Oscar the Cat- Can he really sense death??
2007-08-30 04:20:00 Oscar is a two year old cat that resides at a nursing home in Providence, R.I. But he is no ordinary cat. According to an essay submitted to The New England Journal of Medicine written by David M. Dosa, MD, MPH, a geriatrician who cares for patients at the nursing home, Oscar can sense death is near!He would always show up two to even three hours earlier when he senses it it time for the patient to go and curl up at the patient's bed as if providing comfort during those last few hours. He had done this about 25 times and never been wrong. His actions now even serve as an alert for staff to notify next-of-kins so that they can come and say their goodbyes. No one knows how he does it but he just does. Ain't is nice to hear of something so amazing. You can watch the video here of Oscar the Amazing CatPicture credit: CBSNews.com More About: Sense , Oscar , Death , Ally
Missing those we love
2007-07-23 13:15:00 I called my mom today and she told me that ever since Byte's passing, Baby (my mom's other cat) was always screaming (loud meowing). If before whenever he does that, Byte would come and nuzzle him and that would somehow consoled and calmed him down. Now, Byte is gone and he is left all alone. My mom would carry him, look into his eyes, consoled him and explained to him that Byte is gone. He, in turn would look at my mom's face seeming to understand but yet not really comprehending. My mom, on her end, still sees Byte everywhere. He used to sleep with her and always perched on her shoulder while she's watching tv. Now, there's only emptiness where he used to lay.Missi ng someone, be it human or pet, is always so difficult. It is really a test for us still living. Till now, I still see Lornie and still miss all those that have left me before. It does not get easier with time..... More About: Love
Byte has passed on
2007-07-17 12:52:00 Another sad event happened to our family. My mom's cat, Byte , passed away peacefully on Monday, 16 July 2007. He was fighting with elementary lymphocyte. In our term that would be cancer in the stomach. It came on quite suddenly actually. He stopped eating and just started to become very weak. My mom brought him to the vet about a month ago and the vet mentioned that it might be cancer but was unable to confirm it without a biopsy. He prescribed some antibiotics and Byte was to see him in 10days time.Byte responded very well to the medication. He was able to walk again and he started eating. Boy, did he start to eat. He would meow for his food everytime he sees my mom awake and my mom being my mom, would give him anything he wants. So we were all very happy. 10 days came and I went down to Singapore to see the vet together with my mom. We were very excited to tell the vet that that Byte was once again well and thank him profusely. However, there was only bad news. Accordingly to th...

Aggie at the Vet
2007-05-18 09:04:00 Aggie was not feeling well last week so we brought her to the clinic over at the Veterinarian Center in Cheras. It was a quite a traumatic experience for her because that day happened to be pre-med student's day and the examination room was filled with students. She was wiggling about as they took her temperature and the thermometer keep popping out and she got irritated each time it went back in.She settled down after I pacified her so the vet managed to finally take her temperature which was 38.9 degrees Celsius! As we waited for the vet to get all the injections ready, I carried her in my arms and she calmed down. The first injection caught her unaware and it was at her hind legs so that went pretty easy. The second one, she was more alert and as this one got to be given somewhere on her body, it did not sit well with her at all. As you know she is the 'eater' of the house, which means she is 'quite' fat and has plenty of flesh. (lol).. so the doctor had a difficult time find...
