Cat Update

Hi all,   I hope you are all having a better day than I am.. and no don't worry I won't bore you with the details. Thanks to all my friends and you know who you are for the mails and calls cheering me up!   I thought I would give you some good news, Son A was able to touch Columbus last night. For the first time Columbus didn't run away from him and when he held his hand out, Columbus put his head in it! It was great to see.   Even better than that was when I went to bed last night, after watching me with those beautiful inquisitive eyes, he slowly inched himself closer and closer until he was actually lying on top of me. Then he rolled over onto his back and gazed at me with the most "love sick" eyes.... A cat that lies on his back is a VERY secure cat indeed.   Now THAT is what I call progress!   Please don't forget to go to Sponty's blog and RSVP for the Cape Town Mob, we need to book a table.

I just popped out now at lunch time because my shoe strap broke!It was not very funny (although to others it must have been) "limping" along trying not to fall out of my shoe! I finally walked into the shoe shop after about 10 minutes of dragging, limping and hopping along!I never shop, in fact I don't ever do shopping but some "bug" bit me today and I came back to the office with 3 pairs of shoes, a skirt and 2 pairs of pants! That's my shopping done for the next year!The "Hotel guests" are doing great! Columbus was a weekender in there this weekend but by last night had had enough and so moved himself back into my room with all his toys, cat tent, food etc etc... another thing I hate is moving.... but that's a story for another blog.   This post is for all the dog lovers but especially for Wild Rose:   Here are some signs of body language from a dog:   Aggression:   The ears are forward and close to the head. The eyes will narrow and the stare will be challenging. The lips will be open and drawn back to expose teeth bared in a snarl. The body will be tense and upright. The hackles on the neck will in all likelihood be up. The tail will be straight out from the body and in the case of a longhaired dog might be fluffed up.   Fearful:   The ears will be laid back on the dog's head. Purring is the rhythmic vibrating sound that all cats can produce when they are in a content state.   Good morning all,What a busy night I had last night. When I got home I set about feeding my cats first and then went into the garage to empty and refill cat litter trays, food bowls and water bowls. Then off to my room to do the same.Logged onto blogs and replied to comments and then visited as many as I could. My friend Stray Cat has been very busy with work so I was very happy to catch her on MSN for a change and we had a nice chat and a giggle.Right, so now it's time to go and spend some quality time while waiting for Son A to get home so I can make dinner.   Good Morning Blogland,   After the lovely MOB Un-Valentine's party on Saturday night I was most surprised when I woke up at 7.45 on Sunday morning and especially because Son A had dragged the mattress into my office so I had a really comfortable sleep.   My Sunday started off with me switching on the kettle on my way to the garage to feed the furry babies. After making my coffee and feeding my lot I made my way to my bedroom to go and see if I could coax the other 2 ferals into the pet voyager. By about 11.30 I knew that it wasn't going to work so I had a very bright idea. I fetched Columbus out of the garage and by the way I can pick him up now!   The 2 cats were so happy to see him, both tails shot straight into the air! Yay.. or so I thought.   I have had a few people ask me already how they find a comment on their blog on one of their older posts. And this is most especially for Stray Cat as I promised her I would do this for her.. A lot of bloggers I know and in particular new bloggers are not aware that you can log onto your mail at 24.com and retrieve exactly where your comments came from. If you are on the home page of Women 24 at the very top of the page there is a dropdown menu that says 24.com services. Click on the down arrow and select mail. You will be taken to the 24mail page. If you are on 24.com the go to mail which is in the same place as you would find the blogs tab. You use your blog user name and password to log on. Once you have logged on you will be taken to a screen that looks like this and you will see how many messages are in your inbox. If you have never logged on you will probably see loads! Click on the Inbox on the left hand side and it will expand it for you so you can double cli...

