Of Mob and Un-valentines........
2008-02-18 14:26:00 Right, where were we? Oh yes ok, so I am now off to the Ladies only Bloggers Un-valentine party but first I must make a pitstop at Woolies for some finger foods to take with as there was just no time for me to still make a plate of nibbly bits to take with. I bought some samoosa's and chicken liver pate with some biscuits and zoomed off down the road as I was running a bit late but I had sms'd to say I was 15 minutes late. Thankfully the party was in my area so it was about 5 minutes away. After a wrong turn or 2 I finally arrived. And there she was, Lornagh met me outside with Meezie whose house it was. Inside was Sponty who together with Lornagh I had met before.. And also Lonely Mom who I hadn't met yet. HL and Pops were introduced to us and our glasses were kept filled to the brim the entire evening. The Apple Sours even made an appearance and as the evening wore on the longer tot glasses came out too. Damn that stuff is sour!! But yummy. We had a f... More About: Valentines
Of new homes.......
2008-02-18 11:05:00 Good morning all, My weekend of work, work, work started for me on Friday when I got home and had to start "converting" my garage into a "cat's room"! Three and a half hours later, my job was done and I was thinking of moving into the garage myself, I had done such a good job of it! This is what it looks like: Ok so with the garage all nicely cleaned out and carpeted, it was now time to try and catch the little buggers to get them IN THERE! Right.. pet voyager in hand with lovely smelling fish (lovely smelling to cats that is) in said pet voyager I was armed and dangerous. Into the room I went and placed my "trap" just next to the bed. With me laying low on the base (remember the mattress is still outside!) so that the cats can't spot me, I lay in wait for my first victim... Little Pumpkin (the runt who has a face like a Halloween pumpkin) was the first to fall for my trick. In she went and the door was swiftly closed behind h... More About: New Homes , Homes
Of feral cats and blogging....
2008-02-17 22:33:00 Hi All,I have not been in Blogland at all this weekend as my little furry critters have been keeping me extremely busy and it's far too long to post about so I will update everyone and post some pics of their "new home" tomorrow.I just want to say thank you to EVERYONE who clinked on my blog and also thank you for all the congratulation messages. I am going to try and visit you all this evening but if I don't get to you tonight I will get there tomorrow.I went to a MOB Un-Valentine party on Saturday night and it was so great to get out and let my hair down a bit but you will have to wait until tomorrow for details on that one too. I met 2 new bloggers! I laughed until my jaw was aching and left at about 1 AM and only because the wine was starting to wear off and I couldn't sit any longer!Well, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and I will see you all tomorrow. Son A took this great pic of Bacardi with his new phone (such a bragger) which has a 5 megapixel camera! Don't you ju... More About: Cats , Blogging
Your Friday Story.....
2008-02-15 13:31:00 Before I post today's Friday Story I need to clarify something.Friday stories are not always my own, I get mailed a Friday Story by a gentleman by the name of Bob Proctor from the movie The Secret. If it's good I post it and if it's not inspiring enough, I post my own. Here is today's one that has just landed in my inbox: Words Are Weapons With four young daughters, 14 and under, I frequently find myself correcting, disciplining, or simply protesting unnecessary and unkind comments certain to anger or wound a sister and evoke counterattacks that fill the air with nastiness. Hoping to get them to think before they speak in the future, I often ask, "What did you expect to accomplish by that remark?" and "Did it make things better or worse?" It disappoints and frustrates me that my children are so often unkind to one another and so quick to make foolish comments that have no constructive purpose. Yet it's even more troublesome when adults engage in the same senseless beh...
Of pee and feral cats......
2008-02-15 08:48:00 Good morning all you lovely bloggers!Last night I wrote a post that took me hours to do as I had to do all the links and my internet connection for some reason was EXTREMELY slow and it took me AGES to upload all the pictures. I was also chatting to some lovely blogger friends on MSN and eventually I realised that it was almost 10PM and I was taking a bit of strain from having sat at the pc for so long (Damn this blogging is addictive!)I still had to make sarmies for lunch and wash my hair but first I thought I would check on the furry kids.Did I get a shock! 2 Cats had pee'd on my bed!!! Not just a little pee let me tell you, it was like they had kept it in the entire day! So here I was ripping sheets and comforters off the bed and switching on the washing machine, if you don't wash it straight away as other cat owners will know you will never get rid of the smell.Right so, comforter and sheets in the washing machine, 3 BIG scoops of washing powder later, I was now...

