My new art
2007-12-03 22:36:00
I recently worked out a trade deal with a very talented artist, Petersen Thomas (who hosted that gallery event this past Saturday). I'll be redesigning his current website, which I'll be doing a post on in the near future. TheBobBlog
sold more images!
2007-12-03 11:50:00
YAY! I had a gallery showing Saturday night and sold 4 of 5 tiny planet images. I'm so excited. I spend way too many hours creating them so it's nice to see that people like them enough to buy them. I had to exchange the Sigma 8mm fisheye lens for the Canon 15mm and it works so much better. The Sigma had way too much distortion giving all the images a peep hole effect.TheBobBlog

New fisheye lens
2007-12-01 01:44:00
I got a new Sigma fisheye lens today. It cost way too much, however I can do my tiny planets in about 15 shots instead of 70. Here's the test one. TheBobBlog

Where the hell have I been?
2007-11-10 17:49:00
Sorry for being MIA. I spent a few days cleaning out unwanted files on both computers getting them ready for the new OS. Worked on getting 3 of my tiny planets printed and framed for a gallery showing I'm going to be in Dec. 1st. And I've been watching a lot of TV lately, so nothing new has happened up until now. I'm home visiting my parents again. It's been working out great at work, once a month I get a 3 day weekend so I've decided to spend them with my parents. Yesterday was great. We all went up to Cleveland for the day. Dad and I took some pictures of the city while mom shopped at tower city. The lighting was crap, that's why the tiny planet looks so bad We ate at the HardRock (which I hadn't eaten there since we went to see the Rolling Stones back when I was in college). We went to the Cleveland Museum of Art where I had no clue that they were going to have one of my favorite Salvador Dali's on display "The Dream."After the museum we went to another mall so my da...

Honda Accord Photo Shoot
2007-11-01 02:32:00
I never realized that Honda was based out of Ohio till I got an email last March asking me if I would do a shoot of the new Accord. After months of waiting I finally got to shoot the '08 Accord along with a vintage 80's model for the 20th year anniversary. I ended up shooting pics of the plant and the two cars that will be used for publication/web/ads/etc. It was very exciting and apparently I did a good enough job that I got asked to do more photography for them in the coming year. Sorry I didn't post earlier about Honda, I had to wait to get the go ahead from them about posting the images.TheBobBlog

Abandoned Mansion
2007-10-21 18:54:00
I'm home visiting my parents this weekend. I brought my camera and went out all day on Saturday shooting. Here are some of the random places I went:Abandon ed mansion built in 1884 located in Salem Ohio, reminded me so much of the house in Fight Club. In about 10 years when I'm ready to actually build my dream house, it will be designed in this style, I might actually do the exact design because I love this house so much. Transforming house
2007-10-13 16:04:00
With the push of a button, the house opens in 90 seconds like a flower and transforms from a compact container into a fully furnished and functional space with a kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom, living room and library. All materials used in the Biennale house were recyclable or recycled. As Andrea Illy, chairman and CEO of illycaffe, has been quoted as saying, illy was initially interested in Kalkin’s idea as an examination of “home as one continuous mouldable surface, a relief against which human activity would pop out.”Check out more info on the architect Adam Kalkin.TheBobBlog

Gallery Hop
2007-10-07 18:26:00
The first Saturday of each month in Columbus we have a gallery hop where all the shops and galleries are open late and local artist show their work. One of my talented friends had her work in one of the galleries so we went to support her and see her latest projects. After, we went to a new restaurant called Marcella's where our friend Jordy bar tends. The place was packed as always. Jer and I were hanging out by the bar waiting to get a seat when we started to notice something. There were two older guys (30-40's) sitting with two attractive mid 20's girls. After awhile we realized that the guys just picked up these girls. The guys were very arrogant and at one point questioned Jer about the saying on his shirt, which was awkward. Anyway, the one guy goes to the bathroom (kinda just pushing Jer and I out of the way) and the other guy starts chatting it up with the blond the bathroom guy was with. When bathroom boy comes back the other guy moves down the line to the blonds friend. ...

