"Cool" game
2007-08-22 01:10:00 A Japanese arm wrestling game is being withdrawn from arcades across the country after three players broke their arms, company officials said. from bbcnews.com"We think that maybe some players get over-excited and twist their arms in an unnatural way," a spokesman said. And what was the answer of the company? The machine isn't that strong, much less so than a muscular man. Even women should be able to beat it," company spokesman Ayano Sakiyama told AP news agency.I love Japan! More About: Cool , Game
The Bourne Ultimatum
2007-08-20 14:44:00 There is one movie that you need to watch this summer and this is the 3rd in the series of Jason Bourne , "The Bourne Ultimatum ". The movie exceeds expectations (as the critics agree) of how an action film should be. The action is extremely fast and continuous without leaving you much chances of taking some breath but it misses all this spying features of its past (as James Bond still does).
Cat senses death...
2007-08-18 16:10:00 A cat has "predicted" the deaths of 25 residents in a nursing home in the US. The residents of Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Rhode Island would be forgiven for getting a little anxious if Oscar was to curl up next to them. Animal behaviour experts in the US say Oscar is probably smelling a chemical given off by the body. And Jacqueline Pritchard, an expert in animal behaviour in the UK, agrees the explanation is biochemical, rather than psychic. "I don't doubt that the cat in this case is sensing death approaching. There's little we really know about it but as the body is shutting down, I could hypothesise that the cat is sensing and smelling the organs shutting down." Dogs, in the other hand, with an acute sense of smell and awareness are known to detect cancer and predict epileptic seizures. from bbcnews.com More About: Death

Buildings from the future
2007-08-13 20:36:00 30 St Mary Axe: Better known as the Gherkin to locals, this Norman Foster design has quickly become part of the London skyline. Its energy-saving techniques - including natural ventilation and insulation created by huge shafts that run up and down the 41 floors - make it highly efficient, using around half the energy a typical tower would consume. Photograph: Frank Baron/Guardian(picture in the right)Stata Center: Iconic architect Frank Gehry was employed to build this, a modern centrepiece to the campus of the Massachussets Institute of Technology. Full of angles and empty spaces, the building appears to be collapsing into itself before reaching up into two independent towers. And if the building itself isn't advanced enough for you, then look inside: it is home to the university's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab. I'm "Lost"
2007-08-13 17:16:00 These days, except of reading slowly (it extends the pleasure) the 7th book of Harry Potter, I'm watching the 2nd and 3rd season of "Lost " series. And what I can say is that I'm absolutely thrilled, first with the script (these guys are writing a movie for each episode) and second with the performances of the actors. Everything fascinates me and I'm still in the middle of the 2nd season. I hope I will finish it before I enter the army in 28th of the month :-)

"Milk or gold?" China says: "I'll better take the first"
2007-08-08 04:52:00 You liked the title eh? It's silly actually. What is interesting is that China is becoming more and more used to "Western" habits as it is the drinking of milk!"I have a dream to provide every Chinese, especially children, sufficient milk each day" ... said the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao but what's wrong with that? Except that it sounds like a dream from another century it will may shift the prices of milk elsewhere in the planet:According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, China's consumption of milk has gone from 26 kilocalories per person per day in 2002 to 43 in 2005. Westerners consume many times more, but their demand is stable. from bbcnews.comYou see, China's population adapts new habits that may cause "seismic shifts elsewhere".Milk , enjoy it while it's affordable :-) More About: Gold
The largest known planet discovered!

