ABC Wednesday -- My Z lion needing zzz.....
2008-01-17 05:10:00 Photo taken with Pentax SMC FA 28-80 power zoomMy cutest Z lion needing zzz......We have the best new year celebration in taking a Bart train to San Francisco on the Powell exitand we walked from downtown San Francisco Financial district to Fisherman Wharf. My Z lion is yearning needing some zzz along the train ride on Bart. But he was fine as soon as we got off from the station and see the city nice view in comfortable sunlight. And upon the third hotels that we visited and asked for a room to stay overnight, we got the last room in Wharf Inn and later we saw this New Year Eve scenery in Fisherman Wharfwith Pentax FA 50 f/1.4with Pentax FA 50 f/1.4and with fireworks on New Year in Ferry building. It was a very romantic evening for me though the boys got too tired and they stayed on bed while I ventured out the last hour for a photo shoot of fireworks walking from Pier 39 to Pier 5 to catch the fireworks without use of tripod. I was unprepared for the overnight stay and everythin... More About: Lion , Wednesday

This it the best New Year celebration that I have with my beloved family. We took the Bart to San Francisco and went cold turkey asking for a room to stay overnight and I hugged my worrisome wife to let us do something spontaneous and I am so glad that she said yes to me and hence the fun with Fisherman Wharf, Cable car, Pier 39, the Sea Lions in Pier 39, the Bart, the China Town, the Fireworks on Perry building, and all the walking. Vivitar 28-210 Macro Zoom Test Shots
2007-12-28 03:04:00 I sold this lens to another Pentaxian for cheap, roughly $30 just for the lens. And I sold it with a 72mm polarizer and a 72mm UV filter. Though the lens is not very sharp wide open, I can attest that with proper stop down on apertures, it is quite a fine zoom lens for the money. If you see the lens under $50, I would recommend it as a outdoor zoom lens that one can practice on manual focusing. The lens comes in the heavy side and its minimal focusing length is about 7 to 8 feet on the focal zoom range from 28mm to 200mm and it is not quite usable for indoor shooting. But for outdoor with flower and longer distance to object and the use of 210mm focal length, the zoom is quite usable and the zoom ring is great for manual focusing. One caveat noted with the zoom ring is that it is heavy and can slide zooming in and out without a zoom lock and it may be difficult to use for some situations that need a tilted angle. If you hold it in your hand, that is not an issue but it is imp... More About: Zoom , Shots , Test , Macro

2007-12-19 08:51:00 Merry Christmas to you allI am grateful all year and as the Christmas Holiday approaches and I reflect upon all things that have happened this year, I find joy and excitement that fill my heart to the deepest void that I sometimes have with doubt, uncertainty, grudges, and despair with struggles.Thank you for visiting my blog page and share with me on my learning experience with Photography. 2007-12-19 05:02:00 Photos taken with Pentax FA 50 f/1.4Letter 'V' gives me the most problems and hence some old photos for the post. My little one has some violent moments while enjoying his pot stickers in a Korean restaurant.I have been leaving a comment to Mrs. Nesbitt asking the whereabout of WalksFarWoman as I have been missing her in all recent ABC Wednesday events since her 'S' post in late November. Her blog in wordpress.com has been deleted and I can't find her anywhere in BlogCatalog or MyBlogLog, and Technorati profile. She is my best friend in the blogging community and a greatly admired writer that I always look up to for inspiration and insights into life with a positive attitude in her poetic writing. I truly pray that she is well and I dearly miss her tonight in posting my 'V' post. I am asking all who knows about WalksFarWoman to make a sincere prayer for her. Warning on Bower M42 adapter
2007-12-15 03:39:00 Pentacon 50mm f/1.8 converted to K mount Bower adapter with clip removedI don't need any mounting and dismounting for my M42 lens anymore as I turn them into a K mounted lens. And the RED dot in the adapter will work just like any K mounted lens. I think I can no longer recommend the Bower adapter anymore as an alternative choice to the genuine Pentax adapter as the clipping mechanism gets worn out easily that may get you a stuck adapter permanently onto your K100/10D bodies. Pentax M42 adapters - Hin's Tech Corner http://techtheman.blogspot.com/2007/09/pe ntax-m42-adapters.html Though the Bower adapter shares the same mechanics as the genuine adapter, it has a very fragile