Casting a Shadow
2007-07-12 20:06:00 I have an addiction. I love old cameras and I love raiding yard sales for bargains. A few weeks back while at one particular yard sale I found a Yashica Lynx-14, it weighs a ton, partly due to its huge, high quality 50mm f/1.4 lens. Being a child of the 60's it uses PX 625 mercury batteries, so metering with a 1.5v alkaline battery gets interesting. For $5 it's an absolute bargain. This photo is another shot from the storm last weekend that came over Mt. Rosalie. Posts might be a bit thin in the coming weeks, I'm heading off back to New Mexico tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll squeeze in the occasional upload ;) More About: Shadow , Casting

I was so awed by this storm I left it to late to make it off the mountain (13,575ft) and ended up seeking shelter between two rocks with the poncho covering me and the dog. The High Road
2007-06-26 18:25:00 Got the scans back from the photo lab last night from last weeks trip into Mt. Evans Wilderness. Not bad considering I wasn't able to get to the setup area I wanted, The snow on the north side of the ridge was still 4-5ft in places, and it's summer! This scene is looking towards the road up Mt. Evans, the highest paved road in North America (though I doubt you can see it on this picture!). More About: High , Road

I was very happy with the tones and colors produced by the D70, but for capturing light levels, I feel the hand processed 35mm replicates the atmosphere on the New Mexico plains better.