I miss you guys...
2007-08-06 01:47:00 Tonight I'm in my hometown Serres and the whole day rains! If it was raining like that in Ankara there wouldn't be any water problem for the rest of the year. Generally I love rain even in the middle of summer (especially because my vacations are partly over :-). But by listening the sound of the water dropping in my garden and by contacting with some friends via facebook I started getting sentimental. I remembered all these wonderful days in Istanbul, Amsterdam and Brussels with my dear classmates from the MA in European Studies program of Bogazici University. Almost a year passed since we graduated... All my classmates were so beautiful (inside and outside) and our connection was magical. We were a real team. I remember the jokes of Cagri, the sweetness of TugceBingul, the friendship of Mine, the politeness of Umut, the sex-appeal of Sena, the genius mind of Alp, the leadership of Pelin, the smile of Hande Ozhabes, the laughter of Zeynep, the absence of Kivanc ;-), the pa... Chill out and enjoy. . .
2007-08-05 15:38:00 When I'm home I prefer listening web radio and always one specific radio station. Chill out lounge radio (especially with the good quality version of winamp). It plays the best -needless to say- chillout music and it makes you feel good. Somehow it throws away any bad feelings, anxiety and boredom and your head feels clean and refreshed (it's like a shampoo commercial).Try it and you will feel the difference after the first wash ;-)Cheers More About: Enjoy , Chill out

Greek frappé coffee
2007-07-19 18:34:00 I would like to write some words for the "national drink of Greek s"! I'm not exhaggerating. It is like this. I think that 90% of Greeks drink this more than couple of times per day. Turks and English have tea, Italians have espresso but Greeks drink frappé. I'm not a fan of this drink (I prefer green tea) but I think it's interesting to share frappé's history with you :-) Here it is:Greek frappé or Nescafé frappé is a foam-covered cold coffee drink made from spray-dried instant coffee. It is very popular in Greece especially during summer but has now spread to other countries.Frappé dates back to the 1957 International Trade Fair in Thessaloniki. The representative of the Nestlé company, Yannis Dritsas, was exhibiting a new product for children, a chocolate beverage produced instantly by mixing it with milk and shaking it in a shaker. Dritsas' employee Dimitris Vakondios was looking for a way to have his usual instant coffee during his break but he could not find any hot... More About: Coffee

Freedom
2007-07-18 15:48:00 Freedom is the ability to act without restraint, or the ability to have access to particular resources without constraint. (from wikipedia) In my case things seem different these days. This was not the case for 7 years now since I started studying away from my family. I had full freedom of my actions, from everyday stuff (I was responsible for cleaning MY house, cooking for ME etc.) to paying my own bills and buying the staff I fancy without asking for permissions. But it seems that this is period is over (at least for now). I was talking with a friend from my mobile and my father got angry because I was talking "too much"! This was a big shock for me. First I realized that I'm 14 (and not 24) and second that I'm incapable to cover my own expenses until I'll finish with the army and find a proper job. My father apologized 15 mins later for the way he talked but still, these 15 mins of "lost freedom" were enough for me. And I'm currently thinking of all those people that liv... More About: Freedom
Goodbye Istanbul
2007-07-16 17:22:00 Yesterday I left Istanbul after 2 years of happiness and I'm now back to Greece to my home city (Serres). I'm getting ready for the army. It was very painful experience the time I was leaving my flat in Cihangir and I saw it empty. But it was not the flat that I was connected to. The reasons of the complete psychological breakdown I experienced the minutes before I pass the door were more complicated. The empty house represented my exit from the city I loved the most! It represented the numerous happy times I had there and the few sad moments. I'm sure that everything will gonna be alright and I will return back after the completion of my military obligation. But for now I cannot say that it will be easy... I prefer not to say "goodbye Istanbul"... but see you soon... More About: Goodbye

Introduction...
2007-07-09 12:39:00 ... or How you keep in touch with your friends while you are in the army. I decided to start writing this blog one month ago after a crazy idea I had. I bought a new mobile phone (with decent camera and internet capabilities) to have a piece of modernity in my hands while I will be on a mountain (or wherever they will send me to serve my country in the army - I'm entering this August). But I realized that I can actually do something fun with it while I will be away from my friends. I can take photos with the phone's camera and send them directly to a blog of mine. What if I was taking one picture every day or so while I will be there? Why not share my completely new experience via a personal photo blog? And that's what exactly I'm planning to do... I will take pictures from my experiences, I will send them to this blog alongside with a text with my thoughts and share everything (?) with you and (why not?) with the w...
