2009-07-29 16:12:00
25 July 2009 - Malam Mesra Kesihatan Anjuran PEKAKES 2009It's been ages since i last blogged, probably i lost my usual passion to something else... or probably i dont have so much time for blogging anymore.. or maybe i spent too much time working?! anyway, here's a post after 6 months on silence...Thanks to Mr SuKeat, i was "forced" to be part of a choir for the dinner night at MS Garden Hotel held by PEKAKES (Persatuan Kakitangan Kesihatan) for JKNP (Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pahang).. anyway, it's a good experience for us all. we just sang two songs (Kau Ilhamku & Heal the world) in front of our Pengarah Kesihatan Negeri and all TPKN(s), especially our boss TPKN(F)..Team members are (left to right): PuiYee, MengGo, myself, SuKeat, PekLeng & Christine. After the dinner we had a group photo with our boss..Hope that everyone in the dinner enjoy the songs :P

Still hesitating on coming to Kuantan to work?! here's some nice waterfalls at close proximity to Kuantan city.. pristine clear waterfalls that situated nearby to the city with proper managed campsite for overnight stay.. not bad huh? Some of the nice place to hang out after a whole week's work..Sg Pandan waterfalls is very near to Kuantan airport.. you can reach this place in not more than 30 minutes from Kuantan city centre.. you will notice lots of families visiting this place over the weekend..the waterfall is quite tall.. there are few 'stage' before reaching the base.. but yet you can not fully see where is it coming from.. because it is blocked by the few 'stages' of waterfall...Mr William Tong is my best companion over the weekend in Kuantan.. Never fail to accompany me when i am really alone in Kuantan..He is still a bachelor.. Masai queen are you still interested? if not we will open this guy for the others.. :Pa small campfire were made over the night and we had a m...

Sg Lembing 4th times!
2008-12-08 01:42:00
18 Oct 2008Imagine! This is actually the fourth time i climbed Lembing Hill/Bkt Panorama... i think i out-climbed most of the younger generations of Kuantan people.. Younger people tends not to climb mountains nowadays.. hmm.. why is that happening? Am i growing old?!The sunrise is still the best reward for every climber to this hill! Being the hike "sweeper", i arrived really late.. but i was still rewarded with this spectacular view.. although i didn't get to see the early part of this sunrise.. but it still worth the hike up the hill.Dear HP is looking at birds from afar...Some of the my new colleagues in HTAA.. all pharmacists..After that, we had a nice breakfast 'tofu' or 'tauhuei' break at Sg Lembing.. it is still one of the best tofu on earth.. of coz, made with the mountain spring water of Sg Lembing.. :PLater on we headed to the Museum.. which mainly shows the significant role of Sg Lembing as a former biggest city in Pahang and its underground tin mine.. Now, Sg Lembi...

CBK gathering 2008
2008-11-15 19:17:00
5-6 September 2008It's been 6 weeks since my last update.. normally i will at least update once per week.. too bad i was too busy as a ward pharmacist.. lots of homebound preparations to do before settling into the ward everyday.. Continuous learning is very important throughout my job.. With the whole abundant quota to finish throughout the 6 weeks time plus counselings, CP1, clerking, dispensing, presentation, relieving other stations.. etc.. all these has been wearing me down, i was constantly tired for the whole 6 weeks.. However, all these hard work was worthwhile.. i felt that i have progress much further in terms of skills and knowledge.. with guided learning by seniors and ward rounds.. it has given me much benefit and knowledge..Finallly 6 weeks has ended, i am back to a healthy lifestyle.. hopefully, my next station will not be as busy as the last one..CBK gathering was held two months ago.. at Bkt Sekilau, Kuantan.. most of the CBK of JBC E1/F2 attended it.. with the exc...
Orang Utan-ed
2008-10-04 18:10:00
As promised, here's the post on Orang utans and only Orang Utans... Been doing on call for this whole week.. was quite tired everyday.. hopefully, everything goes right for my last two days..Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary is somehow a rehabilitation centre for orphaned orang utans, training centre for them to survive again in the wild and get release when they are ready to live in the wild by themselves.. it is situated around 30mins drive from Sandakan city centre, beside Sepilok forest reserve.. it is really nice to know more about mankind closest relative - Orang Utan..The first series are photos of some young teenage orang utans during feeding time..Don't you think Orang Utan(s) could be very good in gymnastics? Some are just too lazy to climb around, they prefer to sit there and just eat their sugar cane..Orang utans have extremely strong feet and hands.. the main assets to 'fly' around the trees...A close-up view of a orang utan's foot..A series of babies orang utan.. enjoy....

