2007-07-21 13:22:00 • comme la fête avait été reportée, j'ai demandé à voir les masques. ils m'ont amené à l'entrepôt et m'ont montré quelques uns des masques qu'ils utilisent durant leurs fêtes traditionnelles. des masques représentant souvent des animaux, mais aussi des humains. un des masques, par exemple, représentait une vieille dame du quartier encore vivante. • because the ceremony was postponed, i asked if i could see there masks. so they show me some of them. most represent animals and are pretty old, from the beginning of the century (the XX). but some represent humans. one, for exemple, was from a women of th district, still living there. 2007-07-20 13:53:00 • alors que j'étais à bamako, je devais aller à une fête pour l'inauguration d'une porte traditionnelle restaurée par les gens du quartier sugonafing. ici en arrière. la fête fut reportée mais le maire (en jaune ici) est venu dire bonjour et demander de l'aide car la restauration a coûté cher. la porte était le lieu d'entrée dans le village ancien. c'est un lieu centenaire, riche en évocations... la suite demain. • when i was at bamako, i was supposed to go to the inauguration of a traditionnal gate, restore by the people of the sugonafing area. the ceremony was postponed but the mayor came (in yellow here) to say hello and ask for help because the restauration cost a lot. the gate was the entrance of the old village. it's a place of great value, centenial, and the center of the district activities. the sequel tomorow.
