The pier by the Southernmost House is jammed with tourists every evening. All cameras are ready for this glorious sunset event.The sun is waiting some minutes for her appearance behind the clouds...Here she comes...and then she sinks like a fireball into the ocean.....And all around me, the people are clapping their hands, happy and overwhelmed to see an other grandiose spectacle from mother nature.After to see it for 7 years almost, it's still for me too, an exciting big show.

A very simple and plain sunset over Key West.Where is here the "green flash"....?Green flashes and green rays are rare optical phenomena that occur shortly after sunset or before sunrise, when a green spot is visible for a short period of time above the sun, or a green ray shoots up from the sunset point.Green flashes can be observed from any altitude (even from the air). Big Decision Time

Some times you have to make decisions in life, right? They can be small decisions or bigger ones, for us just now, they were pretty BIG.We have been living almost 7 years in Key West and had a wonderful time playing and working in paradise. We fell in love with this island from the moment we came down here from South Carolina in 2001 and decided to make it home.Since last year the economy of this island seems to be going down hill drastically - our accounting numbers are showing that the tourists are not buying as much art as they did before and the prices of everything are going sky high - so, we had to think of alternatives of how to sell our art and make our living in a different way.Believe me, we have been thinking long and hard and didn?t make quick decisions. Our thoughts have matured over a long period, starting months ago.One of the main criteria for us was: We just don't want be "stuck" on this rock and not be able to get away at all - like many others we see here alrea...

This was the spot where we - David and I - have started this year together and this will be the spot where we will welcome the coming new year tomorrow night.It will bring us some BIG good changes in our life.I will tell you about more in a later post - next year. :-) And today is a special day to celebrate also for us: It's David's Birthday !!! I made more pictures of my blooming Lily flower 2 days ago and I want to share it with you. I love this flower, I love its innocent white color and the gorgeous shapes they have, it's inviting for photographic creations. I know also that everybody now is involved deep in their preparations for Christmas and that's why I want to challenge the mind with these flowers to something else, something very different and something beautiful. Easy to grow. growin' tips...Lilium (Lily) Plant bulbs in full sun and well-drained soil. Mulch or plant to keep roots shaded and cool. Fertilize Lilies after shoots begin to emerge. Use any organic fertilize follow the directions on the container. Stake tall varieties. Remove spent flowers but leave entire stem standing until it turns brown in fall. If you cut blooms for arrangements, take no more than one third of the stem; cutting more will reduce the ability of the plant to store energy for next year's blooms. To grow Lilies in containers, choose a 12"+ in diameter. Add a 2-3" layer of potting mix to the pot, set the bulbs in place, cover with mix, and water thoroughly. We have strong and cool north winds just now over the island, long jeans and warmer shirts and even warm jackets in the evening is what we are wearing now in paradise - and we are so not used too. :-))I made these photos from my again and again blooming orchid outside in the yard. I think it makes a nice and colorful contrast to the COLD days that we have since yesterday. I got this plant from my daughter Jeannine in 2005 as a good bye gift on her last day vacation here before she had to fly back to Switzerland. Since then the plant is enjoying me with sweet memories with my daughter - I miss her so much...
