2007-11-26 19:29:00 A street sign on Main Street. Though Joplin has been working to make downtown a better place to mill around, it is still relatively rare to see pedestrians. More About: Sign

Open
2007-11-09 14:46:00 It didn't look to me like this barber shop on Main St. was open at all. In fact it looked like it had been a long time since it was open. More About: Open

Theme Day
2007-11-01 16:46:00 Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo Blog community, and this month's theme is the color blue. There are flashes of blue to be seen all over Joplin, but I chose this sidewalk from (very) nearby Cartersville. It was such a sunny, bright day that everything seemed to be flooded with light, giving the sidewalk a blueish tint. There are currently 121 blogs participating in today's theme. Bison
2007-10-26 19:32:00 One of my favorite places to go in the Joplin area is Prairie State Park. At one time over one-third of Missouri was covered in prairie (where bison and elk roamed freely), and some state organizations are making an effort to restore some of this native prairie. Along with the restoration of the prairie is the restoration of the native animals who once lived on it. More About: Bison
Cactus
2007-10-23 14:35:00 Though cactus is not generally thought of when one mentions the midwest/Ozarks, we do have quite a few Eastern Prickly Pear cactus growing wild around the area. Often you find them in drier glade areas (though the last few days have not exactly been hospitable to me or the cactus--cold and rainy, so you'll have to excuse my lack of new photos). Truck
2007-10-21 16:52:00 An old truck was left by a creek bed north of town. It looks like it has been there for quite some time. More About: Truck
Soccer Field
2007-10-19 17:37:00 An empty soccer field. In this area quite a few children play soccer, but their interest in the sport seems to wane as they approach junior high and high school. It seems like the soccer fields are empty much more often than the football fields or baseball diamonds. More About: Soccer , Field
Mural
2007-10-16 17:39:00 A mural under a railroad bridge on the north side of town.I've been tagged by slinger of Twin Cities Daily Photo! I get to list eight things about myself that you probably don't know, and in turn tag eight others to do the same.1. I'm currently a psychology major at Missouri Southern State University.2. Right know my life is pretty much consumed with my senior project, a study of how race and emotion can influence the transmission of rumors.3. I discovered City Daily Photo Blogs by accident, as I was looking for photos of Trier, Germany.4. I'm addicted to "America's Next Top Model".5. I took a semester of Russian, and would love to take more once I have the time.6. My free time is spent preparing for graduate school, as I will be getting my undergrad degree in May.7. My favorite animals are snakes, and I am usually the only person wanting to get closer to them.8. I collect transit maps from places I have traveled to.I am tagging these 8 City Daily Photo Bloggers.