clipping plate with a small screw that are worn very easily and I got my adapter stuck on the K mount socket in K100D body yesterday night. Ouuuch, but luckily I found a way to free the dislocated clip in the stuck adapter along with the tiny screw that you are likely to lose when it gets warn out. If the scr... 2007-12-12 03:45:00 Ultrapod II with Vivitar 28mm f/2.5I highly recommend this inexpensive mini-tripod with Ultrapod II that I purchased from REI for $15.00. It is very small and lightweight. I enjoyed the model train show very much and the museum has great display of history and artifacts related to train and railway operation.I can't wait to bring my younger boy to see it on June 1st as the weekly opening will not have 15 model trains replica of new and old trains running in the track for display for the public to enjoy. Jogging is not one of exercises that I truly enjoy but he has helped me changed my view. Thanks to my buddy and it was the best memorable time that I had in jogging with him late in the afternoon around a hilly loop next to our office campus. Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5
2007-11-20 03:26:00 Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5 in M42 mountI really like the original case I finally managed to get a super takumar and I am very impressed with the quality of the lens. The pictures come out quite sharp. But the lens is an M42 mount lens and I paid $45 for it. And the lens come with the bowers m42 to K adapter. And I paid $20 with shipping on a previous purchase of a brand new bowers m42 adapter from BHPhoto. So the lens roughly cost me $28.00 + shipping. Not bad for the Super Takumar lens. I have a Takumar 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 lens which does not have the coating as in the Super Takumar and the image quality is not as nice as this prime lens.Saturday BreakfastI got the coffee & brocolisegg, cheese, toast go to my boysOverall, I am very impressed with the image quality. Albinar 28mm f/2.8 Macro Test Shots
2007-11-19 10:26:00 Abinar 28mm f/2.8 Macor ($11)I don't know much about Macro and I have been loving my $11 Albin ar 28mm f/2.8 with Macro from eBay. It is made in Korea and I mention in previous post of $1K lens & $2K body in slr. And it gets the marking of 1:10, 1:8, 1:5, 1:4, the closest distance seem to be around 6" and so far I have pretty satisfied close up shots with it. I am newbie to Macro and I don't have any macro in my other lens and it is kind of odd to have macro at 28mm as I don't see it that often but I always see the popular ones as in 90mm, 105mm, 50mm and 200mm. Schnieder 135mm f/3.5
2007-11-17 16:44:00 I got a schneider 135mm f/3.5 on a m42 mount and I got it as a gift from my eldest brother about 25 years ago when he gave me a Praktica film camera. I was not aware that my schneider 135mm along with a Pentacon 50mm f/1.8 and a Praktica 28-70 are all m42 lens sharing the same mount as m42 used in Pentax. I tired the Pentacon which is quite awesome except the metering needing a +1.7Ev compensation. And last weekend, I tied my Schneider 135mm f/3.5, and here are snapshots around my neighbor's fence and red leaves.I am very lucky to have this lens. The lens is a shear beauty to use and to look at, a very unique antique like with shape and stiff focusing ring that I find it a challenge to use but I am in awe withthe lens. Mistakes on focusing is all mine, and I can't wait to use it in better framing and better subject of a picture instead of snapshotting without a purpose. When time allows, I will post picture of the beautiful Schnieder 135mm f/3.5 for you all.
$1K lens & $2K body in SLR
2007-11-16 19:49:00 I think a bit different than others and it does not mean that I am better. Just that I may be a person with lots of emotions and I love history of cameras and hence having film cameras around is a great blessing and a wonderful thing for me. As you can tell, I love cheap and quality together. A wishful thinking one may say. And while the rest are after the $1k lens and $2k camera body, I lust for the $11 lens and $20 camera. How can that be possible? Look no further but my recent purchase:1. $11 Albinar 28mm f/2.8 Macro vs Pentax FA 312. $20 pentax pz-10 vs Canon 5DOf course there is no comparison from the ridiculous pair that I make up in the analogy above. I like to think of the positives as my amateur skills can't justify to have expensive equipments that I can't afford. And I heard from others that there are photog business required to take certain photo in film such as those for a large poster and b&w. I may not know the reason in detail but if the 'pro...
