Near Bethleem
2007-07-09 04:55:00
The Christ Church, as it was written, has been constructed by a father for his daughter in the early 20th Century. It has a very nice look and is well placed on the route so it is easy to stop and look. I loved it !

Going, going.... gone !!
2007-07-06 07:52:00
For the next two weeks, I will be on vacation ! My plan is to keep MDP out of vacation, but I can do so as long as it is possible for me to connect to the internet. So if I miss a day, or two, don't be mad at me, please. I deserve those vacations... :0)

Ste-Cat
2007-07-02 07:24:00
It is the figure of the Jazz Fest; called Ste-Cat (because the Jazz Fest is mainly on Ste-Catherine street), this cat holds a guitar and an halo (Saint... Cat). I find it an original name with full meaning !!
Theme day : Red
2007-07-01 07:43:00
As it is Canada Day on July 1st, and that Canada's color is red, it would've been too easy to grab a flag and get some pix. I prefered going with some more subtle, from the Montréal Jazz Festival that just started. Get ready for some music on next days !Shanghai, China - Mumbai, India - New York City (NY), USA - Manila, Philippines - Albuquerque (NM), USA - Hamburg, Germany - Stayton (OR), USA - Los Angeles (CA), USA - Hyde, UK - Oslo, Norway - Brookville (OH), USA - Melbourne, Australia - Stavanger, Norway - Bellefonte (PA), USA - Bucaramanga (Santander), Colombia - Joplin (MO), USA - Singapore, Singapore - Selma (AL), USA - Cleveland (OH), USA - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Chandler (AZ), USA - Stockholm, Sweden - Seattle (WA), USA - Boston (MA), USA - Arradon, France - Evry, France - Baton Rouge (LA), USA - Maple Ridge (BC), Canada - Boston (MA), USA - Grenoble, France - Cottage Grove (MN), USA - Greenville (SC), USA - Hilo (HI), USA - Nelson, New Zealand - La Antigua, Guatemala - ...

Air, give me some air !
2007-06-28 07:05:00
Here you can see and building from Old Montréal. Back in the time of construction, it is obvious that there were no central air treatment. Look at all those air-conditioners hanging in the windows. I think we presently must consume as much electricity as we do in winter to heat us up !

Saint-Jean-Baptiste street
2007-06-23 08:16:00
This is the Saint -Jean -Baptiste street. On June 24th, it is Québec's national day. Armed with our 24 pack of beer, we head to municipal parks for live french canadian music, light up huge fires and stay awake until next morning. Colors for this day : light blue and white. Watch the flags.

Au Boudoir (the lounge)
2007-06-19 07:24:00
Perfect place for a local beer (commercial beers, though). Between the limit of creepy and old tavern, many kind of people come here to have a drink. On Mont-Royal street, near St-Hubert.

Christmas in (almost) summer !?
2007-06-14 07:52:00
Walking back home today from work, I came in front of what looked to me as a winter tree. In real good shape for the season, after those two really humid weeks, it surprised me how it shined in full day light !

Interesting comment

Lately, I've been receiving comments on pictures size. I only want to mention that I took good note about that. I'm working on that actually; let's say double size would be ok ?

Nuit blanche sur tableau noir
2007-06-10 07:24:00
This weekend on Mont-Royal st. is an artistic festival called "Sleepless night on black board" (the name has no sense translated). The famous street becomes pedestrian from De Lorimier to St-Hubert, which means you can walk on it for almost an hour, browsing from itinerant merchant to another. It is faboulos to see so many people walking in the middle of the street, which is colored by paintings all the way (it is sad we gotta walk on it).

Fairplay; that's what we try to show children by the use of sports. Be gentle with your opponents. When you make someone fall, go help him get on his feet. When a penalty is called against you, get the ball fast to the other team. When the game is over, go home, watch television. See hockey players hit themselves for complete pleasure; see that baseball hitter run over the pitcher for that second throw to hit him; see that italian football player fake a fall, grab his knees, crying to death (and when a penalty is called against the other team, getting up and running faster than before to get to the ball). Is that what we call hypocrisy ?
Le tour de l'île de Montréal 2007
2007-06-04 07:38:00
Friday, the night ride. 20 km. Really funny; relaxing. Sunday, the day ride. The whole east of the island of Mont réal. 50 km. A humid day. It was funny; in part because I hanged in the head portion of the group. A group of 30 000 persons.

Still a church
2007-05-31 07:45:00
Recently in Montréal, people with bad ideas have been succesful. On top of that, the i'm-ready-to-sell-your-mother businessmen that decided, someday, that churches weren't lucrative enough for them. They then decided to offer big amounts for the old buildings, part of the Heritage of our history. Big contracts, big money. They renovated those churches and made condos instead. Other i-don't-give-a-damn-about-your-religion people decided to buy the condos, for astonishing prices. Even then, it got sold in very small time. Now, when I pass by a church in Montréal that's still alive, that has not been raped by the hand of sharks surrounding every peace of anything that can be turned into money, I smile.

Where is fall ? Bring me to fall right now... Argh, that sweet feeling of the Bell Center, when the crowd is over excited by the promise of a nice year. Like the vinicultor with his vine.

Restaurant Les Belles-Soeurs
2007-05-26 07:29:00
Restaurant of the Plateau Mont-Royal, it serves real good breakfasts as well as typical Canadian meals. During the few first visits, you fell uncomfortable with the "know everybody" behavior of the owner. But once you're known, it feels good to come back in this eclectical decoration.

A city with Impact
2007-05-21 07:25:00
The Montreal Impact, on their first game home. Soccer team which is too good for their league; too bad for the next level. So they lead their division, each year. It's fun to see them play, as they sign nice Argentina players, with such great foot.Argh, it smells summer after all. Even if it rained all game.
