Bad Case Of Wheezing; Meet Snoop Dog!
2008-04-01 16:42:00 The PawHealer team has been working with Snoop Dog ...he's only 18 months old. The wheezing formula is working for him, getting him off the predisone. We have sent out a second batch to Deanna for Snoop Dog, but there is some concern here. Snoop has really bad wheezing, and regardless if its Prediosone or the herbs, these medicinals are hard on the stomach. So, the PawHealer team, me and Dr. Pink, have been researching solutions for a formula that can be used for a long term solution along with a strong anti wheezing effect. The PawHealer is in the middle of finals for school and has been really busy! We have many dog and cat friends we will be adding to our blog once the semester has ended.THANK GOODNESS! The PawHealer is tired to say the least....From: deannaDate: 3/27/2008 1:19:17 PMTo: hollyemead@gmail.comSubject: HI! Lets Wish Peeks The Cats The Best!
2008-03-27 05:09:00 Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I sent off a formula today to help Mr. Peeks the cat.Peeks was just diagnosed with Feline Hyperthyroidism.Dr. Pink and I put alot of thought into what we should do with Mr. Peeks formula. After extensive research we decided to put Mr. Peeks on the very famous zhi bai di huang wan and we modified it with shi gao.We need this modification for Peeks because of his extreme hungering. We felt that the bio-meds would control the goiter, and we feel that getting rid of the deficiency heat was paramount in this situation.Heat is not a good thing to have...think of a car running low on oil...it runs hot, and then it burns out. This is somewhat of an analogy of Yin deficiency. We are tonifying Mr. Peeks Yin.We would like to see his hunger decrease as his Yin becomes nourished.Thank you peeks for trusting the Pawhealing team with your health. Sport The Agility Dog Says Thanks!
2008-03-22 13:46:00 Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I got a call from Anne, her dog Sport was not feeling well. He was constantly itching, had dark skin spots, had a rash on his chin and hot spots all over his tummy. To top it off, Sport was feeling so bad that he didn't want to go to his agility classes, which he use to love to do.Dr. Pink and I diagnosed the condition as heat in the wei and qi levels, with wind and dampness accumulating in the middle jiao which was the root problem causing all the skin problems due to internal dampness. We made his custom formula based on clearing this heat (causing the itch) with Gardenia Complex, we also added xiao feng san which is a classical Chinese formula for skin damp heat to stop the itching and the hot spots, and then we mixed it with a base formula called ping wei san, to move the accumulated damp.We also asked that Ann follow up with formula that will continue to strengthen Sports's constitution to prevent further occurrences of outbreaks.Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I... 2008-03-22 05:41:00 Dr. Pinky Pinkerton and I have been really really busy.We made the decision about 6 weeks ago that we wanted to make working with dogs and cats our future. Its funny, because I feel like the spicket of the universe turned on once we made that very important decision. We have been blessed with double digit growth, and our patient base is growing exponentially.I feel that I have never really found my place in the universe. I had a great job, and made alot of money, but I never felt like I fit.Working with animals makes me feel like I fit...I have now found my place in the universe.I love working with animals, and I'm so satisfied with my decision and I'm so looking forward to the good things that I am sure are coming our way.Thank You Universe !and The PawHealer Family More About: Personal
Update on Shaman and Shadow

(Shaman's and Shadow's link) We have a current update from Rhonda and "the boyz".Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I get a kick out of Rhonda's updates, we think you will to!Hi Holly:Thought you'd like to know about the status of the boyz maladies....Shaman has NOT BEEN LICKING his back paw hardly at all. I haven't seen such an improvement in 1 1/2 years. Honest! He still is licking his front paw, but not as much. The yeast/scabby/crusty scabby stuff around his mouth is SO MUCH IMPROVED it's hardly there anymore. (Only a couple of little spots....)This is a major improvement. The diet you recommended is super. The boyz absolutely love it. There is a big problem, though....Shaman squeals so much while awaiting his food and barks and twirls (this morning at 6:00 AM) that I'm afraid he's going to wake up the entire condo neighborhood... So far, no complaints, and I hope they aren't coming. Hum....maybe I'm going t... More About: Update
Meet Bully...One Of Our First Customers
2008-03-17 04:32:00 This is Bully and he has a collapsed trachea...but there is a story about Bully. He is one of the first dog's that started working with Dr. Pink Pinkerton and myself.Rudy (Bully's owner)...is a dedicated and loving pet owner. He has been searching high and low to find a cure for Bully's trachea. One day he happened to find our website, and I would say we have been working together for over a year. But Bully and Rudy have a problem. Rudy's wife does not believe in Chinese medicine so Rudy has to keep everything a secret and he can't talk to us on the phone...So we have just recently gotten Bully's cough under control because of the communication limitations. The team has to hand it to Rudy, he is incredibly dedicated to old Bully.Bully has weak knees, so Rudy has to carry him up the stairs at night when they go to bed. Rudy watches over Bully day in and day out, and cares so much about healing Bully. The many dogs that get have received the PawHealer's Collapsed Trachea herbs can... More About: Customers , Meet
Mandy's Cough....A Tough Case!
