Cape Coffee Consortium
2008-01-20 15:54:00 I am very proud to announce (drum roll please!) TA DA that I have been presented with a Cape Coffee Consortium Badge! I see my dear friend Lornagh is STILL keeping everyone in suspense..... getting a good run for her money I reckon!Thank you also to Glitz for my MOB badge!! Mwah! You rock girl...I am busy working on a post right now about my neighbour and am in 2 minds as to whether or not I should post it, for fear that she might read it. I think that the odds are pretty slim, but you never know! She more or less knows where my blog is and what it's called so one can never be too sure.... What do you think?
This is for you A (my IT buddy)
2008-01-20 01:14:00 I was thinking of mailing this to my boss together with my resignation letter after I win the Lotto tonight: And then of course when he "phaffs" around and his mind wanders I thought this would be appropriate: Because this is really what I think of him:And then of course when he finally decides to have his 5th meeting of the day after postponing it 3 times: And last but not least, this is what I will be thinking when I go back to work on Tuesday: Good night Blogland, it's been fun as always!! Exercise......
2008-01-19 00:25:00 I have missed out on 2 days worth of blogging. As you know I have been having a bit of er stress at work so took 2 days off.On Thursday I couldn't blog because of lazy arsed boys downloading 3 GIG files and then on Thursday night I sat down at my pc glass of wine and ciggy in hand and wouldn't you know? There was a knock at the door.... and it was the neighbour. Bugger, bollocks.... so once again my blogging was interrupted.Today I decided to be good and do all the housework and washing first.... well thought I would check a few blogs and then start. Ha ha I started cleaning the house at about 12.45....I didn't get back onto the blogs again until about 4.30 and wouldn't you just believe it - my internet was down! Finally once again with glass of wine and ciggy in hand I thought I would try my luck.... YES! Internet back up and off I went.... Knock on the door - same neighbour. Come for a braai, it's my dad's birthday... NO thank you......Shame she b... More About: Exercise
Eishkom Jokes
2008-01-18 19:53:00 Hi AllI thought in "light" of the recent Eishkom load shedding we all have to endure, I would post a few Eishkom jokes. On a serious note, I have detailed Eskom Load Shedding schedules, if you would like me to mail it to you, leave your email address.... A man dies and goes to hell. There he finds that there is a different hell for each country. He decides he'll pick the least painful to spend his eternity. He goes to German Hell and asks, 'What do they do here?' He is told first they put you in an electric chair for an hour. Then they lay you on a bed of nails for another hour. Then the German devil comes in and whips you for the rest of the day'. The man does not like the sound of that at all so he moves on. He checks out the USA Hell as well as the Russian Hell and many more. He discovers that they are all similar to the German hell. Then he comes to the South African Hell and finds that there is a long line of people waiting to get in. Amazed, he asks, 'What do they do here?... More About: Jokes
Your Friday Story
2008-01-18 13:51:00 Here is your Friday story, Self-fulfilling Prophecy Proverbs 23: 7 - "As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is." The batter hits the ball high in the air towards right field. It arcs majestically against the sky. It is going right towards Sammy. Everybody in the park knows that he's going to drop it. Sammy knows that he's going to drop it. He drops it. This scene has been replayed time and time again on fields around the world. It doesn't have to be a fielder; it sometime is a batter you know is going to strike out. It doesn't even have to be baseball. It can be anything. It's called a self-fulfilling prophecy. I wasn't familiar with this term until I took a psychology class in university. Basically it means that what you believe will usually happen. If you believe you are going to flunk a test, you probably will. If you think the meal you are making for your new in-laws will be a disaster, it probably will. If you think you will be in a car accident, better call your insu... More About: Story
Friday Humour
2008-01-18 12:18:00 Morning all,Once again thank you all for your comments, support and emails during the last frustrating couple of days.... it really does make a huge difference in my life to find an email or a funny comment on my blog. I have loads of housework to do so I am off to tackle it all shortly and then I will be back later to read all the blogs that I missed yesterday (phew... that could take a while). In the meantime here is some Friday humour and I will post my usual Friday story a bit later on.Oh and on my gratitude list this morning is the following line:I am so grateful that I did not have to sit in the traffic this morning when Eishkom shedded their load between 6.00 and 8.30 in my area and all along my route to work.See ya later..... During an hour's swimming at a municipal pool you will ingest 1/12 litres of urine. In an average day your hands will have come into indirect contact with 15 penises (touching door handles etc.) An av... More About: Humour
The Hyperlink Thingy....... again
2008-01-18 00:54:00 If my memory serves me correctly I think that the very first post I ever did here in Blogland was a post on how to do a Hyperlink. I can probably go and check to make sure but nah.... it's getting late now and my head is already nodding off to the side...Anyway I thought that I would post it again....Ok here goes.... First you go to the person's blog that you are going to write about. . In the address bar of your internet explorer copy everything that is in there. It should look like this: http://womenblogs.24.com/ViewBlog.aspx?bl ogid=452850d7-5256-4769-9069-d1b1e86deaa4 Create a new post Type your blog as you normally would with the name of the blogger that you want to link to. Then when you are done posting, highlight the bloggers name e.g. Cat_Woman. At the top of your screen you will see an icon that looks like this Click on it. The following screen will appear.... Ok so far, so good.... &n...
