The Ultimate Ball Head Guide
2008-05-13 05:13:00
A tripod is not a single piece of equipment, but rather, two components joined together: the legs and the head. In this article, we'll explore a specific type of tripod head called the ball head, or more formally the ball and socket head. We'll look at some advantages, disadvantages, a list of items to look for when buying, and a few suggested ball heads.

2008-05-03 07:27:00
In the last part of this series, we went over Organizing your photos with Adobe Bridge. We’re Ready for Real Advertisers
2008-05-01 03:58:00
Epic Edits has shown ads for a loooong long time now — mostly AdSense, Chitika, and some affiliate programs. Those things were fine for the early days, but it’s time for the site to grow up a little. From here out, I’ll be working on bringing in real advertisers. What you see now are affiliate programs and house ads for my photoblog (plus a tiny bit of AdSense to fill in the gaps). Over the last month, I’ve been busy getting setup with my own ad server, creating email accounts, adjusting the settings in my PayPal account, writing an “Advertise Here” page, getting rid of AdSense, and looking for advertisers to contact. One of these days, I’ll actually find someone who’s interested in putting a banner up. WHAT WILL CHANGE? photo credit: Stuck in Customs Nothing much, other than the fact that you’ll see some new and different banners on the site every once in a while. I won’t be placing any additional ads above or inside...

Sometimes it?s not convenient to carry a tripod with you ? especially the big bulky sturdy pieces of equipment that some of us like to use. But not every occasion requires a heavy duty tripod, and something much smaller will suffice.

Dreaming of Photography ? Unleashed
2008-04-16 23:24:00
Last week I asked the readers what they would do if they could as part of our weekly poll. This one was an essay question though, and we had a lot of great answers come out of it. The question was based around the notion of having no worldly obligations and what you would do as a photographer. 18 photographers chimed in to share their dreams and aspirations with the camera -- Here are a few of their answers.

How to Create Monster Photoshop Files
2008-04-15 02:31:00
Photoshop Documents (.PSD files) can become very large if you?re not careful. I?ve managed to create files that were over 500MB in size (I?ve even had some approach 1GB). This can be a serious issue if you have many Photoshop Documents hiding in your archives. Here are five ways that you too can create little PSD monsters with an appetite for disk space.
