The View Goes On and On...
2008-02-13 21:07:00
Panorama view of Canyonlands, Utah, comprising of 5 shots stitched together. I made a (foolish!) attempt to climb up to Mud Lakes yesterday, I underestimated the amount of snow on the south facing accent. We were fine till we got about a mile and a half, then the snow started getting deeper and deeper, eventually we lost the trail and the snow depth was 4 - 5ft deep and soft. Snow shoes became useless and my snow loving Husky had to crawl across the top of the snow. The day ended up being one long day hike up Elk Creek, also under 2 - 3ft of snow, grrr.

Winter Depths
2008-02-11 18:07:00
Taken a few months back when you could still see Elk Creek, it's disappeared under layers of snow now. We've had 70 - 90mph winds for the last 4 days straight, winter is showing no sign of breaking yet.

Sunset Echo
2008-01-30 17:39:00
Echo Lake, Colorado. I have plenty of winter scenes to post, I even have about 3-4 rolls of B&W to scan, but the winter is starting drag out for us (as it would at 9,000ft!) so summer is the theme of the photoblog currently.

Dreaming of Spring
2008-01-22 17:41:00
Scenes from last spring, dug up from the archives. I felt this image was rather appropriate today, looking out the window today at the 2ft of snow on the ground. When the weather is like it is during the winter, it amazes me how the mountains thrive with life in the spring.

Standing Still
2008-01-18 18:35:00
Thank you all who have left comments recently while I've been very aloof, deadlines on projects and new client sites going live really suck the energy out of me. An older shot (well, 4 months ago) of Arches National Park, Utah. Surprising amount of grain for the finer Delta 100 film.

Sunset Arch
2008-01-07 22:59:00
This has to be the most difficult photo I've ever taken. When I first visited Arches National Park, Utah, 3 months ago, I inadvertently took the wrong trail to the arch and missed photographing the sunset I wanted. 2nd time around I went to shoot another arch in the park in the late afternoon, upon trudging a mile through the snow to reach it I realized it was a morning shot, it was completely covered in shadow, d'oh. We raced back to the car and over to this arch, with time severely against me, I was dropped at the trail head (the right one this time!) and ran the mile long, mostly uphill path. With literally 2min to spare I quickly set up the camera gear and snapped a few shots. A truly elusive photograph! Fuji Velvia 50 (an awesome film!)

Under a Rock
2007-12-15 01:37:00
So last night was a pretty major meteor shower, there were few clouds in the sky and the light show was spectacular, so I thought it a good idea to pop out with the 35mm Yashica and get 2-3 30min exposures of the stars. I loaded the film up, went out, and spent 1 1/2 hours shooting only to find later that the shutter was playing up!!! Grrr... anyway rewound the film and fixed the problem with the shutter, but I missed the the opportunity, guess it was never to be...
