Erawan Shrine in Bangkok
2008-05-29 19:40:00
The Erawan Shrine (in Thai called "San Pra Phom) is located beside the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel area and it's close to Central World, the Police Hospital, Gaysorn Plaza, BTS station, etc. Many people and travelers visit the Erawan Shrine in order to pay the homage to the Pra Bhom and they also make wishes about love, money, family, etc.I had a chance to take some photos because I attended my training course in the Marriott Hotel on Sukhumvit Rd so I had free time in the evening to take photos from this place.I will continue posting some photos from The Erawan Shrine : )For more information please see from these following links:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erawan _Shrinehttp://www.thailandguidebook.com/e rawanshrine.htmlHave a nice day.Cheers,DSM

ABC Wednesday - P = Playing in The Fun Park at Night Time
2008-05-07 12:04:00
My ABC Wednesday was named as "P=Playing in The Fun Park at Night Time ". I took those photos at the Coca Cola Festival held in Bangkok last month.I used very slow shutter speed about 4-30 seconds and rested my camera on a tripod so that I would get nice and sharp photos with beautifully moving light. You can take the photos like mine by using either a compact digital camera or a DSLR. The only thing you need is a tripod because you can not steadily hold your camera for long time. If you use the tripod, you will get the sharp of the stable objects and you will also capture the moving light at the same time. Please visit http://mrsnesbittsplace.blogspot.com/ and say hello to our ABC Wednesday friends : )

The Giant Swing Series (Part 1)
2008-04-29 08:38:00
The Giant Swing was originally constructed in 1784 in front of the Devasathan shrine by King Rama I. During the reign of Rama II the swing ceremony was discontinued as the swing had become structurally damaged by lightning. In 1920 it was renovated and moved to its current location in order to make space for a gas plant. The ceremony was again performed until 1935, when it was discontinued after several fatal accidents. The last renovations were done in 1959, and after 45 years of exposure to the elements the wooden pillars were showing signs of serious damage. A major reconstruction began in April 2005. Six teak tree trunks were used. The two used for the main structure of the swing are over 3.5m in circumference and over 30m in height. The remaining four are used for support and are 2.30m in circumference and 20m in height.[1] The swing was taken down in late October 2006 and the work finished late December of the same year. The rebuilt swing was dedicated in royal ceremonies pres...

ฺำฺBeautiful Bangsean
2008-04-01 03:39:00
Bangsean locates in Chonburi provice, Thailand. It is pretty close to Bangkok and you can spend 1-1.5 hrs drive from Bangkok to Bangsean. Moreover, the scenery is very beautiful; therefore, Thais and foreigners love to visit there on weekend. My sister, my friend and I went to Bangsean last 2 weeks to take some photographs. We planed to go there late afternoon because we could get sunset photos. My sister shot some photos. For this photo, I change WB (tungsten) to change the color tone.In the evening, a fisherman went home happily after he sold his fish, squids and shells. This shot is my last shot of the day (long shutter speed = 1 min).I still have some photos from Bangsean and I will post them later.Cheers,DSM

ABC Wednesday ... I
2008-03-18 23:27:00
ABC Wednesday = "I - Incedible Nikon D3" I had a chance to go to Kinon Day 2008 in BKK and tried NikonD3 , the first Nikon Full Fram DSLR 35mm format, with AF 500 mm F4 AF-S.I felt very good when I shoot the photos with D3. The photos from D3 with 500 mm lens at 800 ISO were vey nice because there is a few noise in the photos. The photos are bright and sharp. However, I can not buy it because the cost is very expensive (12,200 US $ camera and lens). Anyway, if you have a chance, please try to shoot the photos with D3 and you will feel as same as what I feel. Please see other ABC Wednesday participants at http://mrsnesbittsplace.blogspot.com/ .Cheers,DSMThis photos were photographed with D3+500 mm lense at ISO 800. The photo quaility is excellent. If you are interested in the full size JPG photo, please shoot me an email to ericx_cu@hotmail.com.

Test EF 70-200 F2.8 L
2008-03-04 01:02:00
My friend let me test his lens EF-70-200 F2.8 L last Saturday. It's very excellent lens, good optical, good build quality, great color tone, etc but it is pretty heavy, 1.3 kg for lens only. I wish I could have the professional lens like this : )I also had a chance to test this lens by shooting portrait. I pushed ISO to 1600 but I still had shutter speed around 1/40 - 1/60 sec. Therefore, some photos may not sharp due to not enough shutter speed for handheld. I recommend that if you are interested in the zoom lens, please consider Image Stabilizer (IS) / Vibration Reduction (VR) lens or something that equivalent. It can help you for taking photos in low light environment.Cheers,DSM

?Another story of Bang Pu, Thailand (Let's Fly In The Sky)
2008-02-29 19:38:00
I take a lot of Sea Gull photos at Bang Pu, Thailand , where is located on Sukhumvit Road Km#37 opposite to Bang Pu Industrial Estate. Normally, we can see them from November to April every year. They normally lay their egg and incubate their eggs in summer time around the lakes in Tibet/Mongolia. When the new sea gulls grow enough, they and their parents will fly from Tibet/Mongolia to India Ocean, Gulf of Thailand, etc (down south) where are warmer for seeking food. They will seek a mate around Feburay and they will migrate back to the lakes in Tibet/Mongolia in order to breed and lay their eggs.I will try to post these Seagull Photo, Let's Fly In The Sky Series, into 3 Parts. To be continued tomorrow. Most of my photos are in wall paper size 1024x768 so you can download and set as your computer wallpaper.I've plan to distribute my photos via email so if you are interested in my photo mail list please send your email to my email ericx_cu@hotmai.comCheers,DSM

Thai Rural Life Part 2
2008-02-25 16:25:00
Thai culture and people life in rural area are related to agriculture especially rice farming. Farmers are one of the most important people in Thailand. Most of Thai people eat rice as main dish.People in countryside live as big family so there are about +10 people each family. Moreover, they live as villages so they help each other to grow the rice and farm plants. For this reason, they have really a good relationship among each other. They really care about each people and always help other people.Water buffalos are the mascot of Thai farmer. They help farmers to dig the earth in fields so rice seeds can be planted and they also are the good friends with children. People in country side have the relationship between themselves and water resources as lakes and rivers for entire of their life because of the agriculture life. Children swim in the river and splash water to their friend. People transfer water to the gardens and rice farms. You can see the green rice farms from May to...
