Inside Wells Cathedral
2009-11-22 23:33:00
Inside Wells CathedralThe rather impressive interior of Well's Cathedral. In the fourteenth century the central piers of the crossing were found to be sinking under the weight of the crossing tower, so the "scissor arches" (inverted strainer arches that are such a striking feature) were inserted to brace and stabilize the piers as a unit.

Eynsford Viaduct
2009-11-18 19:07:00
Eynsford ViaductAccording to <a href="http://www.kentrail.co.uk/&quo t; target="_blank">Kent Rail</a> "the structure was built by the independent ''Sevenoaks Railway'', incorporated in 1859 to link the ''Chatham'' main line with the market town of Sevenoaks. The branch was initially single-track, seeing its first services on 2nd June 1862, but the viaduct was built to accommodate two tracks from the outset, because the line was doubled in the following year. A Maidstone extension from Otford opened on 1st June 1874, this again single-track, but following in the footsteps of the original Bat & Ball line, this was soon doubled, two-track working commencing on 11th August 1875."
Longleat Lioness Number Two
2009-11-17 19:07:00
Longleat Lioness Number Two Lions really are quite lush. I still think I would prefer a crash of rhinos walking about my mansion grounds if I won the lottery to Lions, but they have a certain charm. Of course, I am allergic to cats so the rhinos would be a more sensible choice.

Up The Sky Tower
2009-09-15 21:48:00
Up The Sky Tower Wikipedia says this: "The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located on the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets in the Auckland CBD, Auckland City, New Zealand. It is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere, and the 13th tallest member of the World Federation of Great Towers. Due to its shape and height, especially when compared to the next tallest buildings, it has become an iconic structure in Auckland's skyline."<br /></br>I say: "Oooooo it is well high!"

The White's tree frog is found in the provinces of Western Australia (northern portion), Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales.