Handing back the whip.....
2008-02-14 12:43:00 A while back DT gave me her whip so that I could whip some ass! And now I think that there is someone (could it be Pmbman?) here in Blogland that is looking for a whipping and so the time has come for me to hand it back again. First a bit of background: The word whip describes two basic types of tools: A long stick-like device, usually slightly flexible, with a small bit of leather or cord, called a "popper", on the end. Depending on length and flexibility, this type is often called a riding whip, riding crop or "bat". It is also sometimes called a "horsewhip" or "horse whip". As well as these traditional whip types designed for use on animals, there are whip designs that had historic uses for inflicting pain on humans, such as the "cat o' nine tails" and others. These devices are used as flogging instruments, a means of control, corporal punishment or torture. In politics, a whip is a member of a political party in a legislature whose task is to ensure that members of the... More About: Back , Whip , The Whip

Never forgotten.....
2008-01-29 14:37:00 Hello My name is Tallulah and I was my Human Mom's favourite cat. She also rescued me from the same factory as Bacardi and Miaghi came from. You can read about my story here. I was the cat that was meant to be a foster, a visitor, call it what you like. I made sure that I wormed my way into my new Mommy's heart very quickly and in no time my plan had worked and she had decided to keep me. I will never forget the day that I got run over. It was so hard for me to look down from. you know the place us cats go when we pass on and see my Human sobbing and sobbing when she gently picked me up out of the road and carried me into the back garden to be buried. I remember how she gently wrapped me in my favourite blanket all the while talking gently to me and telling me how much she loved me. She wrapped me up, gave me a kiss and put me into a box (nogal her Steam Butler box, nice touch Mom). I am buried in the corner of the garden and sometimes my Human still co... More About: Forgotten
Political correctness..........
2008-01-29 10:48:00 In the state of political correctness, nobody is a "liar" they are simply "verbally superfluous". No one is a "housekeeper," they are "domestic engineers." See how we can apply this "game" to the many activities of our cats: My cat does not barf hairballs, he is a floor/rug redecorator. My cat does not break things, she helps gravity do its job. My cat does not fear dogs, they are merely sprint practice tools. My cat does not gobble, she eats with alacrity. My cat does not scratch, he is a furniture/rug/skin ventilator. My cat does not yowl, he is singing off-key. My cat is not a "shedding machine", she is a hair relocation stylist. My cat is not a "treat-seeking missile," she enjoys the proximity of food. My cat is not a bed hog, he is a mattress appreciator. My cat is not a chatterbox, she is advising me on what to do next. My cat is not a dope addict, she is catnip appreciative. Persistence!
2008-01-28 13:08:00 There is no substitute for persistence! It cannot be supplanted by any other quality! Remember this in the beginning and it will hearten you when the going may seem difficult and slow. Those who have cultivated the habit of persistence seem to enjoy insurance against failure. No matter how many times they are defeated, they finally arrive up near the top of the ladder. Sometimes it appears there is a hidden guide whose duty is to test people through all sorts of discouraging experiences. Those who pick themselves up after defeat and keep on trying arrive; and the world cries, "Bravo! I knew you could do it!" The hidden guide lets no one enjoy great achievement without passing the persistence test. Those who can't take it simply do not make the grade.. Those who can "take it" are bountifully rewarded for their persistence. They receive, as their compensation, whatever goal they are pursuing. Napoleon Hill More About: Persistence

Fostering........ again.....
2008-01-27 13:29:00 Hello there, My name is Bacardi and I am actually The Human's FIRST feral rescue. Typical Magoo thinking she is always first! Ok, ok yes she was the first rescue but then again so I am! You can read about MY rescue here. Anyway my Human is waiting patiently (or actually the carpet is bare from the pacing already so that's debatable) for her brother to arrive (Not Daryl, the other brother) so that they can finish putting up the Cat Contraption. I personally don't really like "going over the wall" myself, I like to stand at the front door and give my Human "THE LOOK". My "look" has been practiced and perfected by me over the last 3 years so I am really good at it. Also the Human gives me 5 minutes and tells me I must be back when my time is up. I am always back by the end of the 5 minutes and I never go in the road since Tallulah died. Am I responsible or what? Its Jake the Terrible that gives my Human heart failure, I am sure you all know about the New Year's Eve fiasco. I som...