2008-03-14 16:22:00 Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I have been working with Mandy, her story is published below...anyway Mandy had the typical harsh, and we mean really harsh, honking cough.Of course the Pawhealer team thought nothing of this problem because we are getting such a good response, and Mandy sounded so typical that we had high hopes for her recovery.Dr. Pink and I received an e-mail from Jeannie (Mandy's mom) and she informed the team that Mandy was getting NO better....The Pawhealer team became worried. We told Jeannie that in a few instances that it could take up to ten days to get a change to the cough.....Another day then goes by...The team sent an e-mail to Jeannie that we wanted to speak to her about getting another formula out to her based on the newest symptoms of coughing...which was a deep seated cough...deep and rumbling. But then....we received a call from Jeannie...we held our breath....with worry...And guess what?Jeannie told the PawHealer team that Mandy's cough was over....But poo... Chinese Food Therapy for Dogs and Cats
2008-03-07 17:31:00 Here is the link for the temperature of foods for our dogs and cats;Chinese Food Therapy for Dogs and Cats Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I have promised this information for a long time! How do we use this chart?Well, if for example the pet seems to run "hot" which would be indicated by panting, seeking cool places, thirst, redness of the skin or eyes, etc, then the food choices would come from the foods that are either Cool/Cold or from the neutral category. The reverse of that would be if for instance the pet appeared chilled, wanting to curl up in a ball, wants under the covers of bedding, or seeks to lie in the sunlight, then the food choices would come from the group of Warm/Hot foods and from the neutral category. Not sure? Then use foods from only the neutral category. In the future the PawHealer team will be posting many more diets and food choices.Stay tuned! More About: Chinese Food

Special Basic Kidney Essense Diet For A Long Life
2008-03-01 15:16:00 This is a PawHealer special diet that we developed ourselves. It all started when our oldest dog family member got very sick due to chronic renal disease from unknown origins. (I think it was from the bad pet food awhile back)At the time Dr. Pink and I gave Orbit all the herbal formulas that we thought would work for his condition, but they didn't really begin to effectively help his illness until we actually provided food therapy in tandem with the herbal formulas.Because the PawHealer family is quite large, a total of four dogs to our pack, all of the family is lucky enough to get the special foods that are cooked for Sweet Orbit. The PawHealer loves her dog family, but cooking individual meals for all the pack was NOT an option, therefore all four of the dog family receive Orbit's healing foods. After four months of this continuous diet, not only is Orbit running around and playing with the puppies of the pack, who are Dr Pink Pinkerton, Daisy Girl, and The Bad Dog Chico Martin... Shaman is a 14 yr old Shih Tzu who had prednisone for one week and developed demodex (commonly called red mange, a follicular parasitic mite infestation. The original infection was horrific. Shaman can never take prednisone again. The original infestation cleared up mostly, however Shaman has had an infected toe for 1 1/2 years that is red and hot and sometimes oozy because he licks and licks. We go to the dermatologist constantly and she has prescribed a zillion different antibiotics (when she cultures bacteria its a sure sign he has become resistant to that type of antibiotic.) Anyway, the monthly cultures indicate maybe one or two mites...they are insanely itchy so he is at his paw all the time. This causes other problems with the toe.... in fact, not that either one of us likes this, Shaman now takes interceptor (poison) every other day because the mites never really complet...

Herbal Formulas For Collapsed Trachea
2008-02-16 18:33:00 I've had great success with this particular disease. Especially effective if the dog has just recently started the awful "honking cough". If the cough is not too far advanced, I simply use herbs to scour and rid the Lung of toxic Heat. What does that mean in English? From a TCM perspective there's a deep seated pathogen (germ) that lurks deep down in the airways that causes this respiratory distress. This as a two phase cough. Phase one is the horrible honking cough. I treat this as an infectious type of cough and use herbal antibiotics to scour the lungs. This phase of treatment can take as few as thirty days and up to about sixty days. The second phase is the weak cough that is left after phase one's herbal treatment. Its a very weak cough, but is always there. I still view this as infectious, but the Lung heat is not as intense, so in this case, I mildly continue clear heat as well as rebuild the Qi of the Lungs. It is important that if your dog is in phase one, and we treat the... We Don't Understand...