  Right, where were we? Oh yes ok, so I am now off to the Ladies only Bloggers Un-valentine party but first I must make a pitstop at Woolies for some finger foods to take with as there was just no time for me to still make a plate of nibbly bits to take with. I bought some samoosa's and chicken liver pate with some biscuits and zoomed off down the road as I was running a bit late but I had sms'd to say I was 15 minutes late. Thankfully the party was in my area so it was about 5 minutes away.   After a wrong turn or 2 I finally arrived. And there she was, Lornagh met me outside with Meezie whose house it was.   Good morning all,   My weekend of work, work, work started for me on Friday when I got home and had to start "converting" my garage into a "cat's room"!   Three and a half hours later, my job was done and I was thinking of moving into the garage myself, I had done such a good job of it! This is what it looks like:   Ok so with the garage all nicely cleaned out and carpeted, it was now time to try and catch the little buggers to get them IN THERE!   Right.. pet voyager in hand with lovely smelling fish (lovely smelling to cats that is) in said pet voyager I was armed and dangerous.      Into the room I went and placed my "trap" just next to the bed. Hi All,I have not been in Blogland at all this weekend as my little furry critters have been keeping me extremely busy and it's far too long to post about so I will update everyone and post some pics of their "new home" tomorrow.I just want to say thank you to EVERYONE who clinked on my blog and also thank you for all the congratulation messages. Before I post today's Friday Story I need to clarify something.Friday stories are not always my own, I get mailed a Friday Story by a gentleman by the name of Bob Proctor from the movie The Secret. If it's good I post it and if it's not inspiring enough, I post my own. Here is today's one that has just landed in my inbox: Words Are Weapons With four young daughters, 14 and under, I frequently find myself correcting, disciplining, or simply protesting unnecessary and unkind comments certain to anger or wound a sister and evoke counterattacks that fill the air with nastiness. Hoping to get them to think before they speak in the future, I often ask, "What did you expect to accomplish by that remark?" and "Did it make things better or worse?" It disappoints and frustrates me that my children are so often unkind to one another and so quick to make foolish comments that have no constructive purpose. Good morning all you lovely bloggers!Last night I wrote a post that took me hours to do as I had to do all the links and my internet connection for some reason was EXTREMELY slow and it took me AGES to upload all the pictures. I was also chatting to some lovely blogger friends on MSN and eventually I realised that it was almost 10PM and I was taking a bit of strain from having sat at the pc for so long (Damn this blogging is addictive!)I still had to make sarmies for lunch and wash my hair but first I thought I would check on the furry kids.Did I get a shock! 2 Cats had pee'd on my bed!!! Not just a little pee let me tell you, it was like they had kept it in the entire day!   Hello   My name is Tallulah and I was my Human Mom's favourite cat. She also rescued me from the same factory as Bacardi and Miaghi came from. You can read about my story here.   I was the cat that was meant to be a foster, a visitor, call it what you like. I made sure that I wormed my way into my new Mommy's heart very quickly and in no time my plan had worked and she had decided to keep me.   I will never forget the day that I got run over. It was so hard for me to look down from. you know the place us cats go when we pass on and see my Human sobbing and sobbing when she gently picked me up out of the road and carried me into the back garden to be buried. I remember how she gently wrapped me in my favourite blanket all the while talking gently to me and telling me how much she loved me. Hello there, My name is Bacardi and I am actually The Human's FIRST feral rescue. Typical Magoo thinking she is always first! Ok, ok yes she was the first rescue but then again so I am! You can read about MY rescue here. Anyway my Human is waiting patiently (or actually the carpet is bare from the pacing already so that's debatable) for her brother to arrive (Not Daryl, the other brother) so that they can finish putting up the Cat Contraption. I personally don't really like "going over the wall" myself, I like to stand at the front door and give my Human "THE LOOK". My "look" has been practiced and perfected by me over the last 3 years so I am really good at it. Also the Human gives me 5 minutes and tells me I must be back when my time is up. I am always back by the end of the 5 minutes and I never go in the road since Tallulah died. Am I responsible or what? Good morning all,I am writing this on behalf of my human who has lots to do today....I hope you had a fabulous night here in Blogland. I was astounded last night when before 10PM my human's head already started nodding. By 11.30 she was toast and ambled off to bed. Was sleep before her head hit the pillow. I have fantastic news!I just had a smoke break with the boss who was extremely pale this morning when I was advising all the staff of their rights......I would seem that I am safe for now....I am not sure of any details and I hope that he is not trying to sweeten me up but that's what he said!It must have been all the prayers and positive vibes coupled together with the fact that I am clearly not going to go without a fight....Obviously I cannot put too many details here for fear of "blowing my cover". There are others who are going to go but for now they will keep a minimum staff complement and it would seem that I am included in that.Thanks once again for all the prayers, angels, positive thoughts and vibes....... clearly SOMETHING has worked!The company is still going to close down but at least now there is some breathing room for the few that will be left.I really feel for the rest though who were silly enough to sign that piece of paper. Hi All,Once again I cannot thank you enough for the fantastic support that I have got from all of you.The way that things stand at the moment is as follows:A voting paper was sent around this morning for us to sign. Instead of an anonymous vote though you had to put your name and ID Number on the document (intimidation at its finest).Most people just wanted to go ahead and sign.... Cat_Woman to the rescue (thanks to all DT's input and advice).I informed staff of what their rights were and almost our entire department together with another department either refused to sign the vote or said no to the retrenchment. It did of course help that I had DT's whip with me at the time, she handed it over to me earlier today.....   Hi All,   Firstly let me start off by saying... WOW!!!! To all of you who left me the most awesome comments I thank you. To those who called, sms'd and emailed, thank you to you too.   The support here in Blogland is amazing. I really do believe that I was sent here to Blogland so that I didn't have to go through anything alone anymore. Just before I started blogging I asked the Universe for strength and it seems they sent you guys and gals.
