More articles from this author:2007-04-27 12:56:00 A quick story for your amusement...A couple of weeks ago I was out on a shoot in the Camera Club studio. I was using an eBay radio slave to trigger the strobes. I had just replaced the batteries in both the transmitter and receiver and had even done a mod to extend the transmitting antenna for better reception. It all worked great! I don't think there was a single dark frame (from a misfire) and there were only one or two that had a vignette near the bottom of the frame (which indicates a sync issue - the darker area is the shadow from the shutter curtain). Granted, I wasn't trying to sync faster than 1/125sec, which helps a lot with those units.Fast forward several hours and I'm back at home shooting something else. I'm using two hotshoe flashes for this shoot; one on a stand and another on the floor lighting a background. Things are working OK, save for the fact that now I'm seeing more frequent misfires (no flash) and more sync problems (I was shooting around 1/160sec...
