Apple Advertising: ?Don?t Give Up On Vista?
2007-11-22 01:01:00
I absolutely love Apple ’s advertising for the Mac; they’re clever and many of them focus on technical aspects of why the Mac is better than the PC - but beyond that they’re selling the Mac as a fashion accessory. Take a look at the Mac vs. PC Ad Campaign here. I think I ...

2007-11-14 08:53:00
The November/December 2007 Issue of Supermodels Unlimited hit newsstands at the beginning of the month. I finally got the chance to pick up a few copies of it. Look for my “Four Seasons” spread that I discussed back on June 18th; It’s on pages 32-35 and renamed “Seasons of Change”. They did, however, miss ...

Well, I finally got my copy of Leopard yesterday morning. On Friday, FedEx mistakingly (although, I don’t know how because I receive about 10 packages a week) delivered my package to 140 MYSTREETNAME AVE instead of 140 MYSTREETNAME STREET. The nice elderly couple that got the package delivered it to me, since FedEx ...

$100 back from Apple? How to get it?
2007-09-15 03:31:00
On September 5th, I discussed Apple ’s new additions to their collection of iPods, including the iPod touch. In the same post, I expressed my feelings toward Apple for dropping the price on the iPhone by $200 not even 8 weeks after they released it. (By The Way, Apple quickly hit the Million Phone mark a couple days after the price dropped!) That same day, Steve Jobs posted an open letter to iPhone early adopters promising to give a $100.00 store credit to those who purchased the iPhone prior to the price drop. While he felt that it is the nature of technology, he coined it as a gift to early adopters. Apple has now made it possible to get that store credit. If you bought your iPhone prior to August 22nd, you are eligible for a $100 store credit to be used at any Apple Store or on Apple.com. Simply go to http://www.apple.com/iphone/storecredit/ and follow the instructions. I did so, and within 10 minutes had my printed store credit in my hand. Thank you Apple for appreciatin...

Apple Reinventing the iPod? (UPDATED)
2007-09-06 03:20:00
UPDATE: Apple Is Now Offering Early Adopters a $100.00 Store Credit on the iPhone. Stay Tuned For an Update on How To Get It. At its much anticipated “Beat Goes On” event, Apple announced some major enhancements to its line of iPods and a price break on the Apple iPhone. The iPhone Being an early adopter of new technology means that sometimes you spend too much for your gadgets. Today, Apple discontinued the 4GB iPhone model because of “customer concentration” on the 8GB model. At the same time, they dropped the price of the 8GB iPhone to $399. Yep, you heard that right, only $399 - $200 cheaper than the original retail price. (You’ll see later in this post why I believe this, but I believe they will be releasing a 16GB model soon also). A new version of iTunes was also release which allows you to make a ring tone out of any song. Now there’s a catch, FIRST you have to purchase the song (for $0.99), THEN you have to pay ($0.99) to convert t...

Found Images?
2007-09-04 10:08:00
As I was cleaning out my desk at the studio, I found a DVD of an old project created for a Photoshop Final during my studies at F.I.T.. The DVD contained quicktime movie that resulted from a slideshow created entirely in Apple’s iPhoto. The intent of the project was to do a themed color study; My colors were Red, Yellow and Blue and my theme was “The Northside” of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. For those of you who know the area, it’s sort of where Williamsburg isn’t Williamsburg anymore and it’s not quite Greenpoint. The second part of the project was to saturate the selected color in the image and make it stand out using masks and the color correction tools provided in Photoshop. Finally, we were to create a Quicktime slideshow using JPEGs saved out from Photoshop and iPhoto’s Slideshow feature only (no use of Final Cut, or DVD Studio, or anything like that). Though it was a while ago, I remember that this task was a great way to set out wit...

2007-08-29 10:18:00
This year, while shooting “The Cool Book ” for 2008, I hired a videographer (Stephen Bodi) to document the process. I took the 10 hours of footage and created three seperate edits for the client. 1) For the members of the book (the stores that buy into it); 2) To play in the stores during prom season; 3) One for the public internet. This is a rough edit of Version 3. Bookmark To:

AT&T Drops ?The Fewest Dropped Calls!?
2007-08-28 07:12:00
On August 23rd, Wired.com reported that an employee leaked information that AT&T would be quietly dropping its claim that they have the “Fewest Drop ped Calls ”. Following a Better Business Bureau investigation into Cingular’s (now AT&T’s) “fewest dropped calls” ad campaign and a protracted legal fight with Sprint over the issue, AT&T is reportedly dropping its claim, according to an employee. Turns out, the assertion was never really true, and was based on only a small part of a larger Telephia report. As a whole, the report notes that AT&T Wireless did not have the most reliable network in places like New York, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, according to Broadband Reports. Recent studies from Consumer Reports and JD Power mirror these findings, and have placed Cingular/AT&T at or near the the bottom of their rankings for reliability and satisfaction. According to JD Power’s website, Verizon Wireless has taken the...

So, Skip The Expensive Photo Shoot???
2007-08-25 03:57:00
Above is an excerpt from a monthly newsletter I received from Modern Postcard today. I have used Modern Postcard in the past to print some of my monthly post card mailings, and was considering trying them again - but I’m having second thoughts. One sentence in their August Newsletter stuck out to me like a sore thumb, “So, skip the expensive photo shoot and create direct mailers with high quality images from iStockphoto.com!“. What? Skip the expensive photo shoot? I know it’s important to broaden your customer base and there are some companies that cannot afford to spend thousands to have custom images created for their marketing efforts, but I have a few issues with this mailing: 1) I’m a photographer and I’m your customer Modern Postcard. You’re alienating me and thousands of other photographers with this type of language in your marketing! The people you are targeting with this email are those same clients that I am targeting. 2) Pho...
