, and fits right into his foster home. He loves to run in the backyard, and take car rides.Patrick is currently being cared for by the Animal Placement Bureau in Lansing, Michigan. The Animal Placement Bureau is a volunteer foster care network with no paid staff and no sheltering facility. Perry is part of a litter from a farm with too many dogs. He was born about 7/14/07 and is now 8 weeks old and ready to find himself a home able to give him some attention.These fuzzy pups are an unknown mix that seem to grow to about 55 pounds. Grandmother appears to be a white husky. The rest of the dogs are long haired shades of white, cream, and light gold. Joey is a male Pomeranian - possibly mix who is around 9 years old. He was turned into the shelter with Sapper when their family was deployed overseas. It was obvious his world had been turned upside down, as he looked terrified even with his best friend at his side. Joey loves going anywhere in the car, and will roll over as you walk by him for a belly rub.He does well with other dogs and loves children.