MY Human
2008-01-26 12:20:00 Good morning all,I am writing this on behalf of my human who has lots to do today....I hope you had a fabulous night here in Blogland. I was astounded last night when before 10PM my human's head already started nodding. By 11.30 she was toast and ambled off to bed. Was sleep before her head hit the pillow. Had a bit of a hard week poor Human and still found time to give us lot some love....Oh I am so rude, let me introduce myself. I am Magoo, I am also known as bitch biker cat because I control this household and the other lot as my human calls them. No one messes with me, not even the Rottweiler who sadly passed on and left me with no one bigger than me to torment! Oh I miss those days of whacking him on the snout, some days I could even manage to whack hard enough so as to draw some blood..... yes I know very evil but as I said I am bitch biker cat.I am not really a people cat, I much prefer other cats. I was abused by humans before my one and only Human rescued me...... I t...

Positive vibes........
2008-01-25 16:49:00 I have fantastic news!I just had a smoke break with the boss who was extremely pale this morning when I was advising all the staff of their rights......I would seem that I am safe for now....I am not sure of any details and I hope that he is not trying to sweeten me up but that's what he said!It must have been all the prayers and positive vibes coupled together with the fact that I am clearly not going to go without a fight....Obviously I cannot put too many details here for fear of "blowing my cover". There are others who are going to go but for now they will keep a minimum staff complement and it would seem that I am included in that. Thanks once again for all the prayers, angels, positive thoughts and vibes....... clearly SOMETHING has worked! The company is still going to close down but at least now there is some breathing room for the few that will be left.I really feel for the rest though who were silly enough to sign that piece of paper. So I ask now that you send positive tho... More About: Vibes , Positive , Vibe
Quick Update.....
2008-01-25 15:51:00 Hi All,Once again I cannot thank you enough for the fantastic support that I have got from all of you.The way that things stand at the moment is as follows:A voting paper was sent around this morning for us to sign. Instead of an anonymous vote though you had to put your name and ID Number on the document (intimidation at its finest). Most people just wanted to go ahead and sign.... Cat_Woman to the rescue (thanks to all DT's input and advice).I informed staff of what their rights were and almost our entire department together with another department either refused to sign the vote or said no to the retrenchment. It did of course help that I had DT's whip with me at the time, she handed it over to me earlier today..... You can read about it here.Unsurprisingly the lazy arsed boys have signed and are very peeved with me at the moment because they say that I am delaying the inevitable. The Universe, friends and gratitude.....
2008-01-25 09:32:00 Hi All, Firstly let me start off by saying... WOW!!!! To all of you who left me the most awesome comments I thank you. To those who called, sms'd and emailed, thank you to you too. The support here in Blogland is amazing. I really do believe that I was sent here to Blogland so that I didn't have to go through anything alone anymore. Just before I started blogging I asked the Universe for strength and it seems they sent you guys and gals. For that I will be eternally grateful. I think that sometimes when we visualize something, we are not specific enough and the Universe gets it all wrong.. I have been visualizing working from home and apparently the Universe got that one slightly wrong because what I should have been visualsing was my website makings lots of money in order to allow me to work from home.. You see where I am going with this? We need to be specific in what we want, the Universe wants details. Apparently I was not detailed enough... LOL. &n... Bad space.................
2008-01-24 15:23:00 Hi all you fabulous bloggers, I am in a very bad space at the moment. I don't know if you read my previous post where I wrote about the retrenchments that were happening here at work. Well if you didn't, I was on the list and a colleague saved my ass by finding another job and taking the package. They have just put letters down on our desks and once again they are retrenching. I think that the odds of me going are extremely high considering that I was on the list last time. Our retrenchment meeting is at 3.20 this afternoon. The last time I got retrenched it took me 10 years of fighting to get my life back on track as well as my credit record. I realize that this is possibly the Universe's way of getting me out of a very unpleasant, unhealthy working environment but I sure hope that they have a back up plan. If not I am seriously SCREWED! Please will you say a prayer for me..? P.S. To those of you who have called, mai... More About: Space
Neighbour...... the end
2008-01-24 09:44:00 I am getting really tired of the neighbour story now so this will be the last in this little series. And she clearly has not read this because she hasn't gone away yet! Sunday continued: Right so where were we? Ok Sunday night at 10.05 PM the cell phone rings. It's of course the neighbour. Do I need anything from the shop? Ok now I am getting a little concerned. Who in their right mind goes to the shop on a Sunday night after 10PM? None of my business any anyway I don't WANT to know. Monday: I had a day's leave and it was BLISS... The neighbour was at work. I left the car in the garage all day, didn't go anywhere. The moment she got home I switched my cell phone off. I am busy cooking a lovely beef Rogan josh curry for dinner, Son A had stopped at the shop with a list of what I needed and he and a friend where busy in the lounge doing their whole sales pitch thing (practice makes perfect). Ok now I was a bit blind sided here as she NEVER ...