Finally.......
2008-01-17 20:06:00 Hello there,Finally I am able to write a post. One of the lazy arsed boys was downloading a 3 GIG (!!!!) file via Bit Torrent. It chomps bandwidth and basically ground our entire network to a halt today. I couldn't even send or receive email expect for one brief moment when I was able to let Stray Cat know more or less why I had not been online...I wasn't going to "tell" on him because it really is not my place as far as I am concerned. The Manger (should read Manager) should be checking up on what his staff are up to..... not me!Anyway, the meeting this morning was his usual "phaff", pussyfoot around..... blah blah bullshit blah blah bullshit some more blah blah and even more bullshit. I asked others if they actually knew what the meeting was about afterwards and basically the answer was no. So really the meeting was about blah blah and bullshit. The one thing that we did all understand and hear loud and clear is that NO ONE's job is secure or guaranteed. He went on to say (in b...
Updates.....
2008-01-16 20:31:00 Ok I have a few updates: Firstly the 2 beautiful cats have found a fabulous home on a 50 000 Acre property with trees and streams and all sort of lovely "cat things" so I am ecstatic! Secondly for those who didn't read my previous post on the puppies and kittens being sold at robots, the guy responsible was arrested and they are trying to track where these animals are coming from. YAY!! I love progress.. And now to the third update: THE BOSS. Ok for my regular blogger friends/readers I wrote a post a while back about retrenchments. Luckily as you know I survived. One of my colleagues took the package and saved my ass. Ok so imagine our shock today when they retrenched our IT Manager together with I think 5 or 6 other Senior Managers. That's not even the worst part. They called our Boss over and so we thought the worst.. We were wrong, they have amalgamated our Department with IT and my boss will run the whole show (oh bugger). Ok but wait because I am not done yet... When... More About: Updates
Good news......
2008-01-16 11:57:00 Good morning Bloggers,The arsehole, sorry I mean The Boss is on the warpath today big time....... One of my colleagues is going to try and slip 2 rescue tablets in his coffee...... the man needs to calm the f**** down....I will be scarce on the blogs today but I thought that this story deserved a mention.A fellow blogger and now a dear friend Stray Cat posted this comment on my blog yesterday in response to the News article about the puppies and kittens being "sold" at robots: "Right... I got off my blogging butt and phoned Randburg SPCA. Seems this sort of thing has to be reported to the Metro Police as it is a by-law infringement. Then phoned 10111 and received confirmation that this is the best option. And, just for info, Randburg SPCA confirmed that only today the cops brought in the puppy seller and the puppies - SPCA took charge of the puppies and cops took charge of the seller!" And here is the confirmation in the Newspaper this morning.. YAY! Animal love... More About: Good News , Good
International Cat Hugging Day....
2008-01-15 18:33:00 Driving home from work (thankfully no load shedding of robots today!) listening to Fresh on 5FM. He was saying that it's International Hug your Cat Day. I was very ashamed as a cat lover to not have know this.... and then I got to thinking... I don't need a special day to hug my cats, I hug them every day. In other news - it looks like I am going to be fostering 2 Norwegian Forest cats. They are brothers and look almost identical. Here are some pics of them. Take note of how similar they look... What next?...........