My Dali finally arrived
2007-10-07 00:02:00
I purchased the Dali when I was on vacation in Aug and have been waiting since then. Looks like I'm going to have to get some bigger art to go next to it as it's so damn big. DestinoHere's the story behind it:Destino is a short animated cartoon released in 2003 by The Walt Disney Company. Destino is unique in that its production originally began in 1945, 58 years before its original release. The project was a collaboration between American animator Walt Disney and Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, and features music written by Mexican songwriter Armando Dominguez.Destino was storyboarded by Disney studio artist John Hench and Dalí for eight months in late 1945 and 1946; however, financial concerns caused Disney to cease production. The Walt Disney Company, then Walt Disney Studios, was plagued by many financial woes in the World War II era. Hench compiled a short animation test of about 18 seconds in the hopes of rekindling Disney's interest in the project, but the production was...

My new Ford Edge
2007-10-01 01:36:00
With winter around the corner I wanted a more reliable vehicle in the snow. After looking at the Jeep Liberty, Dodge Nitro and Ford Edge I decided to go with the Edge. My Mustang (which I still have) has been a great car with not a single problem so I was already leaning towards a Ford anyway. The Edge has 18" rims, Vista roof, leather, killer sound system and the interior is a lot nicer then the competitors. I went with the charcoal metallic color which really sets off the rims. I drove around all day and ended up in Athens Ohio at the old Asylum, part of the Ridges. TheBobBlog

Honda photoshoot & The Mudflats
2007-09-29 04:09:00
Today was a busy day. I finally got to do the photo shoot for Honda . I got to shoot the new '08 Accord which will be used in some promotional publications for the car. I'm not sure if I'm aloud to post pics of the cars so I'll have to keep ya in suspense. After the car shoot I decided to drive around and do some photography. I found a bunch of cool places to photograph including the Mudflats boardwalk. The Mudflats are part of the Hoover reservoir nature preserve which takes you out to some amazing views. It was so quiet and relaxing and I was the only one out there (probably because not too many people know about it). I did another tiny planet while I was out there. I have some touching up on it to do then I'll post, so far it's my fav. TheBobBlog

More Planets
2007-09-26 02:15:00
Sorry for neglecting the blog for the past week. I've been working on creating more of the tiny planets and it's taking me forever to do all the corrections. I'm going to do a series of 6 planets and try to get a gallery showing. I spend way too much time playing around with my images not to be making a profit. Please let me know what you think so far.[ new way ][ old way ]TheBobBlog

New coffee table
2007-09-17 23:55:00
Things have been super crazy around here lately. I went home to see the parents this weekend and I'm trying to play catch up with all the stuff that needed to be done around here. While I was home, my mother and I went to IKEA where I bought a very cool little coffee table that I was in desperate need of. I'm not that much of an IKEA fan as most of their stuff looks good far away but up close you see why the price was too good to be true, however the table is decent. I'm in designer mode and I'm flipping through catalogs seeing how I can redo my kitchen. I think I might paint some walls this weekend after I do a photo shoot for Honda.TheBobBlog

Correct tiny planets (updated)
2007-09-08 17:34:00
Here are my first two attempts at a "correct" tiny planet so please don't judge too hard. I'm still trying to figure out the program so that's why everything doesn't line up. Notice how these ones actually give you the feeling that your suspended looking down over the planet verses my previous ones where there was a vanishing point in the center giving the viewer a feeling of being sucked into the middle. Which to you prefer, I would love to here your thoughts. [ merged of 151 images ][ merged of 91 images ][ The new Jeep ad featuring a tiny planet ]I'm loving this type of photography so I'm sure you're going to see lots more of these from me.UPDATE:Check out my computer room I just finished...[view full screen]TheBobBlog
