Notre-Dame-De-Bon-Secours

When getting from the "Quartier Latin" to Old Montréal, you might encounter this wonderful "chapelle", or church as some may call it. Between the market and some new condos freshly constructed, a church is the last thing you ought to cross on your way to the port. Obviously, by the flow of tourists coming in and out, I guess it is considered a nice architectural/religious building. I agree with both reasons.

A long time ago...

On the foot of Mont-Royal, there used to be, every week-end, that much people. Since the statue is being updated during this summer, the place that was so colorful, so musical (we call that place tam-tam), so noisy, is now as desert as the Bell Center. For few millions, as the mayor indicated, we may have some surprise about our park, next year.

What I find kind of unique in Montréal, compared to others north american cities, is how different downtown buildings can be, in colors as in shapes.

One of the numerous electric station of the city, very well hidden for the typical tourist. Though if you go only a few minutes off the usual suggested path, you might see one of them. Don't hate them, they light us up !

I know those telecommunication towers are a good help for some people around here, but how they destroy the great view the Mont-Royal would be without it.

MdP is about to complete it's "Mont-Royal tour". I think you now have a better idea of what you can expect from a visit to this famous mountain from which the city takes its name.

Was once made of wood

Altough it is Jacques Cartier, guided by Hochelaga (old Montréal name) natives, who named the hill "Mont-Royal", it is Paul de Chomedey, Sieur de Maisonneuve, who erected a cross on top of the hill to thank the lord for saving the colony from flooding. For sure it was once made of wood, it has been changed for metal near 1924, when it's been by the same way illuminated by night.

Tonight was the best night to go to the Francofolies de Montréal, big festival full of french music from all over the world.We had the best French Canadian music on stage tonight : Les Trois Accords. That band rocks everything out of everyone. Seriously, these five guys really play what our province has best to offer. In the last five to ten years, nothing good came out of music from here. But they decided to go with absurdity as a way to express their lyrics. And it works ! The two shows I just attended were worth the wait !