2008-01-15 12:38:00 I read this article this morning and found it quite shocking.....and very very sad....Thankfully I haven't seen this in Cape Town.....A group of hawkers have hit on a novel way of making money - by threatening to kill puppies and kittens in front of motorists if they don't buy them.Motorists along William Nicol Drive, north of Joburg, have recently found themselves harassed by hawkers trying to sell small puppies and kittens - some costing as much as R400.The animals are normally in a terrible state, covered in fleas, mange and ringworm - and receive no food or water all the hours they are peddled on the side of the road.Ross Malan, from Hurlingham Manor, found himself with an unwanted puppy this weekend after feeling sorry for a tiny dog that had been out in the sun for hours with a man clearly using him as a begging tool. "I was running promotions with my friend on a William Nicol intersection when I noticed a man walking through the traffic using this puppy to beg....
Fabulous bloggers....
2008-01-15 09:48:00 Good morning all,After the bad day that I had yesterday, I climbed into my car at 4 o'clock and was looking forward to getting home and reading all the blogs. This was not to be for quite some time as Eishkom once again decided to shed their load by killing robots in rush hour traffic! What is normally a half hour trip turned into me getting home at 5.30 so you do the math....Finally I was able to go online and thank you bloggers, I laughed from the moment I logged on and was still chuckling to myself when I got into bed VERY late as I had loads of catching up to do..The only problem now is the wine rack is nearly empty! Sorry Broody and Moody but I did save you some....Right so this morning I meditated and did my visualisation as I always do and then it was time for a quick visit to the blogs. It's great to get here early and actually have a fast internet connection at least until the lazy arsed "others" get in and start downloading.So..... 2008-01-14 16:40:00 Hello Blogland You would not believe the day I am having today so I am going to vent a bit in order to try and get this off my chest otherwise I fear I might explode. I am unable to go on line at work as it is just soooooo slow, not to mention I am really busy and my boss is a nosy sod, I really do not need him to find out about my blog especially since this post is going to be about him. Our resident lazy arsed "boys" are downloading DVD's etc and have ground our internet to an absolute standstill. I have already had 4 meetings with my sod boss, one of which I walked out of! He is the most negative, whiny, weak, pratt, sod, bastard I have ever met in my life. He phaffs around, wastes my time and doesn't listen to a word I say when I try and give him some good advice. The PABX system we have, I worked for the company who sells/installs and maintains them for 10 and a half years installing it, maintaining it and training on it, I know my stuff. He calls... Shopping for cat "things"......
2008-01-13 17:25:00 Right.... so yesterday when Eishkom were shedding their load I had a blonde moment when I went to the Vet Shop to buy cat food. No power, no payment with credit card! Drat now what? Went to Spar (they have a generator) and bought some of the "cheap" stuff. Well... the cats were having none of THAT! I tried to explain that they would have to wait until the next day until I could got back to the Vetshop to get the "decent" stuff. All I got was THE LOOK! Ok so when I woke up this morning, the cat bowls were still full and in front of me were 6 cats ALL giving me "THE LOOK" So I was forced to go out and go do some "cat shopping". Got the GOOD stuff, thought I would give them a break from their usual Hills (besides we have had some fat comments from fellow bloggers. And some Catnip Spray to encourage sleeping in actual allowed "cat places" Take note of the cat paws in the background advancing on the "product". And also some "Greenies" for tha... Last night........
2008-01-13 12:19:00 Ok so after getting my sister addicted to blogging yesterday, what did she do last night? Yep she blogged! 4 posts nogal! And so I stayed online until just after 1.00 this morning just to check what she was up to....... well she's younger than me...... ok ok I know she's in her LATE 30's but still ..... you gotta look out for the siblings.... (and I had to check she wasn't telling any family secrets...)I digress as is normally Vusi's way....I can't remember when last I had such fun (yeah I know I really need to get out more!) as what I did here in Blogland.I actually managed to come up with a limerick for Sideview's weekend challenge...... must have been the wine I think... Rachel popped in and we discussed Predator Pouches and I think she wanted to see if Crazy Daisy had left some scoop.......Anyway all in all it was a great night, with loads of chirping, visiting and bantering and I discovered so many new blogs that I had never read before like Cranky&nb... Broken Tiles and Sisters....