2008-02-16 17:59:00 Dr Pink and me (pawHealer) are a little irritated today.Yesterday we posted about the sick dog that had Kidney disease. We are very familiar with this disease because our family member Sweet Orbit also has renal failure but we control it through food and herbs. We received many messages from Micky's owner about his worsening condition and we have tried to help her figure out what is best for her Mickey because Micky is getting five shots a day of sodium/chloride, and something is not working.Mickey is not eating and that is a very bad sign. The PawHealer team gave Phylis our opinion which is that since Mickey is getting worse, she needed to review Micky's current treatment plan because treatments are given to make a dog BETTER not worse. We also gave her some links to review so that she could understand our concern, we could not find a treatment protocol that matched what her Mickey was receiving. And since we live our selfs with renal failure, and have never heard of this as a main... More About: Rants , Understand

How Baxter Controls Seizures
2008-01-30 21:12:00 Hi Dr. Pink Pinkerton and PawhealerI'm completely comfortable with the idea of sprinkling the granules on Baxter 's (my Boston) food. To give a Reader's Digest version of his history: He is now 6 yrs old. When he turned 2 he became fear aggressive with no warning and would bite to the bone. I brought in a behaviorist who put him through puppy boot camp behavior modification and saved his life. Around that time he also started with extreme gas, belching, etc. Put him on a very high quality people food and life went on.We had another BT at the time who developed severe grand mal seizures and went the traditional route with phenobarbital and the heavy salts. Two years later, we had to put him down because the drugs were at such a heavy dose they literally removed any inhibitions in this lovely guy and he would start fights with the others; all this and the meds were no longer functional anyway.Baxter developed seizures about a year ago. Traditional vet started the routine med...
Herbs for Your Dogs Congestive Heart Failure
2008-01-24 04:18:00 Unfortunately, I have had first hand experience with a family pet that had significant heart disease that inevitability lead to Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). This was a result to a lifelong exposure to second hand smoke. It was a very sad and frustrating experience because it was my aunt's dog whose name was Puppy. Patty, (my aunt) came to visit, and at the time, Puppy was hacking away and he was unable to breathe properly. I really thought the poor dog was going to die on the spot and I knew something had to be done. Clearly, his prescribed veterinarian medicine was not working for him, because the dog was experiencing horrible distress. That is how I became hands on familiar with a formula called Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang, which spoken in English is called Dispel Stasis In The Mansion of Blood. What the name of this formula infers, "Dispels Stasis"; Is that it tells us that the action of this herbal formulation. is designed to "move blood" . Understanding that the end result of CHF is ... More About: Dogs , Herbs
This Doxie Has An Itch!
2008-01-19 15:57:00 Dear Pinky and Pawhealer; OK Anne Oaklee is a 7 year old sable/fawn 14# stocky dachshund. Annes trouble began this summer we live in northeast Iowa she broke out fur sticking up flacky spots and lossing fur. We tought that it could be heartguard, she really broke out after getting it. She was doing well untill we bought a new frig and DH was cleaning with some orange cleaner & pinesol (I do not use it unless I have to) and she broke out again. Stomach problems began last January Vet put her on S/D sensitive Stomach, she also gets boiled Burger & Rice at night. We had a big problem with glands even thought about having them removed we had to get them cleaned every 2 weeks that has not been a problem for awhile. Anne sometimes likes cover and sometimes not. Her fur is on the coarser side and no dandruff unless she breaks out. None of our neighbors spray and we bag our yard every time. Anne does lick her front feet up to her arm pit. but there is no fur missing.Pinky's response to Ann...
Sparky Has Congestive Heart Failure
More articles from this author:2008-01-17 16:31:00 Spakry hails from Tacoma, Washington, and has just been told by the vet that he has Congestive Heart Failure and along with the fact that his trachea is now beginning to collapse.Sparky is a 12 year old male Silky Terrier and other then this cough that has just started of recent, his mom says he is as active as a puppy and has no other health related issues. The only real symptom that Sparky is exhibiting is the cough that worsens with activity. Unfortunately the recent set of x rays shows that Sparky does have an enlarged heart....After asking Susana his mom many questions, the only real clue I could gather is a tendency towards dryness. The cough is described as a gagging sound, as if Sparky is trying to cough up phlegm.I asked about vaccinations and Sparky does get them on a yearly basis, and his mom did remember that about two years ago, after the shots, Sparky developed a cough that never really went away. The only clue that I could ascertain as to what TCM pattern is the cough... 1, 2, 3 |