There are more stories on the "Land Below the Wind" in attractions such as Agnes Newton Keith's house and Sandakan Museum.. (p/s: "Land Below the Wind" actually refering to Sabah itself)Stay tuned for more Orang Utan(s).. :P Will be doing On-call starting tomorrow for the whole Hari Raya week.. hopefully, everyone is healthy for the festival instead of going to hospital.. In order to reduce my workload during the week.. :P

Gunung Senyum, Termeloh
2008-09-26 12:13:00
17 September 2008 - Gunung Senyum, TermelohRemember Gua Charas? Gua Charas is another cave i went during April this year, which is somewhere middle on the road to Sg Lembing.. Gua Charas is nothing when compare to Gunung Senyum.. It is well managed and much cleaner.. the limestone formings are much beautiful as well.. However, most of the formed stalactites and stalagmides are dead.. because there are not forming anymore.. no water drippings.. and most of the caves are relatively dry.. Check out Dark Caves at Batu Caves... those stalactites and stalagmides are still 'wet' and 'growing'.. as well as the gour pools.. (view video) It is really amazing to see how they actually formed over thousands of years.. some of the formings are really fragile and we shouldn't touch them, as it will take another few thousands years to form again.. (wikipedia)A group photo at the entrance to the caves.. most of them are pharmacist and my seniors.. I can be considered as the youngest in the gro...
TC Mid Autumn Festival
2008-09-23 18:26:00
14 Sep 2008 - Kuantan Teluk Cempedak Mid Autumn Festival Han Ping and Shal Ling brought me along to the annual Mid Autumn festival/Mooncake festival event at Teluk Cempedak.. the nearest beach from Kuantan City (around 5km distance from city centre)..At first glance, the crowd really amazed me, i never thought that it there would be so many people gathered at the same time.. Families & friends gathered at the beach making their own sand sculptures in combination with tanglung and candles.. very spectacular view..This is only part of the view.. imagine the whole stretch of beach were full with people making their own 'sand-candle' castle?!HanPing, ShalLing and myself..This is only a quarter view of the beach.. there are even more people at the other end of the beach..Hundreds of artistic artworks can be found along the beach... such as..Simple ones like this smiling face.. and..fish?!Or complicated ones like this tanglung tree with 7 wells underneath..some of the activities suit...
Malaysia Day!
2008-09-15 21:16:00
Today's Malaysia Day, the official anniversary where Malaysia were formed 1963 joining Malaya Peninsula, North Borneo (Sabah), Sarawak and Singapore.. (quote Wikipedia)Truly a historical day, but why were it not a public holiday throughout these 45 years? Will there be another historical "Malaysia Day" this morning? Hopefully everything will turn out to the right thing for all of us.. Just found out that the first prime minister of Singapore - Lee Kuan Yew born on the same day years earlier (1923).. such a coincident.. those who study history should know that Singapore have such an important yet disharmony relationship with Malaysia.. reasons? too much to mention...Noticed a symbol resembles part of our national flag last night... although there were only 7 spikes on the star which was only half the number that it suppose to be.. :PIf you are chinese, you should be able to identify the following symbol.. unless you are a 'banana'.. :PWishes everyone a Happy MoonCake Festival / ...
Korean Dinner
2008-09-12 19:10:00
23 August 2008 - Korean dinner at Ampang After attending the convocation.. i brought YauShin aka Ron back to my Puchong house to have a 'wee' rest before heading to KLCC to meet up with Acrix, YeeWen and PeiSung aka shanshao... Then we head on to this Korean restaurant some where around Ampang Great Eastern Mall... it is an area sort of a 'small Korean town'.. with various Korean shops and restaurants..Pretty 'Korean' look aye?The charcoal used for the daging salai.. pretty amazing to see how they use gas to control the conbustion of the charcoal..this kind of BBQ aka 'salai' method gives the advantage of controlling the heat of the fire and also give the 'daging salai' a little bit of 'BBQ taste'..The daging salai of the day..This is still 'mentah', but it was cooked within minutes..The best part of Korean cuisine - you will get a whole lots of side dishes..AND the good news is that these side dishes are free!My main dish.. Bibimbap..Bibimbap means stone pot rice.. it...