2008-01-12 22:02:00 Ok so where were we? I have now started writing my posts in Word and then pasting them because this is my second third attempt at writing this post....it keeps disappearing... see really am having a bad day! Ah yes, Jake and the tiles. Ok so while I was in the garage trying to maneuver past my car with a big basket of washing and knocking off all the power tools (ooooh I love power tools but that's a story for another day) Jake was in the kitchen practicing his skiing techniques on the counter. Ok now I have to explain something here. I have tiles on my kitchen counter so that: a) I can put hot pots and things straight onto the counter without having to hunt for one of those pot holder thingies. b) So that the white counter will not get stained (I know Supa very anal) by oh say red wine glass rings and other things. Late......... again
2008-01-12 17:46:00 Does anyone want 3 guesses as to why I am so late with my post today??Frigging Eiskom AGAIN! And I almost had to grab for my vase of wine when I switched on my pc and it started doing a scan and then running a diagnostic.....Anyway all is well with my pc (phew!) as you can see so here I am!Today has really not been a good day for me. I wasn't in the mood for having a visit from my neighbour today so I left the car in the garage this morning. Therein lies my first problem. The washing machine is in there. I had to squeeze past the car to get to the machine with washing basket in hand..... Bugger and bollocks didn't I just knock all the "stuff" off the shelf on my way through! Then while I am loading the washing into the machine, I hear a VERY loud crash in the kitchen. Hadn't Lord Muck (Jake) just decided that the kitchen counter was a fun place to ski! He broke 3 tiles! I will post pics of that later. It didn't get much better after that because then the load shedding st... More About: Late

Here is your Friday story
2008-01-11 13:07:00 Saying Your Thank You's A year ago, at a get-together of a dozen girlfriends from college, I saw my old friend, Therese Gibson. When I told her I was writing a book called Happy for No Reason, which focuses on the 21 core habits of unconditionally happy people, she told me about the daily gratitude ritual she practices with her 95-year-old father, Charlie, that keeps them smiling and feeling good. Therese moved in with Charlie, who's still sharp as a tack, during a bad time in both their lives. Charlie's wife had just died, Therese was at the tail end of a painful divorce, and money was tight. They were as glum as any two people could be. But both had heard that gratitude was a great way to feel better, so they decided to sit together for a few minutes each morning before Therese headed off to work and tell each other three things they were grateful for in their lives. "It was slow going in the beginning," Therese told me. "The first time we did it, I had a hard time thinking o... More About: Story , Friday

Not tonight dear, I have a migraine....
2008-01-09 14:40:00 I know, I know, I am late. I woke up this morning at 05h45 with what can only be called a MOTHER of a migraine.... I took loads of drugs (the legal prescirption variety) and by 06h45 there was still no change so I sms'd the sod sorry I mean the boss and said that I would not be in.... well I couldn't even drive, never mind work and there was no chance of blogging either..... I couldn't see.I took another 2 tablets and went back to bed and woke up way past 11. The head is still pounding a little but at lest I can see enough to read the blogs..... and of course the comments.I will leave you with some thoughts while I go and scratch for some Myprodol.....~ Yes, but every time I try to see things your way, I get a headache.~ If you have a lot of tension and you get a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle: "Take two aspirin" and "Keep away from children".~ This is the reason why your headache didn't go away: That's actually pronounced analgesic, not anal-g... 2008-01-08 22:36:00 This is what I like doing best...... coming home, playing with the cats (Czardas and Vusi get your minds out of the gutter!) and then reading all the blogs and of course the comments. And then there's the responding to all the comments..... And reading more comments..And I have come to realise that sometimes the best part is reading the comments on not only my blog but on other people's blogs.Last night I was crying with laughter reading some of the comments. A thinks I have completely lost it now, he calls me "Blogkop", (that's BlogHead fro you Vusi) says he can't remember what I look like (except maybe from the back glued to the pc screen). Thank goodness I wasn't still at the office or come to think of it maybe that's why they have blocked the blog site at the office.....there was FAR too much laughter coming from my office. And we can't have laughter at the office now can we? I mean after all it is a place of WORK. My boss keeps asking me why I am laughing (poor bu...
