Instead of making a career of dance, however, she became a high school and later university teacher of English with a love of gardening. When her early interest in photography at last culminated in a decision to make photography her career, her interest in dance and gardens also coalesced in her primary subject matters: the formal beauty of bodies and flowers. Brigitte's painted gelatin silver images are in private and corporate collections in the US and abroad. Stanton gained popularity while he was serving in the U.S. Navy by drawing his scantily-clad heroines on his fellow sailors' handkerchiefs. From 1958 to 1966, Stanton shared a studio with his friend and colleague Steve Ditko, the well-known artist who created Spiderman. Eric Stanton drew his pictures in India Ink, and they were then hand-colored by Ditko. In addition to his cover designs for erotic magazines and novels, Stanton became well-known for his mail-order picture stories, which he customized to the indivual preferences of his clients. Eric Stanton passed away on March 17, 1999. He will always be remembered as one the founding fathers of fetish art as well as a pioneer in the erotic art world today.