23 August 2008 - P105 graduation Sheraton Hotel SubangWent to attend juniors graduation at Sheraton Subang.. Acrix, PeiSung and YeeWen were there as well.. just sharing some photos.. if you are not satisfied with the photos, kindly request personally from me.. :PThe King and the Queen..My mentee got Distinction degree.. as if i had helped her a lot.. the truth was not.. :PJust like any IMU graduations... there will be more than double the amount of people attending.. kiasu-ism is a common phenomenon..This phenomena is particularly obvious with the graduands' friends and family.. they will take as much food as they could and pretend to be innocent.. as shown in YeeWen's and PeiSung's facial expressions..Our favourite PP3 prescribing "doctor" and "patient".. Dr James Johnson..And also various other photos... lazy to put all in, just put a small version in one whole big photo..Adios~

I am a pharmacist, I have no life!
2008-08-31 13:04:00
20-22 August 2008The quote "I am a pharmacist, I have no life" has been confusing a lot people.. Especially those who are going to be a pharmacist or waiting to be posted to any of the tertiary hospital around malaysia.. To be honest.. it was just a simple quote with not much "isi tersirat".. if you don't understand.. please check your Malay dictionary... if you still don't understand.. please kindly ask Mr FRP Sabah JoeQuah.. :PFYI, i took a three-days leave and went back to KL for a holiday last week.. it's been a while since i really had a good rest.. been doing on call for 2 consecutive weeks before this.. 3rd call & 2nd call.. it means that i didn't have any weekend rest for two weeks.. You might be thinking that finally i could take a good 5 days rest, but it's not in my casePacked up my stuffs and drove back to KL on Wednesday morning.. Reached KL home at roughly noon.. Vacuum my car and took a little rest and went to nearby mamak to have a late lunch 4pm.. At night,...

2008-08-27 20:17:00
(video was removed to prevent auto loading of the video, those who are interested can kindly click on the picture itself to link to the video itself, thanks)Just a short video to show you all what are the simple methods and precautions to save our turtles... This simple cartoon documentary shows the simple precautions that can be taken account when you are at the beach, especially during the turtles nesting season.. Just make sure that you all do not eat any turtles' eggs as well.. turtles eggs are particularly precious.. why? because every thousand hatchlings, it is estimated that only one turtle will live until adulthood.. How bout the percentage of eggs being successfully hatched? particularly compromised by human activities at the shore?!Been alone over the weekend, to do 2nd call at the hospital.. had quite considerable amount of samples analysed and interpreted over the two days.. particularly today, lots of complicated problematic cases.. it is really boring this weekend, we...

Bkt Sekilau..
2008-08-13 19:24:00
Bkt Sekilau is a small housing area very near to the city centre of Kuantan.. around 5 minutes to the city centre, 10 minutes to the hospital.. It has been my home for these 5 months.. never really took any photos of the moon over here... Here's a almost full moon photo... another 48x zoom photo taken with FZ-7..It has been a comfortable home.. home dinner, complete facilities, comfy and wide space for my friends to stay over.. Moon cake festival is coming soon in a month.. Brought some memories of my fundraising for Expedition last year... The 1utama event, car wash, jumble sales and certainly everything throughout the 10-week expedition.. Still remember small Eelaine fundraised a considerable amount by just selling homemade mooncakes... Vincent's hot dog eating competition with only Raleigh people competing.. two cars full with watermelons for the watermelon juice stall at Bkt Gasing.. Li Vyen didn't make it to expedition with us because of studies commitments.. of coz.. the one...

2008-08-09 04:02:00
Ever wondered how it would be 100 year later on top of Bukit Panorama Sg Lembing? It might be cooling enough to have ice cap on top of the mountain! Just an imaginery post.. you all can just ignore me..Finally, there is someone more rational and wise in leaving comments.. Lately, I have been receiving nonsense and ridiculous comments on the Guinea Pig ileum wet lab post posted 3 years ago on 19 January 2005.. read it HERE if you are curious of what's happening, especially the comments part...It was started on this January, somebody promoted/advertised my page until so many people came to comment.. either negative of positive (although most were negative).. but most of them left comments anonymously which showed their cowardice in leaving negative comments and swearing..Ever wondered, why guinea pigs? why not dogs, cats or horses? If the photo showed was not a cute guinea pig but a stray dog or cat or horse, would there be any of such negative comments and swearings? Something for u...