Governmentium..........
2008-01-23 16:16:00 My "luffly" friend Stray Cat sent this to me via email so I thought I would share it with you whilst we are having a sudden burst of speed on the internet here.....Research in South Africa has led to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 5 years; It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of th...
Neighbour ...... Part 3
2008-01-23 14:06:00 Just when I thought we were safe, Women24 went and put my story on the front page! Noooooo guys! What if she reads it? Ok but never mind that now, it's done. Saturday continued.. Finally I had to go home, for crying out loud I live there, my 6 furry face children are there and they can tell time, it was getting close to dinner. Sure enough when I walked in the door there they were, tapping their paws on the floor, looking up at the clock (kind of like Lornagh taps her fingers). Fed the cats, made a quick snack and yep you guessed it, plonked my ass in front of the pc. The proverbial knock on the door syndrome struck again a while later. I am not going to discuss here what she came here for; it was to discuss a problem. I don't think she liked my advice much... But hey that's who I am, I tell you what I think you should hear, NOT what you would like to hear... No point in bullshitting and prolonging the problem. Digressing ag... More About: Part , Part 3

It's gone too far now......
2008-01-22 14:57:00 By Murray Williams and Leila SamodienPanic-stricken Table Mountain Cableway passengers jumped from a moving cable car, fearing for their lives, in a night of high drama as 900 were left stranded for hours by a power failure. The drama unfolded high above the city after the blackout caused the cable cars to stall in mid-air, then jam into guiding bars at the top cableway station.Rescuers worked until about midnight to evacuate passengers stranded in the two cable cars. And then all hell broke loose: Both cabins jammed about 2m from their loading docks one at the top of the mountain and the other at the bottom near the off-loading ramp leaving them suspended in midair as rescue operations got under way.Among the 900 people on the mountain was a 65-strong group of tourists from a multinational medical care company, Fresenius. Fresenius chief executive Brian Prinsloo said on Tuesday: "We've been in town since last Thursday for a Middle East-Africa convention. "The guys were despe...
Cats and load shedding......
2008-01-22 12:19:00 Good Morning fabulous bloggers, I have been having a good laugh at your comments about the neighbour (part 3 to come later). I am trying to pop in at all the blogs, if I don't get to yours, forgive me; I will make it there at some point. I have a favourite's folder for the long blogs that I want to go back and read later so you are in there somewhere.. I am due to be load shedded at 12 today so am going to be pretty scarce on here today.. I also think I might be coming down with a cold.. Stress. A quick update on the work front. I took leave on Monday and Friday and then called the sod sorry I mean boss yesterday to ask if I could take the rest of the week off.. The short story is that he in a very round about way threatened me with my job, so I have today off and then I must go back on Wednesday *big sigh*. Neighbour...... Part 2
2008-01-21 22:14:00 Ok we are still safe; the neighbour clearly has not read my post because she was over here almost as soon as she got home. She left about 10 minutes ago, its 20h16 as I type this up in Word just so you know. Right then, where were we? So much time has passed I don't know if I am going to remember Saturday's saga (thanks Eskom). Friday continued: Ok so she brings me a plate of food... lekker tjopies, a bit of wors, salad and potato bake. Said she's coming back later once her other guests leave...Buggery bollocks, I wait half an hour, switch off my phone and ALL the lights. Went through to the kitchen to get a drink and bumped my head on the corner of the shelf in the dark. I said some VERY bad words, some I had no idea I even knew... But, I digress. At about 11.30 PM, I decide it's safe to switch the phone back on. Sure enough there's a missed call and a sms. Sent at 10.22: "I guess it's too late to come over and visit".. Hell YES! More articles from this author:2008-01-20 19:50:00 Right then.. In between reading blogs, commenting on blogs, reading comments on blogs and responding to comments on my blog (phew! Blogging really is a full-time job) AND chatting on MSN to no less than 3 bloggers simultaneously (multi tasking at it's finest) I have been toying with whether or not to do this post. I am afraid that if my neighbour ever reads it, she will be very hurt and that is not my intention at all. I, in fact find it very difficult of late to be rude to people and therefore I tend to suffer because of it. Sometimes I just think that there really is no nice way to tell people that they are invading your space. And speaking of space, my space is huge and I need a LOT of it! I enjoy my solitude and there are just some days when I really don't feel like listening to someone else's "stuff". But I digress as is a few bloggers way... Not mentioning any names. Back to the neighbour. Ok just to give you any idea. this is how it went this week star... More About: Post , Neighbours , Wrote 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
