Rainier’s Story
2008-06-03 22:58:00 Rainier the German Shepherd Healing Elbow Dysplasia With Stem Cell Transplants I recently had the pleasure of talking to Susan Page whose dog Rainier led her to seek Stem Cell transplants for a very serious illness. As you can see from the photo Rainier is a magnificient beautiful dog with alot of life and spirit for living. Rainier goes for the gusto in life at full tilt as Susan explains, he loves to move around and is not a layed back dog. Rainier is a German Shepherd that developed elbow dysplasia around the age of only 5 months. This physical problem stopped the idea of the training Susan had in mind for Rainier to become an assisted care trained dog. Rainier would try to go on walks with Susan but on his first year’s birthday, he would fall on his painful leg. Although the German Shepherd breed will have a tendency towards hip dysplasia, the elbow dysplasia was not a trait of this breed, and it was a most unusual development at such a young age. Elbow dysplasia (ED) ... More About: Story , Rainier
Dog Food Blogs from Dog Food Manufacturers
2008-05-31 04:44:00 I have been writing information on pet foods since last June when I commenced this blog for the main reason of providing health information and preventing disease for pet owners. My aim is to provide information on health remedies using natural herbs and supplements so you can make more informed decisions on what is healthy for your dog or cat. You do not need a degree to prevent disease in fact it is very much in the hands of the consumer who have the knowledge necessary to know what the word “natural” means in terms of nutrition for both people and pets. Natural to me means “comes from nature” not a factory or a drug lab or a rendering plant. It means no added chemicals, no processing that robs nutrition from the food ingredients. It means no colors to enhance the look of the food, and it means no imported vitamins or additives and substances used as fillers. Natural to me means no pesticides were used in growing food and farming is performed natural... More About: Food , Manufacturers , Blogs , Dog Food
Dog’s Drug Causes Man to be charged with DWI
2008-05-31 01:24:00 If you wondering why a man would take his dog’s drugs and get charged with a DWI (driving while intoxicated) it’s a serious mistake that happens quite often. Apparently a Des Moines Iowa man was apprended after he apparently mistook his dog’s prescribed drugs instead of his own drugs. Clarence Fenton crashed his SUV into a telephone pole as a result of ingesting his dog Saturn’s medication. The drug was prescribed for his dog’s seizures and contained a powerful ingredient Phenobarbital which is also used in humans for the same condition. After Clarence appeared in court he stated he “did not remember taking the pills” although police found the pills in his vehicle. Clarence was supposed to take his own medication for depression which he said he did the day of the crash. It remains unknown if he took both on the same day or just the phenobarbital. The Iowa State Poison Control Center indicates that people mistakenly take their pet&rs... More About: Drug
Pet Pampering Hotels for Dogs and Cats
2008-05-28 06:17:00 Pet owners that travel have difficulty finding pet sitters but now there is a solution - Pet Hotels . Across the country hotels for dogs and cats are springing up that provide high quality accomodation for your pet as well as spa services. Hopefully this trend is continuing with more pet owners who like to keep their pets pampered while they are away from home. We spend 4 billion dollars a year on pets we love and the hotel industry is making rooms available for people with pets. What were once called ” kennels” are now becoming luxury spa hotels for our best friends. Vancouver in British Columbia has become “Canada’s Dog City” which is listed as a very friendly place for dogs to live in North America. Watch a Dog Improve with Stem Cell Transplant
2008-05-14 19:33:00 Stem cell research is improving the health of dogs, cats and horses with the new technique of transplanting fat cells alone. The procedure is not invansive, takes little time to heal and shows marked improvement in arthritic, hip dysplasia and other bone degenerative diseases. The story of Dosha is fantastic and I will be interviewing a pet owner today who will give even more details on this remarkable stem cell transplant for dogs. Unlike human stem cell research for humans which has been stopped by the current Bush adminstration - animals are reaping the benefits of completely healing their conditions. The best part it costs 1/5th of a bone transplant or hip replacements currently performed by veterinarians which costs thousands of dollars. Your dog could benefit also from stem cell research and live a pain free life with more activity and bounce in their step. For a vet in your area contact: http://www.vet-stem.com Stay tuned for further details, but watch this video... More About: Watch , Cell , Improve , Stem Cell , Stem
Adopt a Rescue Dog-It Could Save Your Life
2008-05-12 19:00:00 You hear of stories of dogs saving their owners life and here is just one more story to add to the countless times a pet has through their own intelligence come to the rescue of people. This story is of a woman named Suann Decourcey who is a nurse in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Suann has a Wheaten terrier who’s name is Maggie May as Suann is a big Rod Stewart fan and is named after one of his songs which I dearly love. Ironically the song has words like ” wake up Maggie”. In this case, it was Maggie who was doing the waking up for Suann. Well Maggie May came to the rescue one morning when after Suann was feeling tired and laid down for a rest. Maggie May several hours later woke Suann up by licking her face, sitting on her and making pecular sounds. The dog did not give up trying to wake up her owner to alert her to an impending danger. Suann’s husband Cyril woke up and realized they were in grave danger. You have to remember Maggie May was only 7 months old ... More About: Life , Rescue , Save , Adopt

Vet Stem Cells Save Dogs From Arthritis
2008-05-02 06:40:00 The new arrival of Vet Regenerative Medicine is here and the use of stem cells in animals such as Dogs , Horses and Cats is becoming a safe and successful procedure for arthritis in pets. Unlike the embryo cells used in human stem cell research, this procedure uses fat cells that are harvested and re injected into the hip or affected area. The cells then regrow or regenerate health cells and within 30 days there is marked improvement in function and healing with the cell transplants. A company in San Diego called Vet Stem is the leader in Regenerative medicine using harvested stem cells from the fat cells in an animal which is then implanted into the hip or joint areas and the treatment has a high success rate. The cells used from one’s body and using your own cells is far superior and heal more quickly without the problems of rejection from foreign cells such as in organ transplants. Stem cells by nature can take on the traits of many kinds of cells and then rep... More About: Arthritis , Stem Cells , Save

2008-04-27 06:04:00 Pet Food Maker Cannot Transport Pet Food Says FDA The pet food manufacturer Evanger’s Dog and Cat Food Company Incorporated has been ordered by the FDA to produce an Emergency permit to transport low acid pet food products from state to state.