Kenali Ubat Anda
2008-08-09 04:00:00
2 August 2008 - Kempen Kenali Ubat Anda !This a campaign held to give awareness to the public on how to identify your medicines, including traditional medicines and cosmetics.. It was held in Kuantan Parade..so coincidently, TV3's Jom Heboh was held on the same day at Padang MPK nearby Kuantan Parade.. most people went over to Jom Heboh instead.. It significantly reduce the number of people in the mall..a short presentation to show the crowd how to recognise your medicines..There were only merely 6 of 7 person watching the presentation.. but yet it was a good effort..These are the unregistered medicines where we 'rampas' from some stores around Pahang.. Some of them containing poisons which not safe to be consume or use.. while some are Sildenafil analogues..Do not blame anyone if you are being sent to the hospital because you consume these medicines..So being a wise consumer, make sure that you know what medicines you consume, even those you got from the clinic.. and also do not ...

YOU'RE ELITE!!
2008-07-24 21:35:00
First of all, let me answer the question i threw out on the last post.. Currently, for pharmacist, there are three types of 'On-call' which all PRPs will take turn to work..First call is known as the primary one, which deal with almost everything including answering midnight calls, emergency TDM level monitoring, and screening at ward supply over the weekend (Saturday & Sunday)..Second call is known as the person who will help the first call to to TDM level monitoring only during the weekends' office hour (10am-3pm)..Third call is known as the person in charge of setting and filling at Methadone Clinic every morning for the whole week including weekends..p/s: for those who don't understand, just ignore me.. :PHere comes today's main topic - YOU're Elite (19-20 July 2008)!!It's been a long time since the Elite Team had their AGM in KL.. With the great effort given out by our president FRP JoeQ who sent out a SMS notifying all members and secretary Feli who plan for the eve...

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
2008-07-05 20:58:00
I must admit that it had been a stressful month for me in ward supply last month.. the few days that i was happy & free of stress were the two weekends where i was back to KL to join the IW and AGM with Raleigh.. that was when i got to rejuvenate myself from all the stress i had been throughout the month..I was never being put into such stressful life before even during my studies finals, assignments, expeditions, waitering, McD.. etc. I was just stress free..Just couldn't stand that all my mistakes done were picked out purposely all the time.. I understand that i would need to be the responsible for the mistakes done in screening, filling or recording.. Picking out mistakes done would actually let me learn more and gain more experience through it.. It felt like i was a 'noob' in a game and i was targeted to be killed all the time for sake of my team mates survival throughout the game.. Ignore me if you don't understand this..To have a patient counseling taught by my boss pe...

I have been ignoring much about this blog.. by just maintaining a simple post every week, sometimes twice a week... i have reasons before this, because i have burnt my laptop.. yeap, my old Asus was burnt.. not by putting it into the fire... but it spontaneously burnt itself.. this can be regarded as 'suicide burning'.. what really happened was my Asus laptop was operating normally one night when i was using it, suddenly it shut down itself and i was too lazy and tired, so i didn't really cared much about it and went to sleep.. the next morning i woke up only to find that there was some burnt smell coming out from my laptop.. i tried to on it, but it just wouldn't response at all..Conclusion: it had burnt itself.. :PAnyway i was expecting something would have happened, but never thought that it would happen so soon & this gave me a reason to get a new laptop.. :) Not much to lose, just a bit of data in the hard disk..without much delay after my first salary paid.. i went bac...

19 April 2008Ha! I am finally back to the cyber world! here's a final update on the Sg Lembing trip last last month.. :P After climbing Bukit Panorama and Gua Charas, we headed back to Kuantan.. Went to this big temple situated by the road to Sg Lembing, outskirt of Kuantan city.. Just to have a look lar.. nothing much..There are lots of cute monks statue in the garden beside the temple.. all wearing glasses and showing off some kungfu styles..We walked around the garden for a while before heading into the temple itself..The temple was really huge.. with a huge buddha statue in it..This photo just showing a small corner of the temple.. didn't took photos of the whole building..more photos around the late and garden..small huts around the lake.. these are nice places to relax after a hectic week of work..based on these, i assumed that this lake is man-made..a huge stone in the garden.. don't really understand what the golden words says..Lastly a photo of Erik with the Monks!
