2007-09-09 17:34:00 Left: 3rd pary adapter like Bowers from BHPhotoRight: Genuine Penta x adapterLeft to Right1. Tool for 3rd party adapter2. Genuine Pentax adapter not needing tool3. General adapter such as Bowers from BHPhotoAll pictures are courtesy of Pete from Pentaxforums. And I have purchased the Bowers adapter from BHPhoto that comes with the removal tool that I need to use in dismounting adapter from the k mount. Both of the above adapters are completely flushed onto the k mount and they have no issue with infinity focus. My personal experience with the Bowers has been positive though the first few times in dismounting is kind of awkward without the knowledge and information on dismounting. The Bowers adapter do not come with instructions. Please use the following pointers to get informed about the adapters. The following are links and related posts for information with M42 adapter:PentaxScrewMountAdapters -- very useful to read for installationKnowledge on M42 in Pentaxforums -- very usefu...

PayPerPost 1st Review
2007-09-06 20:53:00 This is my first review post after signing up with PayPerPost. Ever since hitting the $100 mark from AdSense on July 31, 2007. I am renewed with energy and a mission in rolling out AdSense $100 Movement. My blog page has increased in traffic and I am looking to diversifying advertisement streams after AdSense with AdBrite, AuctionAds, Commission Junction, ContentLinks with Kontera and last but not least, PayPerPost. I was rejected 4 days after application with a notice from PayPerPost saying that I don't have Archive link in my blog. I logged support request right after. And one week after application and a support ticket requesting review for approval, I finally get approved. Their custom support is working and the ticketing system for support shows quick turnaround on blocking issues.I am still exploring the program. So far, I really like visiting the home page of PayPerPost and browse around potential products and opportunities that I can offer my honest opinions with a ... More About: Review , Payperpost

Gymboree Girl
2007-09-05 10:28:00 Picture was taken by Casio ex-z750 and'pp' with Picasa Focal B&WIt was roughly a year ago when I felt very passionate about taking photos with my Casio ex-z750 that I did a blog post on Photography Passion and Digital Passion afterwards and a year has gone by and my love in photography has not diminished. This picture does bring back my vivid memory of starting my digital path with Casio, followed by Fuji and now Pentax. And now my camera bag is much heavier than my little and pocket-able Casio. Life is more fun and complicated at the same time. The Gymboree Girl was shot while visiting shopping mall around Halloween time and it was taken through the glass window in a Gymboree store. Picture was post processed in Picasa with Focal B&W.Links:BlogCatalog discussionLast week on 'F'Picasa Focal B&WPhotograph ABC on 9/05/2007: View to Garage | Gymboree Girl | Gertrude Jekyll |Goathland | Golden Retriever | Glory Glory Hallelujah |Guitar | Garden Gate | Geese |Gargoyle | G...
Thoughts on Pentax DA 18-55
2007-09-05 01:23:00 I want to put my thoughts on DA 18-55 after owning it for close to 6 months with my Penta x K100D. I recommend it especially for persons newer to dSLR. The caveat that I will put in is whether you plan to upgrade quickly for better image quality. If you plan to upgrade in about 2 to 3 months to something much more expansive and of higher quality, then I would suggest you to jump directly to the better gear such as Sigma 17-70, Tamron 28-75 or Pentax 28-105 f/3.2-4.5 or some others all-in-one zoom recommended by others such as Tamron/Sigma 18-125. But if you are new comers to dslr such as my path from p&s to dSLR with no prior experience with SLR, I highly recommend the kit's lens. It is very good for the price and as a newbie to dSLR, I have no complaint but whining for perfection with my limited skills to work with the gear.#1#2#3#4#5 1/2 sec, f/4.5, 38mm, iso 200, -1/2 EVI believe that if I can't work out a reasonable picture with the most basic gear, getting the more expen... Picasa Highlight in B&W
2007-09-03 09:14:00 Picasa Highlight with partial blownoutPicasa Highlight with full blownout on backgroundI just learn from forum that blownout background works better in b&w photo. It is especially effective to bring out a person in the foreground. I try it with a variation on previous blownout attempt and redo the highlighting on a focal b&w conversion in Picasa. Here are the final results of different degree of blownout of the backlit background. And I do have a sample a blownout sample using Picasa highlight on a person but it may not be a good sample as the original photo in color seems better than the b&w conversionPicasa Filtered B&W (forget the color channel I chose)Original color in backlitHope readers can comment on what they think as the better one among the two sets of pictures with various blownout effects.Related Posts:Picasa TutorialsPicasa HistogramPicasa 'I am feeling lucky'Picasa HighlightPicasa Highlight in Equal ExhibitionPicasa TintMy Kids' Bathing Toy More About: Picasa , Pica , Icas
Picasa Highlight
2007-08-31 23:12:00 I compose the following shots based on learning from other in forum discussion. Thanks to Millar for the tips and suggestions to make this possible. I don't have Photoshop to post process the image to wash out the background, I use Pica sa Highlight to achieve similar effectOriginal without any post processingUsing Picasa Hightlight in Tuning section, I adjust both Highlight and Lighting until the background is blown out in white light. Use Picasa sizing slider zoom and histogram to watch the changes in 100% crop so as not to blow out the picture details by the adjustment.Final versionWhile in Picasa with 100% crop and histogram in place and notice that I adjust the slider bar on bottom right to the middle indicator to achieve 100% cropslider in middle at 100% cropHistogram at normal cropFew pointers worth noting:Aim object against back lit environmentUse spot metering to get accurate exposure on the subjectAdjust highlight with histogram and watch the change in 100% crop to avo...
