I was going to give Anja and Smokey a bath today seeing that it was a sunny morning here and and sun was shining nicely at the balcony where they would dry off eventually.Alas that was not the case. I was called to "work" by hubby who wanted install a new PBX phone system at his office. He was wondering if I could do some research online to see what the market got to offer and make some calls in the process for quotation. It's a new year!
2007-12-28 19:26:00 The start of a new year is always a good point to start something new. Although I'm not one to make any form of formal resolution, I tend to have objectives that I try to fulfill for the coming year. Things like thrifty living .We keep our monthly expenses in an accounting software and as such it is easy to see where our finances have gone to. For example, this year we spent a lot more on our kitties than the year before. Both Mufasa and Nina were sick and had to be warded in the animal hospital and then there was the extra supplements I bought for Byte when he was not eating well.Unexpected incidences like that really put our finances in chaos. We never planned for them and as such got to make use of our credit cards to finance those bills. It was not easy to pay them back plus all those interest rate that keep accumulating coz you only make the minimum payment monthly but fortunately we were able to after juggling with some funds that unexpectedly turned up. Don't Let the Bed bugs Bites
2007-12-27 16:58:00 We have cats and if you are not careful, you'll end up with ticks, fleas and even bugs. That is why, we use this special flea treatment on all our cats and sometimes you will even spot them with anti-flea collar. I remember when we had an episode with fleas once, all because we brought home a stray and that because of that all our cats had fleas as well. So awful. An Expensive Affair
2007-12-24 21:46:00 Having cats is an expensive affair nowadays. Just today we bought our six kitties their food supply which is Science Diet for Mature Cats that cost like RM116 for ten kilos (one month supply) and their litter bin pellet which cost RM33 (for two weeks supply). Then of course, there's their shampoo and conditioner, their vitamins supplements and treats!. Yes, I admit there are a bit pampered but what can I say.. we like spoiling them...lolzz.Then you guys know about Nina illness right. Thank God, she is ok now but that was a hefty amount we spent on her. No doubt you can't put value to health but it would be handy if we had access to the kind of payday loan that they have over in the States. This kind of loan would be useful for emergency like the one we encountered and it is so easy to apply as you can do it online and it's fast too!Oh well, I guess we just have to make do with what we had. A Cat Rack?

Then it got me curious as to what it actually was. So I researched it and found that it was actually a rack meant to store long and heavy loads like timber, steel, copper pipes and plastic. It seems there's this company called Wickens that produces this kind of rack in the UK especially for this purpose. It was raining heavily and as usual around here, when it rains, there would probably be a power outage and when that happens all the road lights will go out and the roads will get pitch dark. Then suddenly, I heard this "Bang". We did not know where it came from but it sounded really near to us. Our first thought was "Darn, someone hit us" but upon looking intently, we realized the accident was on the other side of the road. As there was nothing we could do anyway and with Nina at the back seat, we decided it was best to get home as soon as possible.This morning, upon reading the papers, we found out that the accident was a really bad one. The car actually hit the light pole causing it to crash on another car. It seems the driver was drunk and driving. Nina's Latest Update
2007-12-15 12:09:00 We had another vet appointment for Nina on last Thursday, 13 November 2007. We had a good feeling about this appointment as Nina has been progressing so well. She is eating and drinking well, her visits to the litter bin are now normal and she's more active. So we were not surprised at all when the vet told us that Nina had gain 400grams from the last visit two weeks ago. Alhamdullilah :-)However, the vet still wanted to take a urine culture. Now the next process had us really off guard. The vet told us to place Nina on her back exposing her tummy, then the vet pull some skin, identify where her bladder was and POKE in a needle into that area. Yikes.. we were not expecting that. We don't know what to expect when she said take urine sample, but we were definitely not expecting that! Poor Nina! But she was very calm, in fact she did not move an inch when the needle went in or out. Good girl Nina!All it was all over. The vet will send the urine sample for test and let us know in five... Is there Insurance Policy for Pets?
2007-12-12 17:46:00 After the bout with Nina's medical situation, it sets us thinking that perhaps we should start an emergency medical fund for our six aging kitties. Medical cost is running up the roof even for pets. We always knew that Mufasa was old but I can still remember helping Puteri (may God rest her soul) with the deliveries of Minnie, Nina, Anja and Aggie. That seemed only yesterday but the reality is they are all in their 6th year and up with us and in cat's years, that's pretty old.Wouldn't it be great if there was an insurance policy that cover chronic diseases for pets as well? You know like the kind of cheap insurance you can get for human being. I mean, cats get sick too and sometimes need tests conducted, surgeries to go through and even expensive medications to buy. Can the furniture survive?

She has gained weight over these fourteen days and have been very good with taking medicine that we are confident that the doctor will give her a clean bill of health tomorrow.
