Copyright violation case, Aamir summoned

A city court on Tuesday summoned Bollywood actor and producer Aamir Khan to depose as witness in a seven-year-old case of violation of copyright in connection with his blockbuster movie Lagaan. Metropolitan Magistrate Jagdish Kumar issued summons to Aamir Khan for February 10, 2009. The court had last year issued summons to the actor asking him to appear on Tuesday, but he failed to do so. The case pertains to the seizure of seven VCDs of the 2001 release Lagaan and 34 of Gadar by the Delhi Police during a raid on the shop of accused Risabh Chawla in Lajpat Rai market on June 22, 2001. Anil Malhotra, the complainant in the case, told the court that he had the copyright of these two films. Aamir was made a witness as Lagaan was produced under his banner M/s Aamir Khan Productions Private Limited in Mumbai. Agra, (IANS) Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, the great grandson of the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against what he calls ?molestation of history and character assassination of emperor Akbar? in Ashutosh Gowariker’s ?Jodhaa Akbar?.In his writ petition filed Thursday, Tucy prayed to the apex court to direct the producers of the film to change the name of the character ?Jodha? to ?Harkha? or some other fictitious name which ?does not distort history and defame the name of Akbar or the illustrious Mughal dynasty?.Talking to IANS from Hyderabad, Tucy said he presented documents and statements of prominent historians like Jadunath Sarkar, Satish Chandra, Ashirwadi Lal Srivastav, and R. If you thought you would never be able to see the cute Shahid -Kareena pair again, there is something for you. Their delayed and almost shelved project ?Milenge Milenge’ inspired by Hollywood’s romantic flick ?Serendipity’ has revived again and Shahid has already started dubbing for the film. The film was supposed to release on this year’s valentines day but then?.Director Satish Kaushik confirmed the news saying, ?He (Shahid) has already started dubbing for the film. Kareena will dub as soon as she returns from her overseas trip. Yes, the film does have elements of Serendipity.?The movie had been shot even before ?Jab We Met’ and just when everyone thought that it has been completely shelved, Boney Kapoor, the film’s producer, got Shahid and Kareena to spare a few days to dub for the film. However, since the film has been shot three years back you will get to see a fuller (read plumper) Kareena and a cuter (read kiddish) Shahid.
