Kate's Point
2008-02-29 09:26:00 Kate's point in Mahabaleshwar is named after Kate, the daughter of Sir John Malcolm, the founder of Mahabaleshwar during the British Raj. It is a huge rck which stands 50 m high. In the pic below, you can see Echo point on the right side. Kate's point offers a breathtaking view of the Krishna valley. Chana Wala
2008-02-28 05:16:00 Look at the gentleman selling chana in the market. Actually, he saw me asking the chana seller if I could take a photo of him and his stall. He asked the seller to get up and sat in his place, took some Indian currency from his pocket and posed as the seller. Somehow, when I went back the next day, there was someone else(not very friendly) and I couldn't get a photo of the actual seller.mumbaidailysnapshot More About: Wala
Masked
2008-02-27 12:47:00 These statues with masks were one of the rare pieces in the gift shop in Mahabaleshwar market. As you can see in the second photo, they were placed on the left side near the entrance of the shop. Most of the articles in gift shops here are from different places all over India, so it's interesting shopping at leisure, unlike in Mumbai. mumbaidailysnapshot

Mama n baby
2008-02-23 12:54:00 Strange but true. We couldn't trace a single monkey in any part of Mahabaleshwar. The kids were upset coz they were all set to visit this new place 'Mahabaleshwar' to see monkeys and horsies. On our way back to Mumbai, we spotted a bunch of monkeys at the Expressway. Having no carrots and bananas left, the kids fed the monkeys biscuits to their heart's content. And when the biscuits were over, they fed the monkeys cashewnuts,, that were meant for the kids. This baby monkey simply relished the cashewnuts. Now the kids know that monkeys eat biscuits and cashewnuts, not bananas and peanuts.mumbaidailysnapshot More About: Baby , Mama

Grapes
2008-02-20 08:24:00 Hi friends, I am leaving for Mahabaleshwar, nicknamed the strawberry country today, the 16th Feb. Hence, the posts in advance. Will be back on the 20th to post lovely photos from the Strawberry Country. Have a nice weekend.Grapes are a rich source of nutrients. They are high in phytonutrients, antioxidants and they have ellagic acid, a powerful antioxidant good for arteries that helps decrease inflammation. Reseachers comparing diets in Western countries have discovered that although thew French tend to eat higher levels of animal fat, surrprisingly the incidence of heart disease remains low in France. Scientists believe the reason is the greater consumption of red wine in France.Something in grapes helps to reduce cholesterol levels in the body and thus slows the buildup of deposits in the arteries. Compounds such as resveratrol, discovered in grapes, have been positively linked to fighting cancer, hearyt disease, degenerative nerve disease, arthritis and other ailments.Sourcemumba...
